Salam After Airport Road Incident: No Leniency in Maintaining Security
Lebanese Prime Minister Najib Mikati met with Minister of Interior Ahmad Hajjar before the latter headed to the Ministry of Interior to chair a meeting of the Central Security Council, where he issued directives to ensure that no leniency is shown in maintaining security across Lebanon, particularly in ensuring the smooth operation of public services, including the safety of travelers at Rafic Hariri International Airport. He also emphasized preventing any attacks on public and private property, especially attempts to block roads.
The Prime Minister recommended that those responsible for violations be arrested and promptly referred to the competent judiciary.
To follow up on the developments, Prime Minister Mikati will chair a meeting this afternoon at his office in the Grand Serail with the relevant ministers.

He concluded by saying that the Lebanese judiciary will stand tall, and the rule of law will ultimately prevail. May God bless our righteous martyrs and guide us toward true and lasting justice.

Around midnight on Saturday–Sunday, a mass escape took place from the holding cell of the Ghazir police station, where approximately 20 detainees—both Lebanese and Syrians—broke out after creating a hole in the cell wall. According to reports, the escape went unnoticed for about an hour and a half, giving the fugitives enough time to flee the area and avoid immediate pursuit. Sources suggest the escape had been pre-planned, taking advantage of reduced staffing and lax overnight security. An urgent internal investigation has been launched amid questions of possible negligence or complicity. Security forces remain on high alert as the manhunt for the escapees continues.
