Allen unsure on Muratti future after Guernsey win
Guernsey captain Ross Allen says he has yet to decide if he will play in a Muratti Vase again.The 38-year-old scored two goals in the 3-1 win over Jersey to end their rival's eight-year grip on the annual title. Veteran striker Allen won the Player of the Match award for a record fourth time - 14 years after first winning the Ossie Eloury Trophy - as he once again became the thorn in Jersey's side."If that is the last one it is a pretty special one," Allen, who captained Guernsey for the first time, told BBC Radio Guernsey."I'll just enjoy the moment and see how the body's feeling."I'm definitely going to play next season for Guensey FC. Whether I carry on from a Muratti point of view it's going to be how the body feels and who's pushing for a place in the squad."Sometimes you've got to step away to allow the next guy to come through."There will be a day very soon where that happens, so I'm not saying either way, but I just want to enjoy the day with such an amazing group of lads and friends."Having scored 311 goals in 356 games for Guernsey FC, Allen has been a stalwart of island football for the best part of two decades. He helped Guernsey qualify to represent England at the Uefa Regions' Cup in 2010 and helped the Sarnians to a 2015 Island Games gold medal. He now manages the Guernsey FA academy and says he is looking forward to seeing the young players he is helping to develop."I'm just so excited about the next crop coming through, and for them to get this feeling of winning, early on, and trying to get that regularly with Guernsey FC as well, it's going to be massive going forward."I'm really excited about what the future brings, even if that's not with me out there playing."
