Srikakulam armyman receives Kirti Chakra Award for exceptional courage
SRIKAKULAM: Major Malla Rama Gopal Naidu of the Indian Army (Rashtriya Rifles) has been honoured with the Kirti Chakra Award, India's second-highest peacetime gallantry award, for eliminating four terrorists and saving the lives of army personnel at the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir on October 26, 2023.
Recognising his courage and bravery in neutralising terrorists and saving army personnel, the Government of India conferred the Kirti Chakra Award on Rama Gopal Naidu, which he received from the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, on May 22 in New Delhi.
Naidu hails from Nagaripenta village in Santhabommali mandal of Srikakulam district. His father, Appala Naidu, is a farmer. Naidu is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy (NDA), Pune and also graduated from the Indian Military Academy at Dehradun with a gold medal.
He joined the Indian Army as a Lieutenant and was promoted to Major. Naidu is one of the four Kirti Chakra awardees and is the lone survivor. He is the first person from both Telugu-speaking states to receive the honour from the Indian Army.
Union Minister for Civil Aviation, K Rammohan Naidu, congratulated the army major in New Delhi on Friday for his achievement and called his bravery a symbol of Telugu pride displayed at the LoC. Minister for Agriculture, K Atchannaidu, also expressed joy over the achievement of Ram Gopal Naidu and lauded his courage and intelligence.

'We will return to power in 3 years, KCR will be CM again,' declares KTR
Dallas [USA], June 3 (ANI): Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Working President K. Tarakarama Rao (KTR) claimed that the party will return to power in the state, and his father, K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), will be the Chief Minister again. Speaking at the occasion of Telangana Formation Day and BRS Silver Jubilee celebrations held at the Dr Pepper Arena (Comerica Centre) in Dallas, USA, KTR highlighted the achievements under the leadership of KCR. According to an official statement, speaking on Telangana Formation Day and remembering the struggle to statehood, KTR said, 'Many dream, but few make dreams reality. Just as you chased your dreams, in 2001, a man dreamed not for himself but for four crore Telangana people. Inspired by Mahatma Gandhi and Dr B.R. Ambedkar's call to educate, organise, and agitate, and Martin Luther King Jr.'s 'I Have a Dream,' KCR, the lone warrior, began this journey, vowing, 'Stone me to death if I abandon this movement.' 'In three years, we will return to power, and KCR will be Chief Minister again,' he added. According to an official statement, quoting the timeless adage, 'Janani Janmabhoomischa Swargadapi Gariyasi' (Mother and motherland are greater than heaven), KTR began his address, urging NRIs to excel in their fields abroad while also giving back to their motherland. He called on them to invest in Telangana, stating that the state's journey proves nothing is impossible with determination, resolve, and sincerity. KTR vividly recounted the 14-year relentless struggle led by K Chandrashekhar Rao (KCR), the architect of the Telangana movement, which turned the state into India's number one in just ten years. KTR showcased how Telangana, once neglected and downtrodden due to decades of discrimination under united rule, blossomed into a prosperous, verdant, and vibrant state under KCR's governance. Addressing challenges faced by Telugu students in the U.S. due to Trump-era policies, he assured that BRS would stand by them, announcing the formation of a legal cell to support and protect them in every way. As per the official statement, Rao said, 'The same enthusiasm seen in Telangana during its decennial celebrations is palpable in Dallas today. This is not just a celebration but an occasion to honour the sacrifices of martyrs and every individual who poured their all into achieving Telangana statehood.' KTR lauded the enthusiasm of the NRIs and remembered his earlier visit to Dallas. He said, 'When we decided to celebrate Telangana Formation Day, NRIs unanimously chose Dallas. Today, seeing your enthusiasm and thousands of you gathered here, I don't feel like I'm in America--I feel like I'm in Hyderabad. In 2015, I came to Dallas seeking investments for Telangana. With confidence and faith in our future, we fulfilled our promises and achieved even more, which fills us with pride.' Lauding the governance in BRS' stint in power, he said, 'Under KCR, we seized every opportunity to make Telangana number one. We may have lagged in votes recently, but never in loving Telangana. In power or opposition, for us, Telangana is first, India is first.' 'With schemes like Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima, we prevented farmer suicides, setting a national example. KCR's rule turned migration into reverse migration. Today's wonders stem from KCR's vision--while others debated if Telangana would come, he planned what to do when it did,' he added. Per capita income rose from 1.12 lakh in 2013-14 to 3.56 lakh in 2023. NITI Aayog reports multidimensional poverty dropped from 13.18% in 2015-16 to 3.76% in 2023-24--a 10% reduction in eight years, unmatched in India.' 'KCR revolutionised irrigation. In the post on social media X, Stalin paid tribute to the 'guardian of three Tamil languages'. 'Happy birthday to the Tamil leader Kalaignar, who came as the sun of knowledge to elevate the downtrodden Tamil Nadu! Praise the guardian of the three Tamil languages, who made the classical language special for the Tamil languages, which were seen by the Mu Sangam,' the post stated. Stalin further said in his post: 'Let us be proud to be the siblings of the leader Kalaignar, who ruled Tamil Nadu as the Chief Minister five times, created a lot of history, and led the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, a great movement that guided India, for 50 years, and provided both light and shadow!.' M. Karunanidhi, an influential politician and leader, was a prominent figure in Tamil Nadu's politics and played a crucial role in the Dravidian movement and the state's political landscape. Associated with the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), he served as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu five times, and held his position from 1969 to 1971, 1971 to 1976, 1989 to 1991, 1996 to 2001, and 2006 to 2011. Karunanidhi was known for his powerful oratory skills, and his commitment towards the people of the state, advocating for the rights of the Tamil-speaking population and working towards the cause of social justice. Punjab Police arrests Pakistani spy for sharing information with ISI during Operation Sindoor
The Punjab Police on Tuesday arrested a man from Tarn Taran, identified as Gagandeep Singh, for allegedly sharing information about Indian Army movements during Operation Sindoor with Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). Gagandeep Singh was also in contact with Pakistan-based pro-Khalistan leader Gopal Singh Chawla, Punjab director general of police Gaurav Yadav said. 'Acting swiftly on information received from Counter-Intelligence-Punjab, @TarnTaranPolice, in a joint operation arrests Gagandeep Singh @ Gagan, a resident of Mohalla Rodupur, Gali Nazar Singh Wali, #TarnTaran. Arrested accused had been in contact with the #Pakistan #ISI and Gopal Singh Chawla, sharing sensitive information concerning army movements during #OperationSindhoor,' the Punjab DGP posted on X. The Punjab DGP said investigations have revealed that he was engaged in 'sharing classified details', including troop deployments and strategic locations, posing a threat to national security.
