Lorry fire closes motorway in both directions
A major motorway route was closed in both directions after a lorry caught on fire.
National Highways said the A1(M) in Hertfordshire was closed between junction two for Hatfield and junction three for St Albans.
It said there were delays of 30 minutes for motorists approaching the incident.
Hertfordshire Fire and Rescue said it worked at the scene to tackle the fire.
National Highways said the southbound side of the carriageway reopened at about 16:32 BST, and the northbound stretch opened at 18:46.

Inquest to examine death of woman killed by husband
A coroner has said there remain "sufficient reasons" for an inquest to investigate the death of a woman after her husband was jailed for her murder more than a year ago. Taiwo Abodunde, 41, suffered "catastrophic brain injuries" when Olobunmi Abodunde attacked her at their home in Newmarket, Suffolk, in November 2023. Abodunde, 48, was told he would serve a minimum of 17 years in prison when he was jailed for life last May, having admitted killing his wife with a skateboard. At a pre-inquest hearing, Suffolk Coroner Darren Stewart said an inquest was needed to address matters "that were not dealt with" during the trial at Ipswich Crown Court. At Abodunde's trial, the crown court heard how he had been arrested and then bailed the day before his wife's death after Suffolk Police was called to a domestic incident. The next day, officers returning for a pre-arranged appointment with Mrs Abodunde heard between 40 and 50 "thuds", receiving no reply when they knocked at the door. They were cleared by senior officers to enter the house at 09:45 GMT, about 25 minutes after they had arrived. They found the "lifeless body of Mrs Abodunde with her skull smashed in", prosecutor Stephen Spence KC told the court. The handling of the police's response was examined by the Independent Office for Police Conduct, which ruled two officers would face gross incompetence meetings. Suffolk Police said its investigation to determine whether or not the actions of its attending officers amounted to gross incompetence remained ongoing. At the pre-inquest hearing, Mr Stewart said he would not conduct the inquest "until after those proceedings have completed", and added: "The inquest is a not a blame game." Gauff battles past Keys to reach semi-finals

Unforced errors started to creep into Keys' game during the second set and she quickly found herself on the backfoot at a double break down. Gauff had conceded nine double faults across the opening two sets but it was Keys who finished the match with 60 unforced errors off her racquet, compared to Gauff's 41. That ultimately proved to be the difference as Gauff, having finally found her serve, raced through the deciding set. It is the third time Gauff has beaten Keys in six meetings and marked the first time she has beaten the 30-year-old on clay. Gauff has lost to the eventual winner on each of her last four appearances at the French Open and if she can get through the semi-finals will face either defending champion Iga Swiatek or world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the final.

Road works for 'upgrades' on major Oxfordshire A-road cause delays
Road works for 'upgrades' which have closed a major Oxfordshire A-road are causing delays for drivers this morning. The A34 in Abingdon, at the junction with the A4183 Oxford Road, is being impacted by construction works to "improve/upgrade" the carriageway. Multi-way traffic lights were installed on Monday, June 2 this week to cope with the lane closure, while the southbound slip road onto Oxford Road was closed yesterday, June 3.
