Twix ad pulled following FIVE complaints of 'unsafe driving' promotion

A television advertisement for an adored chocolate bar has been banned for its alleged promotion of 'unsafe driving.'
The ad for the Twix bar, which is made by Mars Inc., was released in March of this year.
The 70s-themed ad shows two cars involved in a car chase. The 70s-themed ad shows two cars involved in a car chase. Pic: Twix
The first car in the chase is driven by a man with long caramel hair, who puts the foot down to get away from the car chasing him.
The man then takes a sharp turn which leads his vehicle to come off the side of the road, overturning a number of times before plummeting to the foot of the cliff.
The car ends up overturned on top of an identical car, quite similar to a Twix bar — with a bar then falling from the sunroof into the other car.
The Twix slogan 'two is more than one' appears on the screen as the two cars head off into the sunset, with the crashed car still on top of the other.
Following five complaints made to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) the authority pulled the ad, stating that it 'condoned unsafe driving.'
Mars Wrigley Confectionary argued that the advertisement was 'set in a separate world that was absurd, fantastical and removed from reality.' The ASA did acknowledge the 'fantastical elements,' but upheld the complaints and rules the advertisement cannot appear again in its current form. Pic: Advertising Standards Authority (ASA)
The ASA did acknowledge the 'fantastical elements,' but upheld the complaints and rules the advertisement cannot appear again in its current form.
'These scenes were depicted as a chase with the emphasis on speed,' they said in their ruling, 'The first man was then shown putting the handbrake on and the car swerved off the road leaving visible skid marks.
'We considered the emphasis on a chase, and the speed inherent to that, and the driving manoeuvers featured would be dangerous and irresponsible if emulated in real life on a public highway.'
Social media users took to the comments of the advertisement via YouTube with many hitting out that it was pulled.
One wrote: 'I was planning to drive like this but now the ad is banned, I won't.'
Another added: 'I had to look it up, after hearing it got banned. If this was in a movie, this wouldn't get banned. People who complained should be told to grow up.'
A third commented: 'I suppose their earlier Twix ads might encourage people to go into the woods and get eaten by bears! The nanny state banning this ad really is getting ridiculous!'

Because I love them," holding up one of the brand's £10 'lucky dip' mystery bags. Katie added: 'This is the kind of thing you can get in them. Yes, I smell everything because it's all new.' The former Loose Woman, dressed in a series of curve-hugging outfits that highlighted her tiny waist and enhanced chest, kept up a cheerful commentary as she worked through the haul. 'I love these,' she said of one pair of flowy shorts. 'They're like shorts underneath - great for holidays or going out. We do love a pocket!' Showing off a dress with a plunging neckline and cinched waist, she declared: 'Look at the back of this! Gorgeous, just easy to wear, even with a pair of wedges.' The whole range, she reminded viewers, was available in sizes six to 20. Katie's video comes after her appearance in Diesel's SS2025 campaign sparked outrage — and a formal ruling from the Advertising Standards Authority. Most read in Celebrity The She Katie Price shows off bum as she gets MORE filler added to it after sparking concern Her boyfriend But the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received 13 complaints that the ad objectified and sexualised women and featured a model who appeared to be unhealthily thin. It was shown all around the world to over 100 countries, with Katie appearing skinny and dressed in a glittering bikini while holding up a Diesel handbag to cover her stomach. It was first featured on the Guardian website on 26 March this year and then shared widely across social media, including on Katie's own accounts. Diesel said the ad was part of a brand campaign called 'The Houseguests', which was designed to challenge stereotypes and support diversity and inclusion in the fashion industry by reflecting a wide range of body types. They argued it showed Katie in 'an active and dynamic pose where she proudly showed off her body and the handbag." Diesel added she "was well-known for her exaggerated appearance and larger-than-life personality and her large lips and breasts formed part of her curated public image. That exaggerated, eccentric and altered appearance formed part of the creativity of the campaign.' They believed the image was a "celebration of Katie's sexuality and empowerment and was not objectifying, degrading or sexualising" and further stated that Katie "was slender, she had excellent muscle tone and was not unhealthily underweight". Partly upholding the complaints, the ASA said the bikini only partially covered Price's breasts, and it considered the positioning of the handbag, in front of her stomach with the handle framing her chest, drew viewers' attention to, and emphasised, that part of her body. The ruling from the ASA said: "While we acknowledged that Ms Price was shown in a confident and self-assured pose and in control, we considered that because of the positioning of the handbag, which had the effect of emphasising and drawing attention to her breasts, the ad sexualised her in a way that objectified her. "We therefore considered the ad was likely to cause serious offence, was irresponsible and breached the Code." However, the ASA did not uphold complaints about Katie appearing to be unhealthily thin, and concluded that the ad was not irresponsible on that basis. They said: "Her hair had been styled away from her face in a beehive style, in such a way as to elongate her face and her head was slightly tilted downwards which added to that effect, but we did not consider she appeared gaunt. "None of her bones were obviously protruding." The watchdog ruled that the ad must not appear again, adding: "We told Diesel to ensure their future ads were socially responsible and did not cause serious or widespread offence." Rapper Yung Filly faces two new sexual assault charges

British rapper Yung Filly has faced additional charges over allegations he sexually assaulted a woman while on tour in Australia. The internet personality, real name Andres Felipe Valencia Barrientos, appeared before Perth District Court on Friday. In March, he pleaded not guilty to three counts of assault occasioning bodily harm, one of strangulation and four counts of sexual penetration without consent. Court documents filed on Friday revealed he faced two new counts of sexual penetration without consent. No plea has been entered for the two new charges. His case is listed for a 10-day trial starting on 20 July 2026. The online star has been on bail since October 2024 after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman aged in her 20s in his hotel room after he performed at a venue in Hillarys, a coastal suburb of Perth, the previous month. During his initial court hearing in October, Barrientos was granted bail with strict conditions. Court documents revealed Barrientos pleaded guilty to a reckless driving charge on 5 December. The social media star was clocked driving at more than 96mph on the Roe Highway near the Perth suburb of High Wycombe on 17 November. Barrientos has appeared on several BBC shows and is known for collaborating with the YouTube collective Beta Squad. SHE'S arguably the most famous person on kids' TV at the moment, and has just had a whole line of toys and booked released for her fans. But just where did Ms Rachel come from, and how did she find fame? Ms Rachel's real name is Rachel Griffin Accurso, and she worked as a music teacher in a public pre-school in New York before starting her YouTube channel. The Songs for Littles channel was created after she discovered there were barely any resources for her son, who had a speech delay. The tunes, made up from classic children's songs and nursery rhymes, with a twist, were composed by Rachel and her husband - Broadway composer Aron Accurso. She also started on TikTok, where she acquired over two and a half million followers by March 2023. She has also faced her fair share of controversy, such as when she offered to sell Cameo videos to raise money for Save the Children - mentioning the Gaza Strip, Sudan, Ukraine, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rachel said she was "bullied online" for the move, and has since disabled comments on some of her Instagram, TikTok and YouTube posts. The highly-anticipated Ms Rachel toys were released in September, and are expected to be one of the biggest sellers this Christmas. To which she replied: "Just once!" "What juju did Ms Rachel activate to get all these kids hypnotised into action???" another questioned. With someone else replying: "I'm not a mum but let me tell you... I had my baby nephew while my brother and wife was out of the country and Ms Rachel saved my life!"
