6,000 N.B. Power customers without power, some schools closed
Over 6,000 N.B. Power customers woke up in the dark on Thursday morning in the western region of the province, closing several schools.
Dominique Couture, spokesperson for N.B. Power, said the issue is an outage in the transmission system. She said it is suspected that the outage may have been caused by contact with trees, but the cause remains under investigation and will be confirmed as more information comes in.
She said the outage began last night and crews have been working overnight.
N.B. Power's estimated restoration time on its website says noon to 1 p.m.
The Anglophone West School District closed several schools because of the outage:
Carleton North High School
Florenceville Elementary School
Florenceville Middle School
Centreville Community School
Bristol Elementary School
Bath Community School

Lethbridge Bulls gearing up for the 2025 WCBL season
The boys of summer are back for another season, and the Lethbridge Bulls are gearing up for what they hope will be a championship campaign. The boys of summer are back for another season, and the Lethbridge Bulls are gearing up for what they hope will be a championship campaign. LETHBRIDGE, ALTA. — The Lethbridge Bulls are gearing up for what they hope will be a championship campaign. Bulls players and coaches spent much of Tuesday preparing for the start of the WCBL season. Despite not having much time to practise, the team feels good about where they're at. 'It seems like we got some dudes with a lot of pop, good contact players, good defence. That's just going to be an all-around effort,' said Drew Bufford, a catcher entering his first season with the Bulls. The Bulls are coming off their winningest season in team history with a 36-20 record last summer. Despite the success, the Bulls were bounced by the Okotoks Dawgs in three games in their first-round playoff matchup. 'You just have to play the same as we did last year. Keep the same energy, keep (the) same focus. I think our arms are going to be what is going to help us a lot this year, because we kind of fell off at the end and I think (if) we stick with that, we'll be good,' said third-year outfielder and pitcher Jack Kalisky. The team will have to rely on lots of new faces to carry the squad to the playoffs this season, as they only have a handful of players coming back from last year. 'I like the kind of competition level where guys are trying to earn the pencil themselves every day. So, I think it's going to be a breath of fresh air having some new guys in here,' said head coach Ryan MacDonald. Lethbridge will start the summer off with a five-game road trip before their home opener on June 5. Coaches see it as a good way for the team to bond quickly. 'It's just nice to get on the road and kind of get their feet wet and see, you know, kind of some other programs around the league,' said MacDonald. 'Shake off the cobwebs for the first couple. You know, a lot of these guys haven't played baseball since the first of May, end of April with conference tournaments and stuff like that.' The Bulls open their season against the Brooks Bombers on Friday night.

K-pop cover dance festival coming to Calgary
H1-KEY, a Korean K-pop group, will be the special guests June 15 at the K-pop cover dance festival at the Jubilee in Calgary. Korean Cultural Centre Canada (KCCC) is bringing one of South Korea's most popular exports to Calgary for a K-pop cover dance festival on June 15 at the Southern Jubilee Auditorium. That will be the night when 12 Canadian K-pop cover dance teams, which have been chosen from a first round of online submissions, will compete onstage at the Jubilee Auditorium to be named the national champion. The winning team will represent Canada in a global cover dance competition in Korea, where they will compete against cover dance teams from around the world. According to a spokesperson from KCCC, Calgary will be represented by at least four teams, with other competitors coming from Ottawa, Vancouver, Waterloo, Montreal, Toronto (2) and Saskatoon. One other team is from Alberta, they said, but it's not clear whether they're from Edmonton or Calgary. The festival will also feature a performance by Korean girl group H1-KEY, who had a hit in 2023 called 'Rose Blossom.' The members of H1-KEY will also serve as part of the judging panel. Tickets -- which are free apart from a $3.50 Ticketmaster fee -- are available here.
