Scam warning as festival season gets underway
Festival and gig-goers are being warned to be cautious when purchasing tickets as a summer of events gets underway, with demand for gigs making it a prime time for scams to take place.
Concert season is well and truly underway with Zach Bryan playing three sold out nights at Phoenix Park over the weekend and Olivia Rodrigo at Marlay Park on Tuesday.
There is plenty more to come with OASIS' two nights at Croke Park in August and Lana Del Rey and Dua Lipa among the acts taking to the stage for Irish fans before that. Electric Picnic also takes place in late August with Fatboy Slim, Chappell Roan and Kings of Leon some of the acts headlining the three-day festival.
With plenty of festivals and gigs to look forward to and fans eager to get their hands on sold-out tickets, Ticketmaster have urged music fans to be alert when purchasing tickets.
The demand for gigs means its a prime opportunity for fraudsters to catch unsuspecting fans out with Ticketmaster advising people to avoid social media resellers and unofficial platforms and buy 'only from official channels.'
They said: 'The most reliable way to secure genuine tickets is through an event's official ticketing agent or venue. Fans should always refer to the artist's official website, where approved ticket providers are listed.'
Unfortunately, cunning scammers are now able to replicate websites to make it appear to be legitimate, with anyone purchasing tickets for events reminded to check the URL to ensure you are definitely on the official website.
Mobile tickets are a better option as scammers can sell duplicates of the same printed ticket, whereas Ticketmaster's mobile tickets use a dynamic barcode which refreshes every 15 seconds to prevent fraud.

Oasis give update on last minute ticket sales as Dublin pop-up shop location revealed

More info Oasis have given an update on last minute tickets - as fans eager to get their merch ahead of the band's Croke Park gigs can now prepare, as a pop-up store location has been revealed The Dublin pop-up will be located at St Stephen's Green. It will open on August 4 and continue through to August 17, but places are expected to be limited. Now due to demand fans are being urged to book a place for their visit to avoid long queues and disappointment. Slots can be booked on SeeTickets and it appears that places are filling up fast. There will be exclusive merch, including limited editions vinyls and collaborations with brands. Fans looking to nab something special are being urged to pop in early. Oasis have also given an update on whether any last minute tickets will be made available. In a statement on Instagram, they said: "As the shows are getting closer, Oasis promoters may be able to release a very limited number of additional tickets for sale once final sight lines are checked and the production is fine tuned. "These final production releases will happen over the coming days. The band will play Dublin's Croke Park on August 16 and 17 as part of their eagerly awaited comeback tour. It will be the first time in 16 years that the Liam Gallagher fronted band will take to the stage due to historic rifts with brother and bandmate Noel. The reunion shows kick off in Cardiff's Principality Stadium on July 4 and 5 before the Manchester group play a series of homecoming shows at Heaton Park and five dates at Wembley. The band will then play two gigs at Murrayfield in Edinburgh before heading to GAA HQ on August 16 and 17. The reunited line-up features Liam and Noel Gallagher alongside new drummer Joey Waronker and returning guitarists Gem Archer and Bonehead with Andy Bell resuming bass duties. The group are currently rehearsing for the tour with Noel telling good pal Bono he is "shocked" at how good the band are sounding. During an appearance on Apple Music 1 with Zane Lowe, Bono said: "They're both funny. Shoppers from all over the city rushed to the store to snap up quality clothing at pre-war prices in Ireland's first 'shopping frenzy'. During the excitement, a window was forced in and the police had to be called to help control the crowds hoping to bag founder Ben Dunne's 'Better Value' bargains. Dunnes later opened more stores in the 1950s and began to sell groceries in 1960 - starting with apples and oranges.
