Semitruck fire extinguished on I-40 in Lenoir City
LENOIR CITY, Tenn. (WATE) — A semitruck fire was extinguished on I-40 East near the Highway 321 exit early on Thursday, the Loudon County Sheriff's Office posted.
LCSO posted about the fire at 2:38 a.m. saying that they, the Tennessee Highway Patrol, Priority Emergency Medical Services and Loudon County Fire / Rescue were on the scene. The fire temporarily shut down I-40 east around mile marker 364.4.
'Closure': Graveside service held for two children killed by adopted parents
Around 3 a.m., LCSO announced that the fire had been extinguished, and one lane of I-40 was reopened. As of 7:30 a.m., the Tennessee Department of Transportation's SmartWay map still showed the other lane as closed due to the fire.

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A deadly single-vehicle crash temporarily shut down Interstate 840 Wednesday afternoon. The Tennessee Department of Transportation had an incident marker on the SmartWay map for a single-vehicle crash at mile marker 64.8 on Interstate 840 reported at 2:45 p.m. Wednesday. ⏩ Erin Zeigler, a regional communications officer for TDOT, posted to social media that all westbound lanes of Interstate 840 were closed near mile marker 65 — Exit 65 — due to a single-vehicle crash. TDOT also told News 2 that a helicopter was en route to the scene. Minutes later, Zeigler added that westbound drivers were moving along the right shoulder. What to know before hitting the road in East Tennessee for Memorial Day weekend
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — As interstate construction work is suspended in Tennessee for Memorial Day weekend and a near-record number of travelers are expected, 6 News anchor Bo Williams has what drivers need to know. Tennessee Department of Transportation crews and contractors stopped all road construction work that requires lane closures from noon on Friday, May 23, through 6:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 27. However, drivers will still come across some long-term lane closures on construction projects that will remain in place. This pause is in anticipation of increased holiday travel. Airport Road in Roane County closed after 'large' crack spotted 'We want to do our part to help everyone have an enjoyable and safe holiday weekend and keep traffic flowing as smoothly and efficiently as possible,' said Deputy Governor & TDOT Commissioner Butch Eley. 'We also want to remind drivers that it is the law to move over and slow down for first responders and emergency vehicles, including TDOT HELP trucks that will be on patrol during the holiday weekend. So far this year, we've had 47 incidents where a driver hit a TDOT vehicle or equipment.' Several roads in Sevierville will be closed on Sunday, May 25, for the Smoky Mountain Thunder Memorial Motorcycle Ride.
