Last-Minute Memorial Day Sales: Save Hundreds Off Our Favorite Lab-Tested Robot Vacuums
With so many robot vacuums on the market, it's tough to know which ones are actually worth your money. Time is running out to take advantage of last-minute Memorial Day vacuum deals, but choosing which one to take advantage of isn't always easy. That's where we come in. At CNET, our expert product testers put as many robot vacuums as they can through a series of thorough, lab-based evaluations to help you shop smarter all year round. We combine that with insights from our Deals team to ensure you're getting real value.
The CNET Testing Labs team has put over 30 robot vacuums through the wringer using sand to gauge how well each one performs on hardwood, low-pile carpet and high-pile carpet. You'll see some big-name brands in our results below, but our top recommendation might not be the one you expect.
It seems like just about every robot vacuum on the market has a list price higher than $500. Some of the most expensive models go for $1,000 or more and, while great, top-tier features like lidar sensors or AI mapping functions aren't enough to justify the price for many folks. That's why we found a great budget option that performed highly on our tests: Yeedi's M12 Pro Plus.
The Yeedi M12 Pro Plus had an overall pick-up score of 71.6%, landing in the top 10 but only a couple of percentage points behind second place. It shined on our hardwood floors test, picking up 96.5% of particles, the highest score on hardwood of all the robot vacuums we've tested. Our experts found that its navigation was also particularly impressive in our light path test: "The robot kept a very tight path around our complicated table setup, hit the corners well and missed very few spots." It normally goes for a whopping $900 but right now you can save more than 50%, bringing the cost down to $400, making it the best budget option out of all our high-performing robot vacs.
Say hello to our robot vacuum test room. It's specifically designed to simulate furniture and obstacles a robot will encounter in the real world.

If you have a little more room in your budget, the iRobot Roomba 10 Max Combo is a solid option with a huge $600 discount. It can vacuum and mop your floors and the self-emptying feature means it won't need you to clean it so often. The mop even dries after it cleans, so you won't be left with wet floors just waiting for you to slip on. Other features include an auto-retracting mop pad, advanced obstacle avoidance technology and a four-stage cleaning system including an edge-sweeping brush for those hard-to-reach corners. Order yours now and you'll pay just $800 rather than the usual $1,400.
And for an absolute beast of a robot vacuum, the Dreame X40 Ultra is the only vacuum that averaged more than 90% in our pick-up testing, beating other options by 15%. Not only that, it also has some of the highest scores in each individual category. It has a 95.2% pick-up rate for hardwood floors and a 90.2% rate for low-pile carpet, whereas other top-performing robot vacs had a score in the 60% to 70% range. But with high performance comes a pretty high price tag. This vacuum normally retails for a massive $1,500, although Prime members can score one for $500 off, dropping the price to $1,000.

Treasury Yields Rise on Stable Employment Ahead of CPI
1600 ET – U.S. job creation slows less than expected, reducing odds of a dovish Fed. Bond markets react with a selloff that boosts yields. May's job creation slows less than forecast and unemployment remains at 4.2%. CME data show diminishing odds of a rate cut before September. Two or more cuts this year still represent the highest odds, but bets on only one or no cut rise. Wells Fargo foresees May's 12-month core CPI, due Wednesday, accelerating to 3.3% from April's 2.8%. The 10-year gains 0.089 percentage point this week, including 0.155 p.p. today, to 4.507%. The two-year rises 0.125 p.p. in the week and 0.115 p.p. today, to 4.039%. ( @ptrevisani) 0846 ET – U.S. job creation didn't slow as much as expected in May, spurring a bonds selloff that takes Treasury yields higher. May payrolls slowed to 139,000 from a downwardly revised 147,000. Economists surveyed by WSJ forecast 125,000. Unemployment was unchanged at 4.2%, as expected. The data likely supports expectations of a Fed hold. Yields were already rising ahead of payrolls, as markets watched the Trump-Musk break up. They rose faster after the data, particularly in longer maturities. The 10-year trades at 4.452%% and the two-year at 3.985%. ( @ptrevisani)

The ‘Terrifying' Impact of Trump-Musk Breakup on National Security and Space Programs
This week's rapid, unscheduled disassembly of Elon Musk's bromance with Donald Trump has left officials at America's space and security agencies reeling. One NASA official, wary of the agency's dependence on SpaceX as the space exploration industry's leading recipient of government contracts, said the bitter public feud between the president and the former DOGE chief had at first been 'entertaining' but that later, 'it turned really terrifying,' per the Washington Post. Musk and Trump's falling out was received with similar horror at the Pentagon, the Post's report continued where officials initially thought it was 'funny' watching the pair trade barbs on their respective social media sites before 'there was a realization that we're not watching TV. This is a real issue.' Both NASA and the Department of Defence have reportedlt embarked on a blitz of calls in recent days to SpaceX competitors, urging firms like Sierra Space, Rocket Lab, Stoke Space and Blue Origin, owned by Amazon's billionaire founder Jeff Bezos, to accelerate development of their rocket systems after Trump threatened to cancel Musk's contracts on Thursday night. Contracts held by SpaceX with the U.S. government, worth many billions of dollars, cover a wide variety of services, from launching satellites for the Pentagon and intelligence agencies to flying cargo and people to and from the International Space Station. Officials at NASA were apparently particularly concerned by Musk's threats, which he's since walked back, to discontinue SpaceX's use of its Dragon craft, which would potentially have left the agency without means of transporting astronauts to the orbiting research station. 'When you realize that he's willing to shut everything down just on an impulse, that kind of behavior and the dependence on him is dangerous,' as one member of the agency told the Post. 'I can tell you there is deep concern within NASA.'
