
These Might Be the Last V-8-Powered Jaguars Ever
Jaguar
is going through a major rebranding right now. It stopped producing every model last year except for the
F-Pace
, but even it is on borrowed time. The automaker is getting ready to say goodbye to the model—and its V-8 engine—as it shifts to electric, giving the SUV a limited-run sendoff in Australia with the SVR 575 Ultimate Edition.
Under the hood is Jaguar's supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine, which debuted 15 years ago. It makes 567 horsepower in the F-Pace, sending the SUV from zero to 62 miles per hour in 4.0 seconds. It has a 178-mph top speed.
Jag is only offering the 575 Ultimate Edition in four colors: Sorrento Yellow, British Racing Green Gloss, Icy White Gloss, and Ligurian Black Satin. Each one features the Black Exterior Pack, black roof rails, Ultimate Edition badging, and 22-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, the cabin features Ebony Semi-Aniline leather performance seats with carbon-fiber trim. The front seats are heated and cooled, too. There's also a head-up display, privacy glass, and a panoramic roof.

The SVR 575 Ultimate Edition costs AUS$182,235, or $118,768 at current exchange rates. Jaguar is only making 60 of these high-performance SUVs, and they're all for the Australian market. If you're lucky enough to get one, it'll come with a unique car cover.

Exiting 2023 you could argue Rivian had more momentum than any EV maker out there, but that has since dissipated and left investors wondering if the automaker can return to growth in 2025. The harsh truth is that the automotive industry is extremely competitive, and it takes an automaker with a full lineup to be truly successful. That hampers Rivian's ability to post extreme growth as the company only offers the R1T, R1S, and EDVs. But what's worse is that Rivian's only offerings are aging, and demand for them is waning -- it's been a noticeable trend. So the question facing investors is: Can the automaker return to growth in 2025 before the highly anticipated R2 launch in 2026? Investors in the know understand that Rivian has a small consumer base, but that it's a highly passionate base as well. There are Rivian adventure groups all across social media with consumers planning trips among other things. Rivian is attempting to tap into this passion with its first major marketing push, which the company could certainly use to help stoke demand for its vehicles. "This campaign is about celebrating the people who define what Rivian truly is," said Vice President of Marketing Denise Cherry on Rivian's blog. "Our vehicles are made to empower exploration and adventure, but it's the stories our owners create that give them real soul. For our first 360 brand campaign, we wanted to make sure our owners were the spotlight." Rivian has largely relied on word of mouth and organic growth to spread its brand awareness, but with demand waning over the past year, this marks the right time for the company to try to drive interest and demand for its R1 vehicles. Then it'll be time for the R1 vehicles to hand the baton to the R2 in 2026, which starts at roughly $45,000, or about half the price of Rivian's R1 vehicles. With 155,000 production units annually the R2 will be able to nearly double production of the R1S and R1T. If demand is there, expect deliveries to take off and accelerate through 2026. Investors also can't forget Rivian's big-time move to swap initial production of the R2 from its Georgia plant, which is under construction, to its Illinois plant thanks to an expansion of the factory. It's a move that not only fills production capacity at its original plant, but that saved the company roughly $2.25 billion. The harsh truth is that Rivian is unlikely to return to growth in 2025, unless its marketing campaign works miracles to drive immense demand. The automaker is essentially all-in on its R2, which boasts a much lower-cost bill of materials and improved tech, and will rely on the R2, R3, and R3X to take the company into its next growth stage. The near-term environment for EVs is pessimistic, especially with the current administration pulling support for the EV industry, and Rivian lacks any visible catalysts for the stock in 2025. But investors would be wise to take the long-term approach with Rivian. The company just achieved two consecutive quarters of gross profit and if it executes the production ramp-up of the R2 in 2026, it will be a much better year for investors. The Super-Affordable 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV Is Coming Soon—Very Soon
We've known Chevrolet's next-generation Bolt, its most affordable electric model, was due later this year for quite some time. So while it might not seem newsworthy, at first, that General Motors effectively re-confirmed that fact in a humdrum press release touting investments in U.S. manufacturing, it's actually quite a big deal. After all, with many automakers scaling back their EV ambitions or frantically trying to spin up hybrids, GM is largely staying the course—a bet that's paying off handsomely, as the new affordable Equinox EV has sold so well, it's moved Chevy into second place on the EV sales charts. The new Bolt, which we've rendered above and will cost even less than the Equinox EV (pictured below and in the gallery), should push Chevrolet's electric sales even higher. The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt EV will begin production in late 2025, with availability likely starting in early 2026. Expected to cost around $30,000, it aims to offer nearly 300 miles of range and improve on the old Bolt's affordability and design. That old Bolt (below) also delivered more than 250 miles of range, a big reason to expect the new one to land somewhere between that distance and the Equinox EV's 315-mile best. The Bolt's lower, smaller body relative to that electric SUV should help its aerodynamics, while its smaller frontal area will surely boost range even if its battery is smaller than its Equinox sibling's. The Equinox EV already sets a smart standard for basic-yet-functional interior design, and the Bolt will no doubt borrow heavily from that model—namely its Google-equipped digital displays. Though the Bolt will be cheap, the Equinox (as well as the stylish yet affordable Trax) shows Chevy is getting very good at designing low-cost interiors that don't feel low-buck or crummy. We're expecting the Bolt to be larger than before but smaller than the Equinox EV, as well as less upright-feeling than its dumpling-shaped predecessor. It's possible GM tries to inject a little more driving fun into the Bolt, something the old version, while comfortable and refined, sorely lacked. All of GM's EV learnings up to this point are being poured into the Bolt. The automaker has learned a lot about EV customers, their wants, and their pain points, as well as its own technologies; all of that will be synthesized through a filter focused on affordability and accessibility. We're excited to see the new Bolt, and more important, its price. After all, the affordable EV space is heating up. There is a new Nissan Leaf on the way for 2026, and Tesla has promised (again) a more affordable model to slot in beneath its current Model 3. And with the $7,500 EV tax credit in trouble, EVs that are both good and cheap—with or without tax credits—will be critical to serving customers eager to go electric, but less eager to spend big money to do so.
