New images of £1,200,000 cannabis haul ‘drugs mule' didn't know 'was in suitcase
New photos have revealed a massive haul of drugs that a former flight attendant denies she was carrying in two large suitcases.
Charlotte May Lee, 21, from south London, was arrested last week on suspicion of smuggling 46kg of cannabis into Sri Lanka from Thailand.
A set of new photos obtained by the Daily Mail shows her dressed all in white at Colombo's Police Narcotic Unit just after her arrest.
The other photos show the large amount of Kush – a synthetic form of cannabis – found in two black suitcases.
She was working on a booze cruise in Thailand but decided to go to Sri Lanka for three weeks while she waited for her 30-day visa to renew.
She is being held behind bars at Negombo Prison and told the Daily Mail: 'I had never seen them before.
'I didn't expect it at all when they pulled me over at the airport. I thought it was going to be filled with all my stuff.'
The prison where she could end up, Welikada Prison, has been described as 'hell', with rats scuttling around and maggots in food.
Charlotte also revealed that she has not eaten food in days because it is too spicy.
She said: 'I am trying my best to stay positive because what else can you do?'
The 21-year-old also said she felt like she had 'no human rights' in the prison and that she was sleeping in a corridor with no beds or blankets.
She believes the drugs were planted and explained that they must have been put in her suitcase while she was on a night out.
The part-time beautician and former cabin crew worker for TUI had already packed her bags before her early flight, and that was when she claims they were put in her suitcase.
She said: 'They must have planted it then…I know who did it.'
Her detention bears a similarity to Bella May Culley – who was arrested at an airport in Georgia for trying to smuggle 14kg of cannabis. More Trending
Both women had flown alone from Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport, having reportedly travelled there to meet a mysterious male.
Both women are accused of being drug mules for organised crime gangs.
Bella also faces a hefty sentence in an intimidating foreign prison in Georgia – Prison No. 5.
Human rights groups have criticised the treatment of prisoners there, with a Human Rights Watch report finding it 'severely overcrowded'.

It is believed he may have been the intermediary between drug pushers in the UK and suppliers in Thailand and was described as having a "significant role". Emmanuel-Thomas, 34, has now been jailed after he pleaded guilty to fraudulent evasion of the prohibition on the importation of cannabis. Judge Alexander Mills told him: "It is through your own actions you will no longer be known as a professional footballer. " "You will be known as a criminal. A professional footballer who threw it all away." Chelmsford Crown Court heard the drugs were brought into the UK by Emmanuel-Thomas' girlfriend Yasmin Piotrowska. She had flown business class to Stanstead Airport with Rosie Rowland to carry put the plot on September 2. Emmanuel-Thomas was linked to the discovery by numerous WhatsApp messages, voice notes and pictures. The court was told it was "apparent" he had recruited the women, who were cleared after prosecutors offered no evidence in their case. He used his influenced as a professional footballer to sway the two women - offering them £2,500 plus a free holiday to Thailand. After Piotrowska was stopped by border officials, Emmanuel-Thomas messaged Rowland to tell her to "delete everything from our chat if you can". The footballer then travelled to Stratford, East London, on September 5 and replaced his mobile. He was sacked by Scottish club Greenock Morton following his arrest last year. Emmanuel-Thomas is a former England under-17 and under-19 international. He began his career at Arsenal before playing for various clubs - including Ipswich Town, Bristol City, QPR, Livingston and Aberdeen. The striker signed a six-month contract with Greenock Morton in July. David Philips, NCA senior investigating officer, said: "Organised crime groups make significant profits by trafficking and selling perceived high-quality cannabis legally grown in the US, Canada and Thailand illegally in the UK. "Organised criminals like Emmanuel-Thomas can be very persuasive and offer payment to couriers. But the risk of getting caught is very high and it simply isn't worth it." Emmanuel-Thomas is the latest Brit to be caught smuggling drugs. Foreign Office updates Greece travel advice that could mean a 'long jail sentence' if ignored
Travel guidance for the destination was updated on Wednesday, June 4. British tourists travelling to Greece this summer have been warned of the penalties for drug smuggling after the Foreign Office updated its travel guidance for the popular holiday hotspot. Greek travellers are being made aware of improved scanning technology which is now being used at several airports across the country ahead of the holiday season. The updated equipment increases the chance of tourists being caught if they are carrying illegal substances. Anyone found possessing illegal drugs risk facing long prison terms in brutal conditions with strict punishments. On June 4, the Foreign Office (FO) updated their travel guidance for Greece. They wrote: "Illegal drugs, including cannabis, carry severe penalties. You should expect a long jail sentence and heavy fines for possessing, using or smuggling illegal drugs, including when transiting through airports. "Airports in Greece have excellent technology and security for detecting illegal items. This is also used to scan the baggage of transiting passengers." The updated guidance comes after an 18-year-old British teenager was arrested and accused of illegally purchasing, possessing and importing substantial amounts of narcotics, including cannabis. Bella May Culley, from Billingham in Teesside, is thought to have disappeared from Thailand, only to be apprehended at Tbilisi International Airport in Georgia, some 3,700 miles away, on these charges. According to reports, she was allegedly caught attempting to smuggle 14kg of cannabis into the country. The 18-year-old has been held there for 55 days as the prosecution continues its investigations. The BBC reports that this might be prolonged by another seven months. The FO also advises tourists that the Greek police will arrest them if they are caught behaving rowdy or indecent, especially where excessive drinking is involved. Some fancy dress costumes may be regarded as offensive and therefore against decency laws. According to the FO website: "The courts are likely to impose a heavy fine or a prison sentence if they judge the behaviour to be illegal. Your travel insurance may not cover you if you miss flights because of an alcohol-related arrest. " It is also illegal to smoke in indoor public places in Greece, including shopping malls and transport hubs. Anyone caught smoking could get a fine of up to 500 euros.
