Kansas big man Hunter Dickinson added to pre-draft workouts for Sixers
The Philadelphia 76ers have some work to do in order to move forward in the 2025 NBA draft. They currently own the No. 3 pick in the draft as well as the No. 35 pick in Round 2 so President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey and his staff are putting together pre-draft workouts to get everything ready to go for June 25.
The focus for the Sixers will be what they do with that No. 3 selection. They will either bring in one of the top talents in the draft, or they can trade back and acquire more draft assets as well as a win-now player. There are plenty of teams who would be willing to trade up to No. 3.
With that being said, the Sixers have to think about the second round of the draft, too. They can bring in a solid player at No. 35, or they can even look to the undrafted free agent pool and bring in another good, young piece as they have in the past.
Per Cody Taylor of The Rookie Wire, the Sixers have brought in Kansas big man Hunter Dickinson for a workout. A 5-year collegiate--three years with Michigan and two with Kansas--Dickinson averaged 17.4 points, 10.0 rebounds, and 2.1 assists in the 2024-25 season and had a decorated college career. He was named the 2021 Big Ten Rookie of the Year, was named to the All-Big Ten team three times, and twice named to the All-Big 12 Team.
Dickinson joins Rutgers' Ace Bailey, Baylor's VJ Edgecombe, and Wisconsin's John Blackwell on the known list of players who have worked out for the Sixers. Blackwell returned to college, but the other three remain in the draft. Dickinson, 24, will likely be an undrafted free agent candidate for Philadelphia.

ABC will show NBA Finals starting lineups player intros in Game 5: 'HOW DID IT TAKE THEM THIS LONG'

NBA fans have begged ESPN/ABC to make the NBA Finals feel a little more like an NBA Finals and asked at the very least they show starting lineup introductions to add some pizzazz to Finals production. Apparently, the TV executives have listened. Per ESPN's Shams Charania, the network will broadcast the Oklahoma City Thunder and Indiana Pacers starting lineup introductions for tonight's Game 5. According to Charania, it's the first time starting introductions will be shown at the Finals since 2013. Earlier this series, fans lamented there was no NBA Finals logo on the court in Game 1, and then roasted the league for adding virtual logos in Game 2. NBA commissioner Adam Silver said Finals logos on the court disappeared a year ago because some players complained the temporary decals were slippery. The digital versions weren't much better. But hey, at least the league and its TV partners are listening. As folks on social media pointed out, sometimes bullying works. HOW DID IT TAKE THEM THIS LONG LMAOOO Awesome decision. Kids watching will especially like this. I remember watching ncaa final 4s and the starting lineups were some of the best parts of the viewing experience. Hawks Take Clear Stance on Trae Young Trade Rumors: Report

Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources. Newsweek AI is in beta. Translations may contain inaccuracies—please refer to the original content. As the NBA offseason gets underway, there have already been some big names placed on the trade block. The main ones have been star forward Kevin Durant of the Phoenix Suns and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks. More NBA news: LeBron James Offers Big Update on Potential NBA Coaching Plans But there is another All-Star who has seen his name placed into trade rumors for years. That would be star guard Trae Young of the Atlanta Hawks, and many around the NBA have believed the team could look to move on from him. Due to the Hawks being in the middle of the pack in the NBA, it would make sense for them to completely enter a rebuild. Atlanta could sell high on Young, landing some strong future assets in return for the All-Star talent. However, the Hawks don't seem to be willing to move Young at this time. According to NBA insider Brett Siegel of ClutchPoints, the Hawks front office has yet to have any serious discussions with opposing teams about Young. "While some have suggested Atlanta should leverage these selections and try to move into the top 10, the Hawks appear to be comfortable adding two more young talents to build the future of their roster. Despite changes in their front office, the Hawks have not held serious Trae Young trade discussions, sources said." More Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images/Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images This report doesn't mean that Young won't be traded this summer, but rather than Atlanta, may need to be wowed to make a deal go down. Young has been the face of the Hawks franchise for years, and he is beloved in the city of Atlanta. More NBA news: Lakers Insider Opens Door on Potential Walker Kessler Trade Last season, Young averaged 24.2 points, 3.1 rebounds, 11.6 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Atlanta surprisingly reached the NBA Play-In Tournament under the leadership of Young, but they fell to the Miami Heat before the postseason began. Young has value around the league, but his defense remains a massive negative for any opposing team. Opponents target Young on defense due to his limited frame, and any team interested in him would need a plan to cover up his deficiencies. Atlanta may be better off trading Young before it's too late, with his value still high. The star guard has one more year on his deal past this season, and could enter free agency if the Hawks don't start trending toward winning again. How 2023 Trade With Indiana Pacers Helped Get Tom Thibodeau Fired By Knicks

How 2023 Trade With Indiana Pacers Helped Get Tom Thibodeau Fired By Knicks originally appeared on Athlon Sports. By now, it's old news that the New York Knicks fired their head coach, Tom Thibodeau, after leading them to their best season since 1999. Reports have since come out indicating that the Knicks had long planned for Thibodeau's dismissal, even before the Indiana Pacers sent them packing, and that they seemingly have no plan to replace him. Advertisement While the Pacers, who foiled their plans to make the Finals, can get credit for ending his five-year run with their rival, a 2023 trade helped close the coffin on his Knicks' tenure. Under coach Thibodeau and team president Leon Rose, the Knicks dealt the then-underperforming Obi Toppin to the Pacers for two distant second-round picks. During his second college season with the Dayton Flyers, Toppin was an All-American, the Player of the Year, and won the Wooden and Naismith Awards before being picked by the Knicks eighth overall in 2020. Toppin never dominated the NBA like he did college, although he turned into a solid stretch-four who could shoot, rebound, and get to the paint, although he never was given much run in Thibodeau's strict rotations, averaging just 14 minutes per game in three seasons in New York. Advertisement With the Pacers, he has become a critical bench piece and pushes the pace when the starters sit, and has fully bought into both his role and the team culture. The Knicks fired Thibodeau in large part thanks to his unwillingness to give his second unit a bigger role, and had they stayed patient with Toppin, Thibs would have had a trusted player to use. Toppin averaged nine points and 4.7 rebounds in the Conference Finals against his former team and scored 17 points off the bench on two occasions against the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA Finals.
