Banish the three Ds: disorder, disarray, and disorganization.
1. A pair of elastic shoelaces so you can turn any shoes into slip-ons — even if you're wearing boots or high-top Converse. You have places to be and not a lot of time to get there!
www.amazon.com
Promising review: "I hate tying my shoes. I really do. As a result, I don't really stray from slip-ons, flats, flip-flops etc... These made it so sneakers are part of my world again. I know it seems like a little thing, but these made me so happy." — Amazon Customer
Get them from Amazon for $11.99 (available in 39 colors).
2. A pack of disposable shower hair catchers for people who often forget to clean the drain after a shower and too squeamish to maintain a device like the TubShroom. You can just close your eyes and throw these away when they're too hair-infested.
Promising review:"For anyone with long hair, drainage clogging in the shower is a pain. So THANKS to whoever thought of such a simple but clever solution. They stick perfectly and the glue lasts like three weeks. It literally does not let a hair pass, and it's just so easy to place and remove. I wish I had known about this product before! A must-buy." — MER

3. A moving bird toy complete with a catnip pouch to preoccupy your feline friend with their own version of Flappy Bird so they're not interrupting you. The USB-charged gizmo has three flapping settings so your cat can work on their hunting skills and have a lot more fun than we had playing that infuriating game.
Grab some extra catnip here.
Promising reviews: "My cats love this!! It's incredibly durable; my cats drop it off their cat tree daily, and it's fine. Plus, it has a great battery life; I only charge it a few times a month." — Madilynn | OddyNuffGeckos
"My cat is OBSESSED with this bird!! Just buy it. I left it in the box and plugged in the charger. I walked away. My cat found it in the box and hasn't stopped playing with it since! He chases it, wrestles with it, bites, and licks it." — Amazon Customer
Get it from Amazon for $17.98.
4. A Revlon hot air brush for when you wanna look camera-ready but don't have time for a full hair routine. It'll detangle and blow out all types of hair (including type 4 curls and coils) in what feels like the blink of an eye. Glossy, effortless waves are just a few brushes away!
Promising reviews:"I am a licensed cosmetologist of 30+ years and I couldn't be more pleased! Salon-perfect, shiny, bouncy blowouts! Dries and styles in one or two easy passes ( on damp hair) and provides maximum lift if I style it that way. Easily dries and styles large sections of hair making this THE BEST hairstyling tool! Highly recommend! I use the low setting and cool blast. Surprised and very happy that I don't need med/high settings. Only caveat I have come across so far: the temp/speed setting is in an awkward place to be able to change it while using. Learning curve, I suppose. Otherwise, another GREAT styling tool from Revlon! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️" — ERJ
"This review is for all the Black women looking for a good blowdryer for their hair. I have 4C (mainly) natural hair and got tired of using the regular dryers because they made my arms tired. I have thick, long hair so blowdrying takes forever for me. This blow dryer was wonderful. I didn't even have to detangle before using it and it dried my hair very nicely. I love it so much. My only complaint is it is bigger than I expected it to be. A little bulky but I will get used to it. Overall, I am loving this hair dryer so far and am glad I made the investment." — Johniece Elbert
Get it from Amazon for $32.43+ (available in three styles and four colors).
5. A sturdy car organizer that'll make you feel a little better about all the random junk rolling around your car. Once everything is neatly organized, it will feel like it belongs there. Amazon
Keep your frozen groceries together, your drinks upright, and your car snacks within easy reach. It has straps to keep everything secure, whether it's in your trunk or your back seat.
Promising review:"I love this trunk organizer for my SUV. I can secure it with the tie-down straps provided, and they work very well. I can collapse one side of it to make it smaller if needed. Although I keep mine set up all the time, you unlatch it, fold it completely down, and store it easily if necessary. This organizer is perfect for those big shopping days with family and friends. We each have our own area to put our packages so we know what to grab when we get home. It's also perfect for groceries, so I can keep the cold things together and the bottles and drinks from tipping over or sliding around in the back. This organizer is spacious, made of quality materials, and is well-made (sewn and constructed well). It's really the perfect organizer that will provide you years' of use!" — ikc8460
Get it from Amazon for $19.51+ (available in three colors).
6. A magnetic whiteboard where you can designate a household chore schedule because doing dishes is a drag, but arguing with your roommate about them is even worse.
www.amazon.com
Promising review:"I love how customizable this chart is. It works perfectly for keeping track of family chores! At first, I was worried the rolled-up chart would take a long time to flatten out, but I just pressed it onto the surface of our fridge, and it stayed there! The markers write really cleanly and wipe right off the surface. I also love that there's a large eraser in addition to a small eraser at the end of each marker. Having magnets on everything is so handy too! Definitely recommend." — Emily Hare
Get it from Amazon for $20.99.

Promising review: "TikTok made me buy it. This is great when you have a few bags and a box — for example, if you balance the bags, you can throw it over your shoulder and walk inside and have two free hands to carry the box, which is great. Product seems well built, and is comfortable on your shoulder or hand because of the padding." — Hung

www.amazon.com
Measure your bag to make sure it's a good fit!
Promising review:"This thing is great! I have a large bag I use as a carry-on when I fly by plane. Unfortunately it has very few pockets and is just like a bottomless pit. This fit in perfectly. I was able to organize all my items quite well. They were easy to retrieve in flight and in the airport. I didn't use the zipper compartment at all, but did put that piece in to use it as a divider. It is well-made and sturdy. Be sure to measure your inner bag space first!" — Susan
Get it from Amazon for $9.47+ (available in seven sizes and 17 colors).

Amazon
It's alphabetized, so you can easily find the one you need!
Promising review:"This was exactly what I wanted. The book has a heavy plastic cover and heavy-duty wire binding. The paper is good quality, although my favorite gel pens did have some bleed-through. I'd recommend ballpoint or pencil. The entries have wide spaces, with room for website, email, username, password, and notes (which is perfect for noting the answers to those security questions... What's your favorite ice cream flavor? I don't remember what I answered a year ago!). The password section has a good number of extra lines for those sites that make you change your password with annoying frequency." — Amazon Customer
Get it from Amazon for $9.99+ (available in three sizes).
11. A handy device that keeps track of whether or not the dog has been fed. Those hungry puppy dog eyes aren't fooling anyone now, Fido!
www.amazon.com
Promising review:"Awesome product! There are four of us that were working together to feed the dogs. It simplified everything because I no longer have to text to see if anyone had fed them every morning. Now I just to see if it's green and if not, I feed them and indicate it. We all love it so much!" — Toni Deegan

Promising review:"I thought my hard water stains would never come off my shower doors, but I bought this awesome brush set, and it's amazing! I've tried all the hacks — drier sheets, clean erasers, lemon, vinegar — nothing works like this brush! I used Zep shower cleaner with it! In the picture, the side on the right is the part of the door I cleaned, and I still have to clean the left side." — Traci D.

They come in a little book like case that helps keep them clean and protected when not in use. They are easy to peel and stick and then remove again as necessary. They do not damage books or papers at all. I have had a cat for about 10 years who decides to do the number 2 about two feet outside the litter box. He has ALWAYS done this, no matter what type of litter or box. I even asked my vet about it, and his response was, "Some cats are just jerks"😂. Then I got this litter box. For the first time EVER, he does ALL of his business in the box! The ruffles at the bottom are simply *everything*. A button-up shirtdress that'll make you look extremely put together even if, in reality, you've already dropped your coffee immediately after buying it and locked yourself out of your apartment. And a smocked midi dress that looks very similar to the iconic (albeit pricier) Hill House Nap Dress. It was clearly designed with frolicking in flower-filled fields in mind — just imagine it fanning out around you while you skip and twirl through some picturesque tulips. 🌷

The best movie of 2025 (so far) you missed in theaters just arrived on streaming — and it's a hilariously heartfelt watch

I have a well-documented love of all things dark, from twisting crime thrillers to brutal horrors. My favorite movies of the year list usually ends up stuffed with flicks that can be considered pretty bleak in tone. But, I do have a slightly sappy side as well, and my love for 'The Ballad of Wallis Island' proves it. I caught this British comedy-drama in theatres last weekend, and while my expectations were relatively low ahead of watching, after 100 joyful minutes I walked out of my screening with a broad smile on my face, convinced I'd just seen a frontrunner pick for the most overlooked movie of 2025 (so far). 'The Ballad of Wallis Island' received only a limited theatrical release in the U.S. back in March, which means an awful lot of people didn't get to see it on the big screen. That's a real shame. But fortunately, life is all about second chances (a theme of the movie itself), and now this heartfelt movie is available to stream on Peacock or via PVOD on platforms like Amazon and Apple. If you were one of the many who didn't get to catch 'The Ballad of Wallis Island' in cinemas earlier this year, I strongly implore you to seek it out on streaming, because it's something very special. Here's why I love it so much. Charles Heath (Tim Key) is a reclusive lottery winner, living on the eponymous Wallis Island off the coast of Wales. He's also the world's biggest superfan of folk music duo McGwyer Mortimer. Unfortunately, the band, made up of Herby McGwyer (Tom Basden) and Nell Mortimer (Carey Mulligan), who were previously romantically involved, broke up 10 years ago, and haven't played a show together live since. Using his lottery winnings, Charles convinces them to both come to the island, reunite, and play a very intimate concert for an audience of one. Once on the island, old tensions flare up, and McGwyer and Mortimer find themselves grappling with their past and their present. They also have to tolerate Charles' fawning fandom and personality quirks. Eventually, the increasing tensions between the pair put the dream gig under threat. 'The Ballad of Wallis Island' wormed its way into my affections almost immediately. That's thanks in large part to the comedic brilliance of Tim Key. The flick opens with McGwyer arriving on the island in a small boat with a giddy Charles welcoming his hero, and this brilliant scene sets the tone. From the off, one thing becomes immediately apparent: Charles just cannot shut up. He is a persistent babbler and fills every silence with a running stream of nonsense. Loads of his lines had the entire audience in my local theatres laughing out loud, but as the movie progresses, we slowly peel back the layers and learn there's more to Charles than just his extreme levels of fandom. Charles very quickly became my favorite character of the movie, partially because he's just hilariously funny, with Key's sense of comedic timing second to none. But also because when it becomes clear exactly why he loves McGwyer Mortimer's music so much, I almost shed a tear (almost, I swear). The folk music duo themselves have more than a little bit of Fleetwood Mac about them. And when they are reunited on Wallis Island for the first time in a decade, there's a heavy distance between them. But this slowly erodes as they get back into the swing of playing music together and fondly reminisce on the past. However, the fact that Mortimer now has an American husband (Akemnji Ndifornyen) only adds to the underlying tension. I'm not a folk music fan per se (Taylor Swift's Folkmore duology is about as far into the genre as my Spotify playlists dip), but the musical element fits the tone perfectly. The original McGwyer Mortimer tunes are a surprise highlight and are performed by Basden and Mulligan. There's a lot more to 'The Ballad of Wallis Island' than just cringetastic humor from Charles' foibles and inability to stop talking for even a moment; there's a real melancholic nature about the movie. This element shines through most brightly via McGwyer, a cynical character, whose solo career is stalling, forcing him to create 'commercial' music he has no passion for. His time on Wallis Island and the chance to reconnect with his old partner begin to change his outlook and his sweetheart slowly starts to shine through. This arc, while hardly original, really works wonders. I also have to give kudos to 'The Ballad of Wallis Island' for not playing out exactly as I expected. In the first act, I rather arrogantly, perhaps, assumed I had the whole movie mapped out beat-for-beat, but instead, it takes a more unexpected (and very welcome) route. There's no shocking twist or anything of that nature, but the ending is a little more wistful than I anticipated. 'The Ballad of Wallis Island' is a tender comedy-drama, filled with likeable characters (even if they take a little while to warm up), beautifully understated music and a heartfelt story. Basden, Mulligan and especially Key are all fantastic, and by the end, you'll be wishing that you could take a trip to the remote (fictional) Wallis Island to nourish your soul and meet Charles. You don't need to just take my word for it that 'The Ballade of Wallis Island' is worth streaming. The movie currently holds a near-perfect 98% score on Rotten Tomatoes. This rating comes from more than 100 reviews and has earned the movie a Certified Fresh seal. 'The Ballad of Wallis Island hums along a sweet melody without lapsing into outright sentimentality, mining a great deal of warmth from its humble premise,' reads the site's 'Critics Consensus,' and viewers agree, rating it an equally impressive 93%. These scores speak to the movie's quality and how effectively it charms you. It's such a special little movie, and I'm hoping its arrival on streaming opens it up to a richly deserved wider audience. I can't wait to rewatch it on Peacock, and it's now entered my rotation of comfort movies I turn to on rainy days. If somehow all this praise hasn't convinced you to give 'The Ballad of Wallis Island' a watch (do you have a heart made of stone?), check out my full roundup of the top new movies arriving across streaming services. But if you want to save some time, just go watch this one now, it's a comfort blanket of a movie that will have you reflecting on your life and lost loves.
