Sarah Healy storms to stunning Diamond League win in Rome
IRELAND'S SARAH HEALY has won the Women's 1500m at this evening's Diamond League meet in Rome.
The in-form Dubliner clocked 3:59.17 to secure a famous win at the Stadio Olimpico.

Healy, 24, timed her run to perfection, finishing strongly to claim her first-ever Diamond League victory.
Having opened her outdoor season with a 3000m PB in Rabat
two weeks ago, the UCD AC star dug incredibly deep in a thrilling close to the race.
Australian duo Sarah Billings (3:59.24) and Abbey Caldwell (3:59.32) both clocked personal bests as they settled for second and third respectively.
'I'm obviously really happy to come away with the win,'
Healy told Diamond League channels afterwards.
'It was a really competitive field. I kind of thought it wouldn't be crazy quick tonight, and it wasn't. It was quite crowded, I think we're all capable of running around the same time so there were a lot of bodies. I was a little further back, I wanted to be the whole time. I just tried to stay patient.

'In the last lap, I had to make a good few moves, which I'm happy with, especially on the home straight.'

'I know my shape is good,' she continued. 'I ran a big 3k PB three weeks ago, so I know I'm really fit. Hopefully a PB in the 1500m [currently 3:57.46] is coming for me soon, but today I wanted to just compete for the win.
'I know I'm good at hard, fast races, but races like this have probably been more where I struggled, so I'm really, really happy to win tonight. It's really cool.'
Healy said she hopes to compete in the 1500m at World Athletics Championships in Tokyo in September, and she is really enjoying racing at the minute.
'I'm having a lot of fun, which is the main thing, and probably why I'm running so well,' Healy added, while confirming her attendance at the Paris Diamond League on Friday, 20 June.
Elsewhere at the meet, Cathal Doyle knocked over a second off his 1500m personal best and secured his first automatic qualifier for a World Championship.
The Dubliner ran 3:32.15 as he finished 14th, clocking the second fastest 1500m ever by an Irishman, behind only national record holder Andrew Coscoran (3:30.42).

Son Heung-min hailed Ange Postecoglou as a "Tottenham Hotspur legend" as the club's supporters' trust expressed "concern" with another change in manager. Thank you, mate." The Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust thanked Postecoglou for an "amazing night" in Bilbao but acknowledged league results were a "long way short" of expectation. "Our concern now is that it appears we will have yet another change of direction and that this is something that is becoming a habit since we said goodbye to Mauricio Pochettino in 2019," the statement read. "We can only hope that the right decision has been made and that the new manager is fully supported by the board and everyone at the club to build on the cup success that Ange has lain. "He will need the finances to build a strong squad that can challenge simultaneously on many fronts. We wish whoever is appointed well. With 15 countries participating, favourable weather bar a shower or two made for a hectic atmosphere in the picturesque Green Glens Complex and Drishane Estate. Some of the best horses and riders in eventing circles descended on the North Cork location by ferry and truck with visitors drawn from the UK, USA, Australia, New Zealand, Asia and across Europe. The picturesque setting against the backdrop of Clara Mountain and Drishane Castle was a perfect amphitheatre for cross country with dressage and show jumping hosted in the adjoining Green Glens Complex. 'We are overwhelmed and delighted that so many international riders are coming to Millstreet, it was the largest entry since the event commenced in 2015, the arrival of so many leading figures in the international eventing world is a major highlight in the Irish calendar and we have been working hard to ensure some great competitions and a fun weekend,' said Event Director Thomas Duggan. Upwards of 400 horses were in Millstreet, riders included double Olympic gold medalist from Tokyo and Paris Laura Collett, the Great Britain rider is a MBE recipient for her pursuits on the world stage. Collett was joined by compatriots Emily King, Izzy Taylor, Max Warburton, Jack Pinkney, Harry Horo and Gemma Stevens. Stevens figured prominently in a number of categories and savoured the Millstreet atmosphere. 'What a weekend in Millstreet, to enjoy success here is something quite special at a great venue. For me, it's also such a relief to win on the Irish bred Flash Cooley because I've been second in a CCI4*-L class four times', she said. Australian Kevin McNab, a silver medalist at the Tokyo Olympics is a popular visitor to Millstreet, amongst his strong line up was Newmarket Amy, bred by the Scarteen Equine Farm in Newmarket and sold to Co. Meath based Rhiannon Burton with McNab becoming the regular pilot. En route to Millstreet, the pair enjoyed success at the Strzegom Show in Poland, a podium place also in Millstreet. Four time Olympian Austin O'Connor was back in familiar territory, the Mallow native and UK-based rider delivered one of his finest performances to date at the prestigious Badminton Horse Trials recently, finishing third overall aboard his long-time partner Colorado Blue. The Drishane Cross Country course saw new developments, the terrain bedded in well over recent months, new fences and a reshaped water development adding to the appeal against the backdrop of Clara Mountain with Event Director Thomas Duggan accepting the plaudits. 'We are thrilled that so many international competitors want to come here to educate their horses and enjoy the superb courses and footing here. 'It has been such a successful showcase for the Irish Sport Horse,' he said. Equestrian excitement returns to Millstreet next month for the Pony and Young Rider Show from July 3-6 with the Millstreet International CSI2* Horse Show scheduled from July 23-27.

Boxer on Taylor-Serrano undercard forced to withdraw after pregnancy news
A boxer due to fight for a world title on the undercard of Katie Taylor's trilogy fight with Amanda Serrano has been forced to withdraw after discovering she is pregnant. Dina Thorslund, who is expecting her second child, has had to pull out of her bantamweight unification clash with Shurretta Metcalf on 11 July at Madison Square Garden in New York. Australian Cherneka Johnson has stepped up to replace Thorslund and fight for the Dane's vacated WBO title, Metcalf's IBF title and her own WBA belt. Thorslund, 31, said: 'Life can be such a roller coaster, especially as a female boxer. "I was really looking forward to this fightโthe biggest moment of my career. 'Recently, I found out I was pregnant, a curve I hadn't expected, but a joyous one. "Even though the decision was easy, the athlete in me is sad, as I so wanted to stand in that ring and make history on Friday, July 11. "But I'll be back! The fire that MVP has lit in me only burns even stronger, and when I do step back in the ring, there will be another little person that I can fight for and be a role model for. "I plan to show my child that nothing is impossible if you work hard enough for it." Thorslund, who is unbeaten in 23 fights, added: "Thank you to MVP, my sponsors, friends, family - your support and encouragement touches me deeply and only motivates me more. "I hope all the boxers have a fantastic evening. "I will be cheering from the sidelines, and I can only encourage the rest of the world to either take the trip to Madison Square Garden and experience the magic, or to tune in to watch history being made, live on Netflix.' The eagerly-awaited trilogy between Taylor and Serrano will headline the fight night. Taylor has beaten Serrano on two occasions, the first by split decision at the MSG in April 2022, and the second by unanimous decision at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington last November. Once again, Taylor will put all her super lightweight titles on the line as the pair face off again in New York.
