The Nintendo Switch 2 launches globally on Thursday, June 5, and the first unboxing videos for the new device are starting to drop.
But first, just a quick reminder about what we're looking at here. The Switch 2, in case the hype has somehow passed you by, is the highly anticipated successor to the original Switch, which came out in 2017.

Nintendo's updated handheld comes with a larger display, improved build quality, and new magnetic Joy-Con controllers for easier attachment and detachment. Under the hood, the Switch 2 brings enhanced performance thanks to a new NVIDIA chipset, offering better graphics and faster load times.
Nintendo's long-awaited successor to the Switch costs $450, while a bundle comprising the Switch 2 and Mario Kart World is priced at $500.

'A nice big 7.9-inch screen, thin bezels, pretty sleek, there you go,' Brownlee says as he carefully extracts the brand new device from its wrapping. The popular tech YouTuber was particularly taken by the satisfying click of the magnetic Joy-Cons as they attached to the display.
Alex from Nintendo Life appears shocked by the small size of the Switch 2 box, insisting that the original Switch came in a much bigger one. After getting over that, he opens the lid and is taken aback by the 'weird' placement of the Joy-Cons, which have been inserted at a slight angle. Handling the Joy-Cons, Alex comments, 'So smooth, the sticks are so smooth.' Yes, he really likes the Joy-Cons.
Trevor of YouTube channel TmarTn2 plays things a little differently, kicking off not with the main console but with the Switch 2 Camera, which plugs into the handheld so you can enjoy video chats with friends and family. The camera also enables motion tracking for compatible games. He then moves onto the Switch 2 Pro Controller, commenting enthusiastically, 'Ooh, this has a really nice matte feel to it.' However, it now sounds like Apple is working on a great feature we'd love to see on Wear OS watches. 9to5Mac reports that watchOS 26 will offer third-party widgets in the Control Center. The outlet adds that this would let users 'surface relevant actions or data' from said apps. That would be major news as the Control Center on Apple Watches only supports first-party toggles like cellular functionality, the flashlight, Wi-Fi, and battery-related info. We really hope Google copies this feature and brings it to Wear OS smartwatches in the future. Android phones have long supported third-party tiles in Quick Settings, allowing users to quickly toggle their VPN service, activate Link to Windows, identify songs, and more. So bringing this feature to smartwatches seems like a logical expansion. It's likely too late for this feature to come to Wear OS 6, but the upcoming update still has some notable improvements. ‘Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles' Looks Amazing
Final Fantasy Tactics is one of the best tactical role-playing games ever made, and it is finally getting remastered. Called The Ivalice Chronicles, it will include an enhanced and classic version of the game. The enhanced iteration will include new voiced dialogue, improved user interface, graphical updates, and a new and easier 'Squire' difficulty setting. The latter is actually a sensible addition for modern players, as the original Final Fantasy Tactics was an exacting game. This should come as no surprise, as it was directed by Yasumi Matsuno, who is a somewhat curious figure in gaming. Having worked on previous tactical role-playing games such as Ogre Battle and Tactics Ogre, Final Fantasy Tactics was as meticulous in many ways. While many hadn't played these kinds of tactical role-playing games outside of Japan before, for them, Final Fantasy Tactics was something very new and different. The tactical element, with characters moved around on a virtual board, was a visual and functional departure from the classic Final Fantasy games, and imbued a new kind of strategy. For many, Final Fantasy Tactics is regarded as the definitive tactical role-playing game. Although I would beg to differ, as the Super Robot Wars games, I think, are more involved, and also predate the likes of the first Ogre Battle as well as Final Fantasy Tactics. That aside, this new remaster of Final Fantasy Tactics is most certainly welcomed. Regardless of my personal tactical role-playing game preferences, it is still an excellent game. You should also check out Tactics Ogre: Reborn if you fancy a challenge before this remaster is released.
