Flog It! antiques expert Michael Baggott's silver set to be sold
A collection of York silver belonging to late Flog It! antiques expert Michael Baggott could be the "most comprehensive" set to be sold publicly, an auctioneer has said.Baggott, who worked on the BBC series, died earlier this year aged 51, after a heart attack. His antiques collection, expected to sell for more than £200,000, includes an extensive selection of silver assessed by metal testers in York."It includes over 550 pieces from the late 17th Century to the closure of the [York] assay office in 1858," Rupert Slingsby, silver specialist at Woolley and Wallis auctioneers, said.
"The Baggott collection is probably the most comprehensive collection of silver assayed in York ever to come on to the open market," Mr Slingsby said.It also includes items assessed in assay offices in Liverpool, Chester Dundee, Newcastle, Bristol, Exeter and Aberdeen.
According to the auction house, highlights of the collection include a rare George II provincial mug, a Victorian novelty Jester pepper pot and a George IV gilt sideboard dish.Baggott was born in Birmingham and his interest in antiques began at an early age.He worked at Christie's auction house and was head of silver at Sotheby's Billingshurst, before becoming a private consultant, known as an authority on silver. He joined BBC daytime show Flog It! in the early 2000s, and valued various silver objects. The programme showed members of the public having their antique items appraised by experts before being given the option to sell them at auction, but it was axed amidst BBC One daytime schedule changes in 2018.Earlier this year, the head of BBC daytime and early peak commissioning, Rob Unsworth, described Baggott as one of the show's "most memorable characters".He was an "expert in all manner of collectables but in particular with unrivalled knowledge and enthusiasm for antique spoons and silver", Mr Unsworth added.

Samie Elishi enjoys a night out with Sam Thompson and his Staying Relevant team after the truth about their whirlwind romance was revealed
Samie Elishi made a surprise appearance at Sam Thompson 's night out on Saturday, as their whirlwind romance continues to go from strength to strength. The Love Island star, 25, has been dating the podcast presenter, 32, since last month, when the pair were pictured sharing a kiss at Olivia Attwood 's birthday bash. And as Sam enjoyed a night out with the team on his podcast Staying Relevant, Samie took to Instagram Stories to share a brief clip from the outing. The reality TV beauty shared a video of herself dancing alongside the podcast's executive producer Pippa Morgan, who regularly features on the show, which is hosted by Sam and his longtime pal Pete Wicks. Sam is back home preparing for both Soccer Aid and his latest challenge which will see the star travel a mammoth 260-mile journey on both bike and foot to deliver the Soccer Aid matchball to its new home in Old Trafford. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. Ahead of the epic feat, which begins on Monday, Pete took to Instagram to share a sweet tribute to his pal. Posting a snap with Sam, he captioned the post: 'Tomorrow this man embarks on a mental and physical challenge for an amazing cause @unicef. 'Mate I couldn't be prouder of you as a friend, a brother and as a man. You are gonna push yourself to the limit and I can't wait to watch you complete this f**king mammoth task. 'I know how much work you've put in and I know you're doing it for the right reasons. Just so you know, you're doing it with every single one of your friends and family right behind you. 'I hope the nation follows your journey and helps you along the way in donations and support. 'You are an inspiration to me and many others and I admire the man you've become this year more than any other year I've known you. Good luck brother, you've got this @samthompsonuk.' Earlier this week, Samie's distance from Sam while she attended a brand trip to Mykonos had briefly sparked rumours they'd split, but a source has since hit back at the claims. A source close to the couple told MailOnline: 'Any suggestion that Sam and Samie have split up is untrue. The Love Island star has been dating the podcast presenter since last month, when the pair were pictured sharing a kiss at Olivia Attwood 's birthday bash 'They're loving spending time together and always make the most of off days between their busy schedules.' Elsewhere Sam's ex Zara McDermott has been packing on the PDA with her new boyfriend Louis Tomlinson during a romantic holiday to Costa Rica. The pair were spotted kissing at the modest Banana Beach Restaurant which overlooks the ocean. Sam first met Samie, who appeared on Love Island in 2023 and returned to the All Stars series this year, through his presenting role on spinoff, Aftersun. Samie previously broke her silence on her new romance with Sam, after the couple attended the swanky celebration held at Bacchanalia in London's Mayfair where they confirmed the romance by packing on the PDA outside the venue. Samie spoke about the blossoming relationship for the first time during an appearance on the Chloe Mediumship podcast. The show is hosted by a psychic medium and in the episode, Samie revealed how she's previously had negative gut feelings in past relationships. She explained: 'I've had gut feelings with guys before. I've had a couple of relationships where I've known it was never it. Like this is gonna come to an end, I'll have something telling me every day it's coming to an end, this isn't for you. 'You put it to the back of your mind and then you start noticing the chaos increase. It's like the universe saying I'm gonna blow you both up if you just do not separate. Then I'm like if I only I listened all those months ago when I got that first message.' Then, host Chloe asked: 'Obviously, you don't have to talk about it too much but the guy you're currently speaking to, do you have that gut feeling? Like do you think it's gonna be really good?' Keeping her cards close to her chest, the former Love Islander replied: 'There's been no bad stuff at the minute so yeah I suppose it is all positive right now. It's early days.' Sam and his ex-girlfriend Zara split in January, with Zara quickly moving on with One Direction star Louis Tomlinson. On his Staying Relevant podcast with Pete Wicks, Sam also revealed he's gone on his first date since his split from Zara, after he reportedly spent a romantic Easter weekend with Samie. Earlier this week, Samie's distance from Sam while she attended a brand trip to Mykonos had briefly sparked rumours they'd split, but a source has since hit back at the claims Hinting towards his heartbreak over Zara, he said he'd gone through a 'pretty tough time', but that he was finally 'comfortable in my own skin again'. He told Pete: 'I feel like I'm ready to get out there. I feel like I'm at a stage now where I feel confident enough that I can start approaching females. 'I feel good, things are really really nice at the moment. And I feel like I'm happy. There's no more brave faces', causing Pete to proudly declare: 'Sam's ready to date!' Next week Sam will begin a 260-mile challenge in aid of Soccer Aid for UNICEF, transporting a football by running and cycling from Stamford Bridge in west London to Manchester's Old Trafford stadium in time for the Soccer Aid match on June 15. The challenge, which will be followed by the ITV documentary Sam Thompson's Match Ball Mission, is a savvy commission from the broadcaster. Because Sam will be taking part in the star-studded match at Old Trafford alongside none other than Zara's new beau, Louis. The football match is already the talk of ITV corridors, with all eyes sure to be on the two love rivals as they go head to head on the pitch.

Kim Wilde's not-so-wild life at 64: Kids In America hitmaker adopts healthy diet, is a trained horticulturist and enjoys cold water plunges in far cry from her naked rock star days
She used to tour around the world with Michael Jackson and David Bowie, consumed by a life of hedonism - but Kim Wilde 's life at 64 years old is... not so wild. In a far cry from her naked rock star days, the Kids In America hitmaker has traded the booze and parties for a life of gardening, healthy eating and cold plunges. Speaking to The Sunday Times, Kim spoke about how her life has changed in the years since she was a travelling rock star. Kim trained as a horticulturist at Capel Manor College in Enfield years ago to learn how to make a garden for her children - and was later invited as a celebrity by Channel 4 to act as a designer for their programme Better Gardens. 'After winter I'm desperate for light, so I'll often be found wandering in my garden before 7am — I don't want to miss anything coming back to life,' she said. And recently she's developed a passion for cold plunges, which she takes in her own pool in her specially cultivated garden. Another way Kim's life has changed is her diet, gone are the days of fast food and booze - with the star sober for a decade and adopting a 'healthier' approach to eating. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the Daily Mail's showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. She has welcomed in a breakfast of scrambled eggs and spinach with a side of nuts and fruit. And lunch consists of things like hummus, fresh fruit, vegetables and cheese. 'Occasionally M&S sourdough,' she adds. Speaking about her cold plunging, Kim said: 'People say I look good for my age — it's all smoke and mirrors but I do jump in the cold pool in my garden every day with my mate Sue.' It's in stark contrast to her touring days of the eighties and nineties, with the 'post-show hedonism' a thing of the past. However she did regale one of her wildest stories from touring, as she said: 'I once ended up naked in a hotel corridor after a big knees-up: I snuck out of my room in the night and the door shut behind me. 'I had to slink down to the lobby to ask for a spare key, which was mortifying.' Kim's career has been a whirlwind journey through music, TV, and gardening, marked by reinvention and enduring popularity. Her international anthem and debut single, Kids In America was the work of her brother Ricky and dad, original British rock 'n' roller Marty Wilde. It became a defining anthem of the '80s and at one stage she was shifting 60,000 copies a day. She had seven more Top Ten singles in the UK but never a number one, however her reworking of the Motown classic You Keep Me Hangin' On, which topped the US Billboard chart in 1986. During this time she released her self-titled debut album, Kim Wilde, which included hits like Chequered Love and established her as a new pop sensation. She went on to release an array of albums which saw even more success after she released Another Step, which included the global hit You Keep Me Hangin' On - a cover of The Supremes' classic that topped the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. In 1987 Michael Jackson invited Kim to join him on his Bad tour and open 33 shows across Europe and the UK. She observed a superstar alone in his own universe. Two years after the tour, her own world came crashing down the day after her 30th birthday, when it dawned that her time as a pop phenomenon might be over. After a few years of focusing on her personal life, Kim transitioned to television, becoming a popular presenter and personality in the UK. And in 2000, she discovered a passion for gardening and authored several books. She also became a regular presenter on gardening shows, bringing her knowledge and enthusiasm to a new audience and connecting with her old die-hard fans in a new way. In 2006, she made a successful return to music with the album Never Say Never, which featured reworked versions of her classic hits and new material. This marked a resurgence in her musical career. And in 2021 she released Pop Don't Stop: Greatest Hits, a comprehensive collection of her biggest hits, celebrating her four decades in the music industry. Throughout her career, Kim has remained a beloved figure in pop culture, known for her distinctive voice, style, and ability to adapt to new trends while maintaining her unique identity. In 2022 she revealed she split from and subsequently divorced her husband Hal Fowler in 2021. The singer married writer and actor Hal, 56, in 1996 after the former couple met while appearing in rock opera Tommy. They married within six months of meeting each other and had two children, Harry, now 24, and Rose, now 22, together. A joint statement posted to Kim's Twitter page read: 'Kim Wilde and Hal Fowler wish to announce that they amicably separated by agreement last year and have divorced. 'No third party is involved. They remain on good terms and wish only the best for each other in the next phases of their lives. No further comment or statements will be made.'
