Ensuring robust, sustainable, reliable infra govt's priority, says Haryana CM
Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini inaugurated the Standard Operating Methods and Procedures (SOMPs) developed by the Quality Assurance Authority on Friday, marking a significant step towards ensuring robust and reliable infrastructure across the state. The event, held at the PWD Rest House in Sector-1, Panchkula, showcased the state's commitment to quality-driven development.
Saini emphasised that the SOMPs represent more than just a document; they embody a vision for building a foundation of quality, sustainable infrastructure, and good governance. He highlighted the Quality Assurance Authority as India's first state-level institution dedicated solely to infrastructure quality, with its model drawing attention from other states and central institutions. 'We hope this model will soon evolve into a national network for quality assurance,' he stated.
Saini underscored the importance of quality construction, noting that poorly executed projects are detrimental. The SOMPs are designed to set quality standards for government departments, engineers, contractors, and policymakers, ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency. He drew parallels with the impact of SOPs in aviation and healthcare and highlighted the significance of quality standards like 'Six Sigma' in the global construction industry.
The Quality Assurance Authority, established to guarantee quality construction across all departments, covers key sectors like roads, bridges, buildings, irrigation, water, sewage, and energy. Saini announced plans to extend the Authority's scope to include private infrastructure projects linked to government licensing, including public-private partnerships, private buildings, townships, and industrial parks, aiming to increase public confidence and investor trust.
Development and panchayat minister Krishan Lal Panwar and public works minister Ranbir Gangwa echoed the importance of quality in development projects, highlighting the financial and public impact of compromised standards. Chairman of the Quality Assurance Authority, Rajeev Arora, provided a presentation on the Authority's comprehensive structural framework and holistic approach.

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini lashed out at the AAP government in Punjab on Saturday, alleging that it has not done any meaningful work for the welfare of people. Saini further claimed that the Bhagwant Mann government in Punjab "no longer enjoys any public support" and said in the June 19 Ludhiana West Assembly bypoll , people will decide in the right direction. Saini visited Sangrur on Saturday to condole the death of veteran Akali leader and former Union minister Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa . He met Dhindsa's son and former Punjab finance minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa and expressed his grief. Talking to reporters in Sangrur, the Haryana chief minister alleged that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab was formed on a "foundation of lies". "This government has neither done any meaningful work for the welfare of people nor does it have the will to work. Now, the people of Punjab have understood this truth," he claimed. Live Events The Mann government has "completely failed" to fulfil the promises it had made to people during elections, Saini said. He said the AAP has been exposed in Delhi, because "lies do not last long". "It no longer has any public support in Punjab and in the Ludhiana West bypoll, people will decide in the right direction," he said. Saini launched an attack on Punjab Chief Minister Mann, saying he should work for the welfare of people rather than indulging in "theatrics". Referring to the Ludhiana West bypoll, he said the voters have made up their mind that Punjab should also move ahead at a fast pace under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership. The bypoll to the Ludhiana West Assembly seat in Punjab is scheduled to be held on June 19 and the counting of the votes will be taken up on June 23. The Ludhiana West seat fell vacant following AAP MLA Gurpreet Bassi Gogi's death in January. Saini accused the AAP government of not implementing the Centre's welfare schemes in Punjab and depriving people of their benefits. Talking about the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Haryana, Saini said for the last 11 years, public welfare schemes are being implemented effectively under the leadership of Modi. He said the Haryana government is purchasing all crops from farmers at the Minimum Support Price (MSP). Similarly, the Punjab government should also worry about the farmers of the state and give them a fair price for their crops, he said. Saini said in the event of crop loss due to natural calamities, the Haryana government has provided a total compensation amount of more than Rs 15,500 crore to farmers in the last 10 years. Besides, vegetable-growing farmers are being given relief under the "Bhavantar Bharpai Yojana", he added. The people of Haryana are also getting the benefits of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana , while the people of Punjab are being deprived of those, he said.

Deprived Scheduled Castes community receiving rightful share, respect under BJP govt: Haryana CM
Chandigarh, June 7 (UNI) Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, addressing a delegation of the Deprived Scheduled Castes (DSC) community from across the state, today said the community is now receiving its rightful share and respect under the BJP government. He said that in the recent announcement of approximately 3,500 government recruitments, 605 posts have been reserved for the DSC community and 604 posts for other Scheduled Castes. This is a strong step toward social justice, he added. Saini also acknowledged the long struggle of the DSC community and stated that their efforts are now yielding positive results. Future generations will be empowered and strong, he said, while addressing a delegation of the DSC community at his residence, Sant Kabir Kutir. On the occasion, members of the DSC community honored the Chief Minister with a turban and expressed gratitude for implementing categorisation within reservations for the DSC community. They also invited the Chief Minister to attend the Sant Kabir Jayanti celebration to be held in Sirsa on June 11. The Chief Minister, calling the members of the community "warriors", said the turban placed on his head is not just his honor but the honor of the entire community. In other remarks, the CM said the real strength of this country lies in its poor, labourers, and marginalised communities. These are the very people who, through their hard work, are making the biggest contribution to transforming India into a developed nation. Over the past 11 years, Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has given these hardworking sections of society the respect and rights that Congress could never provide. Haryana: Monetary incentive for Mewat students scoring 90% in classes 10, 12
The general as well as other category students scoring above 90 % marks in Classes 10 and 12 will receive an incentive of ₹51,000 each and the students of Scheduled Caste category will be given ₹1,11,000 incentive under Mukhyamantri Mewat Chhatar Pratibha Samman Yojana, Haryana chief minister Nayab Singh Saini announced on Friday, in what is a move to improve educational standards in the Mewat region. Presiding over the meeting of the Mewat Development Board at Zila Parishad Conference Hall in Nuh on Friday, chief minister Saini further stated that comprehensive and strategic measures will be implemented to ensure a better educational environment for all students. He said the youth of Mewat region who will take admission in professional, technical, tourism, paramedical and PhD courses will be given the benefit of ₹75,000 per year or 75 percent of the tuition fee, whichever is less, by the Mewat Development Board. Similarly, ₹1.25 lakh per year or the actual tuition fee, whichever is less, will be given for MBBS. Also, if the tuition fee of the government institute is less than ₹1.25 lakh, then 100 % tuition fee will be given. He said under this, 17% reservation has been kept for the candidates of Hathin area coming under Mewat Development Board and 50% scholarship will be provided to all female candidates. To prevent drop out of students, scholarships will be provided to the students taking admission in Class 11 and 12 class under the chief minister Mewat Post Matric Scholarship Scheme. Also, assistance will be given for the preparation of competitive exams under the 'Mukhyamantri Mewat Utthan Yojana'. The chief minister said that Mewat is steadily advancing on the path of progress. Significant improvements have been made in infrastructure, health, education, nutrition, agriculture, water resources, financial inclusion, and skill development, all of which are contributing to the district's holistic growth. He said that a museum in honour of Shaheed Hasan Khan Mewati will be established in Mewat. The meeting also approved the construction of a sports complex at the Nuh district headquarters at an estimated cost of ₹13.50 crore. Additionally, approval was granted for the construction of an auditorium in Nuh, the establishment of a Hunar Haat in the Tauru block to support women volunteers from self-help group.
