DeVito takes helm at Marion County Chamber of Commerce
FAIRMONT — It's Dani DeVito's first week as Marion County Chamber of Commerce President and so far she's keeping busy.
'We've got several big things up in the air,' DeVito said. 'We've got Young Leaders, which their application process just closed. Same thing with Leadership Marion. So we'll be announcing the new classes for both of those groups here in the coming month or so. We've got the annual dinner coming up in August and golf tournament in September. We've already started on Frank-n-Stein number two.'
The Marion County Chamber of Commerce announced DeVito as its new president in early May. At the time, outgoing Chamber President Pat Snively said she's been actively involved in the community for a number of years, citing her membership on a number of community boards as well as her contributions to other areas of the community. DeVito said becoming Chamber President opened up an opportunity to make Fairmont's community wellbeing her primary focus, rather than simply tending to it in her spare time.
Prior to becoming Chamber President, DeVito worked for ShalePro Energy Services as director of permitting and marketing, where she handled well site permitting for one of the company's clients, but also handled the company's social media, website and marketing materials. Her background is in broadcast journalism, as she previously worked as an on-air reporter, anchor and fill-in weather person.
Her background in communications informs what her approach will be in carrying out her job as chamber president.
'My biggest thing right now is focusing on two-way communication,' she said. 'Especially making sure our membership can reach out to us and feels comfortable reaching out to us anytime, as well as us reaching out to them.'
DeVito said her background in communication has taught her that keeping clear and open communication is a great way to keep problems from popping up. If members and the Chamber have a good connection with each other, then the Chamber will know its members need support or when members deserve to be celebrated by the Chamber. She said communication is a huge part of success in any community.
Chad Nuzum, chair of the Chamber's board of directors, said in May he was excited to bring her on board.
'From the moment Dani walked into the room, her passion for Marion County and her vision for the Chamber were evident,' he said in a press release. 'She brings the right mix of energy, experience and leadership, and we are thrilled to welcome her as our next President.'
Main Street Fairmont Executive Director Alex Petry has known DeVito for a long time. He congratulated her for reaching the position, and said he was extremely excited to work alongside her. The Chamber of Commerce President holds a seat on the board of Main Street Fairmont, he said.
'She will be involved in just about everything we would do,' he said. 'Over the last year, the Chamber and Main Street's partnership became even stronger with the Frank-n-Stein craft beer and hot dog festival. I'm very excited to work together with her directly on that as we enjoy our second year of the festival.'
Petry said DeVito is a good fit for the Chamber because she is both extremely personable and has high energy. As a born and raised product of Fairmont, she has a lot of passion for the city. Petry said the partnership between the Chamber and Main Street is important because all of these agencies are on the same team and working toward the same goal — making Fairmont a better place to be.
'I think one of the reasons we are seeing a lot of success in our community is because people in those positions have such a love for the community that they're working for,' Petry said. 'And I think she has that, 100%.'

Greater Stouffville Chamber Dinner Unites Business and Civic Leaders
● Thursday's 2025 Greater Stouffville Chamber Annual Dinner brought together business and civic leaders for a night of celebration and reflection. ● Chamber Executive Director Christian Buhagiar urged unity amid global volatility, highlighting the Chamber's growing successes and regional influence. ● Mayor Iain Lovatt's keynote speech spotlighted recent achievements, including Mosaic House, the Memorial Park Multi-Purpose Trail, and progress on Downtown revitalization. ● Lovatt emphasized the Town's commitment to attracting new businesses, with 1.8 million square feet of employment development currently in the Town's pipeline. ● Francis and Meyer Co. founders Amanda and Danielle Black were awarded a $50,000 grant as winners of the Stouffville Village Small Business Challenge. ● Mike Feld of Most Excellent Productions received the 2025 Business Excellence Community Award. The Greater Stouffville Chamber's 2025 Annual Dinner brought together local leaders, entrepreneurs, and officials Thursday evening at Station Creek Golf Club for a night of networking, celebration, and forward-looking insights. In his opening remarks, Chamber Executive Director Christian Buhagiar emphasized the organization's growing influence and essential role in the region's business ecosystem. 'Our Chamber continues to grow and expand, ensuring our relevance and our impact,' he said, encouraging attendees to remain active partners as the Chamber advances its work. Buhagiar underscored the need for unity amid global volatility, pointing to inflation, tariffs, and shifting political landscapes as reasons why a strong collective voice is vital. 'Together we create an engaged business community from which we can gather strength, learn, and conduct business,' he told attendees. Prior to the evening's keynote address from Stouffville Mayor Iain Lovatt, the 2025 Business Excellence Community Award was presented to Mike Feld of Most Excellent Productions for more than a decade of outstanding service in live event production throughout Stouffville. Lovatt delivered a wide-ranging speech highlighting key Town achievements and future priorities. He opened by praising and thanking the municipality's Senior Staff, calling it 'the strongest senior leadership team in the Town's history.' Among the accomplishments of the past year, Lovatt pointed to the opening of Mosaic House . The Housing York project introduced 97 new units to the Region's housing stock, providing stable homes for dozens of families. 'Sadly, 97 is a mere drop in the bucket compared to the 18,000 families still on the list,' Lovatt said. He reaffirmed Housing York's push for a one-third funding model among all levels of government to help move more projects forward. Another milestone was the Memorial Park Multi-Purpose Trail, now a popular all-season amenity. The trail opened last summer for walkers and wheeled users and debuted for ice skating just in time for the holiday season. Partnerships and placemaking also featured prominently in the Mayor's address. He spoke to the Town's five-year memorandum of understanding with York University, as well as the installation of new murals downtown and along the Sculpture Walk. These public art installations are part of an ongoing effort to animate the Downtown's shared spaces. Lovatt celebrated the arrival of more than 20 new businesses in town, citing continued investor confidence and economic opportunity. He also announced Francis & Meyer Candle Co. as the winner of the inaugural Stouffville Village Small Business Challenge , a joint initiative between the Chamber and the Office of the Mayor. The Challenge awarded a $50,000 grant to support the launch of their new storefront. The local business was selected from 20 applicants following a live pitch finale at 19 on the Park. 'You didn't just pitch an idea, you activated the community, and that kind of spark, it's going to grow into something really lasting,' Chamber Vice-President Indu Bains told the winners. The Mayor also praised Stouffville's ranking as No. 13 nationally on the Globe and Mail's 2024 'Canada's Most Livable Cities' list. The municipality was ranked second in Ontario and first in York Region. The Town was also named to Human Resources Director Canada's 'Best Places to Work' list for the first time. 'This recognition highlights our commitment to fostering a supportive and equitable work environment,' Lovatt said. Looking ahead, Mayor Lovatt highlighted key investments in public amenities. These include design work for a second pool at the Leisure Centre, with $1 million allocated, and upgrades to Civic Square. He also mentioned the $9.75 million investment in Fire and EMS Station 5-2 in Ballantrae. Economic development remained a central focus, with Lovatt reaffirming the Town's push to attract industrial, commercial, and institutional (ICI) employers. 'Attracting ICI businesses remains a top priority of mine,' he said, referencing 1.8 million square feet of employment development in Stouffville's pipeline. He also addressed the Town's ongoing advocacy to open protected Greenbelt lands along the east side of Highway 404 for future business investment, a measure intended to help rebalance the Town's tax base. 'As long as I am mayor, I will continue to advocate so that your property taxes are not bearing the brunt of financing our town,' Lovatt told the crowd. The Mayor took time to acknowledge the work of Town Staff behind the scenes, including Stouffville's Corporate Communications team, which has expanded public engagement through a new branding strategy, in-house design work, and improved communication between the Town and its residents. Lovatt closed by acknowledging global uncertainty and expressing confidence in Stouffville's resilience. 'It's not lost on me that we are living through some pretty uncertain and ever changing economic times, in great part due to the whims of a whack job in the White House,' he said. 'Whatever challenges lay ahead, we at the Town are prepared to weather the storm with you,' Lovatt told attendees. 'We've done it before, COVID comes to mind, and just as we did then, we will get through it... and come out stronger on the other side.' Wrapping up the event, Bains reflected on the energy in the room and the power of collective momentum. 'We're not just building businesses, we're building something bigger together,' she said. 'When businesses come together, the whole town moves forward.' Error! Sorry, there was an error processing your request. There was a problem with the recaptcha. Please try again. Broadcom Gets Mixed Reactions As Modest Earnings Beat Sparks Profit-Taking
Wall Street analysts rerated Broadcom Inc (NASDAQ: AVGO) after it reported second-quarter financial results on Thursday. The company reported second-quarter revenue of $15 billion, up 20%, beating analyst estimates of $14.99 billion, driven by continued momentum in AI semiconductor solutions and VMware. The semiconductor company reported second-quarter adjusted earnings of $1.58 per share, beating analyst estimates of $1.56. The second-quarter AI revenue grew 46% to over $4.4 billion, driven by robust demand for AI networking. Broadcom Tomahawk 6 Flexes AI Muscle, Hyperscalers Are Buying In Broadcom expects third-quarter revenue of approximately $15.8 billion, versus estimates of $15.79 billion. JP Morgan analyst Harlan Sur maintained Broadcom with an Overweight and raised the price target from $250 to $325. Truist Securities analyst William Stein reiterated Broadcom with a Buy and raised the price target from $267 to $295. Rosenblatt analyst Kevin Cassidy maintained Broadcom with a Buy and raised the price target from $223 to $340. Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Matthew Prisco reiterated Broadcom with an Overweight and a $300 price target. Benchmark analyst Cody Acree maintained Broadcom with a Buy and raised the price target from $255 to $315. JP Morgan analyst Sur is encouraged by the Broadcom team's strong line of sight to fiscal 2026 AI revenue profile driven by strong cloud/hyperscaler capex spending trends with continued focus on AI training combined with accelerating AI inference workloads, continued ramp of Alphabet Inc (NASDAQ:GOOGL) Google's next-gen TPU v6/v7 3nm AI accelerator ASICs, ramp up of Meta Platforms (NASDAQ:META) 3nm, and continued strong adoption of ethernet networking. The continued substantial AI revenues underscore Broadcom's strong design win pipeline and confirm Sur's belief that internally developed custom ASIC silicon programs offer opportunities for differentiation, efficiency gains, and improved silicon economics. The analyst said that the fundamentals of cyclical semiconductor businesses are stabilizing across most areas. He stressed that Broadcom continues successfully converting and upselling to its VCF full-stack solution in the infrastructure software business. Even during macro volatility, the team drives a solid revenue growth profile. Sur estimated that Free Cash Flow generation will be $26 billion this year, up 34% year over year, implying a substantial dividend raise at the end of this fiscal year. Broadcom remains his top pick in semiconductors. Broadcom delivered only a modest upside to calendar first-quarter results and the calendar second-quarter guide. Still, Truist Securities analyst Stein noted investors were expecting a more significant beat, considering results from Nvidia Corp (NASDAQ:NVDA) and capex outlooks from hyperscale companies. Stein stated Broadcom's long-term position in AI is stable or potentially improving, with significant customer additions (3 current and 4 potential additions) suggesting meaningful potential upside. He also anticipated long-term upside at VMWare. Broadcom's non-AI semi-sales in the calendar first quarter aligned with Stein's estimate. Still, management guided to flat quarter-on-quarter growth, implying $4 billion in the calendar second quarter and a ~5% miss compared to his model (not surprising to him, considering that he noted excess channel inventory). AI computes (custom accelerators) made up ~60% of total AI sales in the calendar first quarter, implying ~$2.6 billion (14% below his estimate of $3.1 billion). However, Stein remarked that AI networking delivered $1.8 billion in sales, up 170% Y/Y and 33% above his estimate of $1.3 billion. He said that Broadcom expects to shift back to 70/30 compute/networking going forward, implying a double-digit quarter-over-quarter decline in AI networking revenue and an acceleration in custom silicon. Rosenblatt analyst Cassidy writes in the analyst note that Broadcom reported a mostly inline quarter with AI revenue up 46% Q/Q and guided to 60% Y/Y growth. The analyst said that based on good visibility from its three XPU customers, management believes this growth rate can continue into 2026. He was interested in adopting Broadcom's Ethernet products to scale up connectivity and scaling out. Scale-up unit volumes are 5x to 10x higher than scale-out, Cassidy said. The analyst noted that the applications are for both LLM training and inference. He said that with three hyper-scale customers ramping up production, management discussed the other four XPU prospects. Cassidy continued recommending the stock for its strong custom ASIC capabilities. While the second-quarter results and third-quarter guide may be viewed as only a 'skinny beat,' underneath the covers was a very bullish outlook from Broadcom management, Cantor analyst Prisco stated. Broadcom remains Prisco's top pick. AI Semi revenues were guided at +16% Q/Q and 60% Y/Y for the third quarter, with management then suggesting improved visibility today that gives them confidence that the AI semiconductor business can grow at this ~60% rate for all of fiscal 2025 and 2026, the analyst said. He said that AI semiconductor revenues are projected to reach $20 billion+ in fiscal 2025 and $30 billion+ in fiscal 2026, delivering meaningful upside to consensus into calendar 2026. Prisco remarked that non-AI Semiconductor revenues continue to bounce along the bottom while the cash cow Infrastructure Software grows modestly. On a relatively modest beat and raise, Broadcom's shares are off about 4% after hours as investors grapple with results that were closer to the small upside that pummelled Marvell's shares last week versus the stronger outperformance delivered by Nvidia when adjusting for their Chinese exposure, analyst Acree stated. The analyst writes that he understands investors taking profits, particularly considering the company's $120-plus run since its recent early April lows of about $139. He continues to believe Broadcom represents an attractive opportunity as the number two provider of advanced accelerated compute and networking solutions to the AI industry, with direct leverage to the steadily increasing capex budgets of a growing number of the market's largest hyperscale investors.
