IndiGo issues fresh advisory amid Israel-Iran conflict, warns of longer travel time, alternate routes

Mint9 hours ago

Hours after US President Donald Trump announced that a ceasefire deal had been reached between Israel and Iran, several countries in the Gulf region started reopening their airspace, easing the flight disruptions.
In a statement on Tuesday, low-cost carrier IndiGo said that the flight operations through the Gulf region have stabilised. However, it cautioned the passengers that there could be some delays as airspace over Iran remains closed.
'The flight operations into, out of, and through the Gulf countries have stabilised and are operating as scheduled,' the carrier said in a post on social media platform X.
'However, as airspace over Iran remains restricted, some flights may take alternate routes, which could result in longer travel times. We recommend keeping a close watch on your flight status for the latest updates,' it added.
'Rest assured, we are here to assist you and ensure smooth facilitation throughout your journey. Thank you for your continued understanding and trust as we work to bring you safely to your destination.'
The flight operations in the region were suspended after Iran launched missile attacks on US military installations in Qatar and Iraq, including the largest US military base in the region - Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar. These attacks were believed to be a retaliatory move by Iran following US airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities – Natanz, Isfahan, and Fordow – in the early hours of Sunday.
Following this, most countries in the Gulf region, including the UAE, closed their airspace, leading to flight cancellations by several airlines. According to Bloomberg, dozens of aircraft were diverted from Dubai and Doha during the disruptions that lasted several hours.
In India, on Tuesday morning, flight operations at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport were severely affected since Monday night, with 48 cancellations reported across both arrivals and departures, according to news agency ANI.
Among the affected services, 28 were incoming flights and 20 were outbound, with national carrier Air India and low-cost operator IndiGo bearing the brunt of the disruptions.
Air India had 17 arrival and 10 departure cancellations, totalling 27 flights. IndiGo followed with eight arrival and seven departure cancellations, amounting to 15 flights. Other airlines, including global carriers, saw three arrivals and three departures cancelled.

JPMorgan sees Asian Tech stocks gaining another 15-20% this year

Asian technology stocks may rally another 15 per cent-20 per cent this year, driven mainly by the strong momentum in the artificial intelligence space, according to JPMorgan Chase & Co. 'AI will continue to lead this upcycle on the growth in datacenter capex in 2025 and more confidence in 2026 growth,' analysts including Gokul Hariharan wrote in a report. 'We are not advising any meaningful rotation away from AI stocks in the next three months and would prefer' to stick with the winners. AI stocks are rapidly emerging as pivotal drivers of the region's equity markets, underpinned by a robust domestic appetite for automation and generative technology. A Bloomberg regional semiconductor index has risen over 12per cent this year to outperform an Asian equity gauge, and resilient demand for AI memory chips from big tech providers may drive further gains. JPMorgan's top stock picks include the region's largest chipmakers, including Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co., SK Hynix Inc., Advantest Corp and Delta Electronics Inc. Those shares should continue their upward momentum in the next 12 months, as demand is not an issue and earnings will continue to be revised up, they wrote. The bank is more cautious on non-AI stocks, such as makers of personal computers, smartphones and consumer devices. Earnings downward revisions may continue as the impact of China consumption subsidies fades, the report added.

‘Dear Donald.' Trump Posts Fawning Private Text From Nato Chief On Social Media News18

The message started by congratulating Donald Trump on his 'decisive action in Iran' and then got even more flattering, gushing about reaching the precipice of achieving 'something NO American president in decades could have done.'This wasn't an ardent supporter swooning or the president taking to social media to sing his own praises in his familiar ALL CAPS style. This was NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte heaping direct praise on Trump as he flew to a two-day NATO summit in the Netherlands.'Mr. President, dear Donald,' Rutte's message began, as seen by a screenshot Trump posted on his social media network. 'Congratulations and thank you for your decisive action in Iran, that was truly extraordinary, and something no one else dared to do. It makes us all safer.'The fawning tone may have been an attempt to butter up Trump ahead of a key meeting — the kind of effusive praise that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has adopted lately in negotiating and then announcing a recent trade agreement between the United Kingdom and the U.S. that is meant to ease Trump's promised steep tariffs on imported British goods.
