Delhi Police cracks down on illegal transport and storage of narcotic medicines in Delhi Cantt; 1 arrested
New Delhi [India], May 21 (ANI): A team of Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Delhi Police in South West District arrested one drug peddler and seized a total 83090 tablets of banned pharma drugs (Alprazolam & Zolpidem) and 26,000 packets of prohibited foreign cigarettes from Mehram Nagar area of Delhi Cantt, police said on Wednesday.
According to a statement, the crackdown on the prohibited narcotics medicine unfolded when Delhi police received credible information regarding certain international cargo courier service operators in the Mehram Nagar area who are involved in supplying these medicines and imported cigarettes.
The information revealed that the peddlers have set up a few godowns in the Mehram Nagar area where these prohibited items are being stored.
The ANTF team of Delhi police led further investigation and identified the suspect's location in Mehram Nagar. The team laid trap near the identified premises and arrested the accessed identified as Sanjay Kumar Pandey, the statement said.
During the search of the premises, a large number of cartons containing prohibited narcotic medicine tablets and imported cigarettes were recovered from the premises. Upon checking all the boxes, a huge quantity of contraband was found, including: 83,090 tablets (1MG each tablet) of banned pharmaceutical drugs (Alprazolam & Zolpidem) and 26,000 packets of prohibited foreign cigarettes, which did not bear the mandatory health warning or MRP as required under the COTPA Act.
The accused admitted that they do not have a License or medical prescriptions for the sale, import, export or storage of the said items in Delhi and NCR, the statement said.
The accused revealed that his brother, Pramod Pandey, helped him establish a business of international cargo and courier services at Mehram Nagar. Currently, Pramod Pandey has set up his business in Dubai and is absconding in other NDPS-related cases. Sanjay used to supply these prohibited medicines at high rates. In 2011, he was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau, Delhi, with a large quantity of prohibited medicines and was sent to jail. After getting bail, he shifted to Mumbai, where he was again apprehended by the Narcotics team with drugs and was sent to jail, the statement read.
The case is a significant bust of a foreign-linked narcotics supply chain and disrupted mid-level operations in the capital. Further investigation regarding the source and supply chain of drug supplier (Narcotics Substance) and prohibited foreign cigarettes is under progress. (ANI)

Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Security forces conducted a joint mock drill at the Baltal base camp in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal in preparation for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, scheduled to start on July 3. The exercise was conducted under the supervision of the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ganderbal. The exercise saw coordinated participation from multiple agencies, including the Jammu and Kashmir Police, National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), 49 Battalion CRPF, the Indian Army, Health Department, and Fire and Emergency Services.

Arrests made in Haryana's Aravalli forest fire, says Nuh Deputy Commissioner
Authorities in Haryana on Friday said that arrests have been made and an investigation has been initiated into the fire that engulfed five acres of Aravalli forest in Nuh district of Haryana a day ago. Nuh Deputy Commissioner Vishram Kumar Meena said that the incident had been investigated, and a review meeting was held. He stated that plastic pickers dumping plastic and chemical waste on the ground causes incidents of fire. An FIR has been filed, and arrests have been made in connection with these incidents, the Deputy Commmissioner said. " This problem had been going on for a long time, where plastic pickers would dump plastic and chemical waste on the ground, causing damage to the environment and incidents of fire. We formed a committee led by the SDM and filed an FIR, made some arrests," Deputy Commissioner Meena said. On fire in the Aravalli forest on Thursday, he said, "Yesterday again a fire incident took place, we investigated and held a review meeting on it... The forest department has been directed to plant trees and put up fences under the 'Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam' initiative... The accused will also be punished if found guilty of causing fire. "Forest Guard Anoop Singh said that the dumping yard in Aravalli catches fire every eight to ten days. "This area comes under Aravalli 1, and illegal dumping has been done here for a long time... No new dump is being done here now, but this dumping yard catches fire every eight to ten days," the Forest Guard told ANI. He added that there were 20-22 illegal slums, which have now been removed. "There were 20-22 slums that occupied the land illegally and used to collect metal to sell to the nearby shops, and now they have been removed," he said.

The post alleged that Harjit Kaur and Karanvir had been managing the criminal operations of Bhagwanpuria. Batala deputy superintendent of police Paramveer Singh said both the victims sustained bullet injuries on the face, chest, and stomach. Harjit Kaur was rushed to the local civil hospital from where she was referred to a hospital in Amritsar, but succumbed to the bullet injuries. Karanvir, who is the son of a Punjab Police assistant sub inspector, was declared dead at the Batala civil hospital. The DSP said a case has been registered and teams have been formed to arrest the killers. 'We are investigating the motive behind the incident,' he said. Harjit Kaur, who belongs to Bhagwanpur village, was elected as the sarpanch during the previous Congress regime. She was active in the Congress but before the Dera Baba Nanak assembly byelections last year, she joined the Aam Aadmi Party. In March, gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria was detained under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT-NDPS) and shifted from Bathinda central jail to Assam's Silchar jail on the recommendation of the Narcotics Control Bureau. Bhagwanpuria was in Punjab Police custody for singer Sidhu Moosewala's murder in Mansa on May 29, 2022. Moosewala was murdered by the Goldy Brar-Lawrence Bishnoi-Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang to avenge the killing of Youth Akali Dal leader Vikramjit Singh, alias Vicky Middukhera, by the Bambiha gang in Mohali on August 7, 2021. Bhagwanpuria faces 128 criminal cases, including high-profile murders and extortion, besides the Arms Act and 13 under the NDPS Act, since 2012.
