Spurs Agree Terms With Brentford To Bring In New Boss Frank Thomas: Reports
Last Updated:
Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly agreed with Brentford to appoint Thomas Frank as head coach after sacking Ange Postecoglou.
Seems like Spurs are ready for yet another rebuild under new management.
Reports on Thursday suggest that Tottenham Hotspur have reached an agreement with Premier League rivals Brentford to make Thomas Frank their head coach following the sacking of Ange Postecoglou.
Life in the Premier League is never easy, and former Spurs boss Postecoglou learnt it the hard way, being sacked 16 days after winning a historic Europa League title, bringing an end to a 17-year trophy drought.
The 59-year-old Australian paid the price for a disastrous Premier League campaign, which saw the team finish in 17th place—their worst-ever result—with 22 defeats and 65 goals conceded.
Spurs then set their sights on Frank after dismissing Postecoglou last week, and made an official approach to Brentford earlier this week.
Reports from BPA and TalkSport stated that discussions initially centred on Frank's current terms at Brentford and further talks were required over which backroom staff he would take with him.
Well, Spurs have seemingly already set the plan to secure Thomas and a rebuild in motion, by also bringing in his assistant from Brentford, Justine Cochrane, on Thursday.
Frank's contract with Brentford was set to run until 2027. It is understood he has a release clause of about £10 million ($13.6 million).
PA announced on Thursday that a deal had been reached, and the Athletic reported that Spurs were set to confirm the appointment of the 51-year-old Dane.
Frank led Brentford back to the top flight in 2021 after a 74-year absence and has since secured the west London club's place in the Premier League.
He began his coaching career with the Danish national team's youth setup before spending three years at Brondby. Frank then joined Brentford as an assistant coach, eventually taking over from Dean Smith when he moved to Aston Villa.
After narrowly missing out in the 2020 Championship play-off final, Brentford succeeded in winning promotion through the play-offs the following year.
Since then, the Bees have finished 13th, ninth, 16th, and 10th despite regularly selling some of their best players.

Kyrgios confirms his breakup with influencer Costeen Hatzi, wishes her 'nothing, but the best'
Image via Instagram/ Costeen Hatzi At 30, Australian tennis maverick Nick Kyrgios is stepping off the court and into the spotlight—this time, revealing that his high-profile romance with influencer Costeen Hatzi has hit its final serve. In an intimate and candid fan Q&A session on Instagram, the Wimbledon finalist opened up about the details of his relationship and break-up, wishing his ex 'nothing but the best' and reminiscing on 'incredible memories.' Since pairing up in December 2021, after a 'mirror sale' ignited sparks between the attractive duo, Kyrgios and Hatzi captured headlines with their glow-up moments featured in Netflix's Break Point docuseries. But as whispers of a breakup swirled online from April, fans have been desperate for confirmation. Now, Kyrgios has officially broken his silence—with humor, grace, and a newly shaven head to boot. What caused the 'trouble in paradise' for Kyrgios? Nick Kyrgios speaks out on breakup from influencer girlfriend Costeen Hatzi Kyrgios's confession came during an Instagram 'ask me anything,' where he was prompted by his fans about the buzz surrounding their breakup. Kyrgios, while 'not holding back' anything, candidly confessed that: 'Things happen. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Simple. Clean. He also celebrated turning 30 with a bald look (both head and tone: 'unreal'), insisting he's 'not even in [his] prime yet'. (via Their relationship began behind the mirrored lens of Instagram: Hatzi, selling a mirror, asked Kyrgios if he wanted to buy it—and love was instant. Their romance flourished as they moved in together in 2022 and even fueling engagement rumors, including Kyrgios joking 'Our wedding soon' on a public photo in early 2023 released on social media. Yet by April, clear signals emerged: both removed each other's initials from their Instagram bios, and Hatzi dropped cryptic TikToks referencing marital tensions. Hatzi later spoke positively about life post-split—highlighting her resilience and brand-work, even attending a major event in Sydney and supporting ovarian cancer research. Meanwhile, Kyrgios is juggling more than romantic headlines: plagued by injuries that sidelined him from the French Open and Wimbledon, he's also lost commentary gigs with BBC and ESPN. Still, his spirit remains unbroken—and he's vowed that this chapter is just the tip of his prime. Kyrgios's heartfelt yet playful statement marks a turning point—respectful closure with a wink to the future. As both he and Hatzi shift gears, fans can expect fresh chapters ahead: Kyrgios possibly aiming for tennis glory and personal reinvention at 30, and Hatzi blazing her own trail in the influencer world. While break-ups may sting for most couples, these two leave their fans lessons on how to part with grace and dignity.

WTC Final, AUS vs SA: Kagiso Rabada becomes only second player to achieve this unique feat in Lord's 141-year history
Rabada claimed a total of 9 wickets against AUS, including a fifer in the first innings (Image via AP /Kirsty Wigglesworth) South African fast bowler Kagiso Rabada has etched his name alongside West Indies legend Gordon Greenidge as the only two players in the 141-year history of Lord's to appear on the iconic honours boards in both the home and away dressing rooms. Rabada 's latest feat came during the World Test Championship (WTC) final against Australia at the historic ground. The 30-year-old delivered a masterclass, claiming 5 for 51 in the first innings and following it up with another four wickets in the second, helping South Africa stay competitive against a strong Australian side. In Test cricket, players who score a century or take a five-wicket haul at Lord's earn the privilege of having their name inscribed in gold lettering on the famous honours boards - an accolade revered by cricketers worldwide. Before Rabada, this rare distinction belonged solely to Gordon Greenidge. The legendary opener's scores of 214 not out and 103 for the West Indies against England in 1984 and 1988 are immortalised on the away honours board. Lesser known, however, is Greenidge's appearance on the home board — a result of his 122 while playing for the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) against the Rest of the World in 1987. Bold prediction! Astrologer Greenstone Lobo picks winner of Australia vs South Africa WTC Final 2025 Rabada, too, was already on the away board for his five-wicket haul (5 for 52) against England in 2022. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Sunderland: If You Were Born Between 1945-1974 You Could Be Eligible For This British Seniors Read More Undo But this time, a unique twist added to the story. As South Africa were assigned the home dressing room for the WTC final, Rabada's first-innings five-for earned him a place on the home board as well — making him only the second player in Lord's history to achieve this honour. A piece of sticky batting tape with Rabada's name written on it has been temporarily attached to the board for his figures of 5-51, as tradition dictates during the match. The gold lettering will follow soon, reported the BBC. Poll Do you believe Rabada's doping ban affected his performance? Yes No, he has fully recovered Rabada's achievement is even more poignant given his recent redemption arc, bouncing back strongly after serving a doping ban for using a recreational drug — an incident Australian captain Pat Cummins confirmed his side would not exploit as a sledging tactic. 'That's not our style. I doubt that will come up,' Cummins said before the final. Cricket greats have not held back in their praise. Former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting likened Rabada's prowess at Lord's to that of Glenn McGrath, who famously exploited the unique slope at the ground to devastating effect. 'Glenn McGrath was exactly the same at Lord's. He loved bowling there and mastered the slope from both ends — something not talked about as much as it should be,' Ponting told the ICC. 'These big games are about big-name players standing up, and Rabada did exactly that. ' Temba Bavuma on picking Ngidi over Paterson for WTC Final: 'Tough decision' Reflecting on his name appearing in both dressing rooms, Rabada called the achievement 'cool', underlining the personal significance of joining such a niche club in cricket's spiritual home.

Most expensive Premier League signings: Florian Writz set to break record
Premier League champion Liverpool agreed a deal for German forward Florian Wirtz with Bayer Leverkusen for a reported initial fee of £100 million, making him the club's most expensive acquisition. Liverpool will also pay Leverkusen performance-related add-ons, possibly lifting Wirtz's overall fee to £116 million ($157 million), which could make him the most expensive Premier League signing of all time. Wirtz and Liverpool though failed to beat the Premier League initial fee record, falling short of the £107 million Chelsea paid for Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez in 2023. Chelsea is also in the conversation for the overall record. In 2023, Moises Caicedo was signed up by Chelsea for an initial £100 million fee, which could rise to £115 million.
