Rock and pop tribute acts to thrill music fans at festival
THE countdown is on to a two-day rock and pop music festival in Poole later this month.
Ultimate Festivals will take place at Upton Country Park over the late May bank holiday on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25.
Audiences will be treated to some of the 'biggest and best-known hits in rock and pop history'.
Organiser Ben Dyas said: 'It's a real pleasure to programme the Ultimate Festivals, knowing we can put some of the best music ever made on our stage.'

With ticket prices for this summer's Oasis reunion out of each for many people, the next best thing could be found at the Ultimate Tribute Festival in the shape of fans' favourite tribute, Oasiss.
They will be joined on Saturday's Rock Anthems bill by Dirty DC (AC/DC), UK Queen, This Is Floyd (Pink Floyd) and the Guns n' Roses Experience.
On Sunday, pop fans can see The Bowie Experience, Blondied, Michael Jackson Starring Ben, Duran, The Rocket Man (Elton John) and Jack Shephard (Ed Sheeran).
(Image: Charlie Raven) Away from the music stage there's lots going on with funfair rides, street food traders providing a host of tasty treats from around the world, and the well-stocked bars include craft beers and ciders, a cocktail station, as well as a full range of soft drinks.
On-site parking is bookable in advance and gates open at 1.30pm.
Ben added: 'There's a great atmosphere from the moment we open the gates.
'People come here ready to have a great time, some wear fancy dress, but everyone's in a good mood and the music is there to build on that.'
'The whole family can join in with family day tickets from £47– so it's not an expensive festival by any means – and everyone goes home happy.'

Tributes paid to healthcare worker and Kate Nash 'superfan' who has died at 22
A mother has paid tribute to her beloved daughter and Kate Nash "superfan", who has died at the age of 22. "Fun-loving" Laura Lily-Anne Ray, of Bitterne Park, was a healthcare assistant in Marchwood whose death has left friends and family devastated. Mum Janina said Laura would be missed by everyone who knew her - with singer Kate Nash, best known for her track Foundations, penning a letter of condolence to the family. The singer's track Ray, released in 2024 as part of 9 Sad Symphonies, was created for Laura's 18th birthday and takes its name from Laura. "She loved getting tattoos, loved EastEnders. She was just a very special individual. "We are devastated, it isn't easy. We have two young boys, so we are having to keep going for them." Laura, a former pupil at Bitterne Park School, was also a member of Westfield Productions and loved performing in pantos, dancing and singing. Janina says Laura had suffered with her mental health, but wanted to use her experience to try and help others, adding: "She excelled at her work and she absolutely loved it. "Laura and I were inspired by Kate Nash at the first gig we saw her at Brighton on her Mental tour. "She spoke so openly about mental health, how it was ok to have feelings and to talk." The family were touched to receive a card and flowers from Kate Nash - who Laura first saw in around 2017 - and condolences from fellow fans as far away as America. In the card, Kate Nash called Laura a "shining light", adding: "I was so proud to call her a fan. "I remember the first time I saw her, she showed me so much love and support. "She will be so missed, and I will never forget her." Janina adds that Laura had two sphinx cats, Ronnie and Rocko, who are up for rehoming as the family cannot care for them. A card and flowers from Kate Nash, lots from work and individual messages," added Janina. "We were supposed to be going to Portugal next Saturday together as a family. She was really looking forward to it." The last time Laura's mum saw her in person was at a family outing at Victoria Country Park on the Thursday before she died. The family spent time enjoying ice creams and making TikTok videos on the beach. Staff at Marchwood Priory, where she worked, have said she was passionate, and "brilliant with the patients and a real team player". She had been living with her grandfather in Bassett, where she sadly took her own life on May 26, her family said. Donations in memory of Laura can be made to MIND. Craig David on 7 Days, selling mixtapes, and his love of performing in Southampton
Craig David has a notoriously busy week, but luckily made time to talk to the Echo about his homecoming show this weekend. The Southampton local who shot to fame overnight in the early 2000s has long graced the RnB scene. He consistently champions is home city too, previously backing the bid for Southampton to be UK City of Culture and praising the pool of local musical talent. The 44-year-old singer, songwriter and DJ said he feels a 'flood of nostalgia' every time he reaches the roundabout at the top of The Avenue on approach to Southampton. 'The feeling of being home just hits every single time…being able to wrap that all up and bring it to the stage is important', he said. 'Specifically in Southampton, some of my tunes and songs mean a lot to people if I play them, for example my first song with Artful Dodger, that would mean a lot. 'People will say 'I remember when he did it on the mixtape and used to sell it at the barbers'. 'I am very excited and I never take the big hug and the love I get every time I come back to Southampton for granted.' David will be taking to the Summer Sessions stage on Guildhall Square on Saturday night, a big event that is proving popular year on year. 'The scene now in Southampton is thriving.' Speaking on his headliner gig on Saturday night, David said he is 'adamant' that he always wants to bring his classic songs to the stage, including 7 Days, the same way they were recorded. 'As it will be a TS5 DJ set, it will give me the freedom to interject with the original, do a remix, throw in an instrumental from another song, which is going back to what I did when I was DJ'ing on the south coast and making mixtapes in my bedroom', he said. And on the subject of 7 Days, it felt right to ask if, writing the song now, whether he would change any of the activities 25 years since its release. He said: 'That song lives in the space of me being 17 years old, looking out my bedroom window, thinking how my life would go down. 'It is the gift that keeps giving.'
