Traffic stop uncovers more than 54 pounds of cocaine
WICHITA COUNTY (KFDX/KJTL) — Wichita County Sheriff's Deputies arrested a man they said had more than 50 pounds of cocaine in his vehicle.Just before 2:20 p.m. Friday, a sheriff's deputy pulled over a Honda Ridgeline for an obscured license plate on US 82 near FM 369.
The deputy said Dennis Pigford, 57, was driving the vehicle. When writing a warning for the license plate, the deputy said he could see factors 'consistent with narcotics smuggling' and asked Pigford if he could search the vehicle. Pigford agreed.During the search, the deputy said he found several white and taped kilogram-sized packages hidden in the right rear fender. Inside was 54 pounds of cocaine.Pigford was taken into custody and charged with the manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, however, his local charge was dropped and he was placed on hold by United State Marshals.

Minor injuries reported in south Abilene collision
ABILENE, Texas () – A collision in south Abilene has sent one to the hospital with minor injuries. Just after 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, a crash occurred in the 5000 block of US 277.
