How to play Quordle
Quordle lives on the Merriam-Webster website. A new puzzle goes live every day. If you've never played, it's a twist on The New York Times' daily Wordle game, in which you have a limited number of attempts to guess a five-letter mystery word. In Quordle, though, you're simultaneously solving four Wordle-style puzzles, and each of your guesses gets applied to the four puzzles simultaneously. Due to the increased difficulty, Quordle grants you nine guesses (12 if you play on 'Chill' mode, or eight if you play on 'Extreme'), rather than Wordle's six.
To start, guess a five-letter word. The letters of the word in each of the four quadrants will turn green if they're correct, yellow if you have the right letter in the wrong place, or gray if the letter isn't in that secret word at all.

How I solved today's Quordle
I start with SLATE and MOUND, then turn my attention to the upper right. I'll try GRAPE. Close. It could be CRAZE. Yep.
The upper left might be TREES. Not quite. I think it has to be WREST. Yes.
I think the bottom right might be SONIC. Nope! The O can't be in second position; that was silly. SCION's the only option.
One guess left. I'll try APPLY. Dang, it was PAPAL. Oh well.
The best starter words for Quordle
What should you play for that first guess? We can look to Wordle for some general guidelines.
The best starters tend to contain common letters, to increase the chances of getting yellow and green squares to guide your guessing. (And if you get all grays when guessing common letters, that's still excellent information to help you rule out possibilities.) There isn't a single 'best' starting word, but The New York Times's Wordle analysis bot has suggested starting with one of these:

Meanwhile, an MIT analysis found that you'll eliminate the most possibilities in the first round by starting with one of these:

Other good picks might be ARISE or ROUND. Words like ADIEU and AUDIO get more vowels in play, but you could argue that it's better to start with an emphasis on consonants, using a starter like RENTS or CLAMP. Choose your strategy, and see how it plays out.

To help keep your streak intact, here's our daily Wordle guide with some hints and the answer for Monday's puzzle (#1,465). It may be that you're a Wordle newcomer and you're not completely sure how to play the game. We're here to help with that too. Wordle is a deceptively simple daily word game that first emerged in 2021. The gist is that there is one five-letter word to deduce every day by process of elimination. The daily word is the same for everyone. Wordle blew up in popularity in late 2021 after creator Josh Wardle made it easy for players to share an emoji-based grid with their friends and followers that detailed how they fared each day. The game's success spurred dozens of clones across a swathe of categories and formats. The New York Times purchased Wordle in early 2022 for an undisclosed sum. The publication said that players collectively played Wordle 5.3 billion times in 2024. So, it's little surprise that Wordle is one of the best online games and puzzles you can play daily. To start playing Wordle, you simply need to enter one five-letter word. The game will tell you how close you are to that day's secret word by highlighting letters that are in the correct position in green. Letters that appear in the word but aren't in the right spot will be highlighted in yellow. If you guess any letters that are not in the secret word, the game will gray those out on the virtual keyboard. However, you can still use those letters in subsequent guesses. You'll only have six guesses to find each day's word, though you still can use grayed-out letters to help narrow things down. It's also worth remembering that letters can appear in the secret word more than once. Wordle is free to play on the NYT's website and apps, as well as on Meta Quest headsets and Discord. The game refreshes at midnight local time. If you log into a New York Times account, you can track your stats, including the all-important win streak. If you have a NYT subscription that includes full access to the publication's games, you don't have to stop after a single round of Wordle. You'll have access to an archive of more than 1,400 previous Wordle games. So if you're a relative newcomer, you'll be able to go back and catch up on previous editions. In addition, paid NYT Games members have access to a tool called the Wordle Bot. This can tell you how well you performed at each day's game. Hideo Kojima has been hard at work editing the final Death Stranding 2 trailer – one he says will make people go, "What?!"

As the wait for Hideo Kojima's long-awaited sequel Death Stranding 2 continues, the iconic director has been preparing the upcoming action-adventure game's final trailer – one he says might leave fans surprised. As translated by Genki in an online post, a recent Koji10 episode on YouTube sees the lead reveal that he's been hard at work recently on the last trailer before the Death Stranding 2 launch on June 26. Not only has Kojima been finalizing what's almost sure to be a cinematic masterpiece of a video while on land, however, but also while mid-air – that's right, he's been editing during flights on the plane by selecting clips to use on his iPad. Kojima promises new information regarding Death Stranding 2 to come to light once the big trailer releases later this month, but that's not all – he also hints that a moment about halfway through the video will leave viewers in awe, asking, "What?!" While he doesn't specify what that moment is or what shocking things it might unveil, it's exciting to think that an even more thought-provoking Death Stranding 2 trailer than the last is arriving. There are more exciting creations to come from Kojima than just the Death Stranding sequel, too. His upcoming project OD, which he describes as "a bit risky" and "a game like no other," is being produced in collaboration with comedian and filmmaker Jordan Peele, and the Death Stranding movie, which Kojima states is "not just a direct translation of the game," is also underway, presenting a "universe that has never been seen before."If Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid ever crossover, Kojima knows who should be a porter, even though they "won't be able to carry things so much"

Hideo Kojima throws a watch party for Death Stranding 2's launch trailer, which sounds increasingly like a short film as it features "180 shots"

Hideo Kojima has finished the final trailer for Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and he's thrown a watch party for the Kojima Productions staff. Death Stranding 2 is just under a week away from releasing, and despite a massive 10-minute long trailer which released earlier this year and showed us a ton of the game's story and action moments (and the guy who looks like Solid Snake), we've got one last trailer coming out for the game. Kojima claimed that this trailer will be shorter than the last, and won't feature story details within it, but at the same time claimed that it will make people go, "What?!" Kojima now says on Twitter that he has completed work on the trailer, which is set to arrive when Death Stranding 2 launches on June 26. Although considering it's one of those games that has a "pay more to play early" version launching on June 24, some players will have been exploring Death Stranding 2 for days by the time its launch trailer releases. In celebration of the trailer being finished, Kojima Productions hosted a watch party for it. This new trailer is set to also be pretty big, as Kojima touts that it has "180 shots this time," meaning we should be seeing a lot of the game next week. Unless he meant that there were 180 shots at the Kojima Productions watch party, in which case there will be a lot of developers with sore heads in the morning. Even if he's just finished a new game, we already know about two more upcoming Hideo Kojima games still to come: OD, an upcoming horror game and Physint, a spiritual successor to Metal Gear.
