Suarez 'so happy for Liverpool' after title win
Luis Suarez came close to firing Liverpool to the Premier League title but the side under Brendan Rodgers could not get the job done.Remember the Uruguayan's tears after the 3-3 draw at Crystal Palace? Now 38 years old, the striker is plying his trade alongside Lionel Messi at Inter Miami as they gear up for Saturday's opening game of the Club World Cup against Al Ahly (kick-off Sunday 01:00 BST).Suarez spoke to the media in the build-up to the game and paid tribute to his former side for their triumph last season."I'm so happy for Liverpool," he said. "They did really well the last few years. To win the Premier League after a few years is so nice for them."Meanwhile, Suarez also spoke about compatriot Darwin Nunez who has struggled to fire at Anfield since joining for £64m from Benfica in 2022.Despite winning the title, Nunez scored only five league goals in 30 games and his future at the club is not assured."Every time, I try to help him but his decision is for himself," said Suarez. "He knows what he wants from football and what he wants for his future and his family."On Friday, Arne Slot's side agreed a club-record £116m deal to sign Florian Wirtz and Suarez added the Germany attacking midfielder has done "really well" at Bayer Leverkusen.

Burnley to offer Taylor Harwood-Bellis Premier League lifeline to replace defender who quit in agents fee row
BURNLEY boss Scott Parker is keen to bring Taylor Harwood-Bellis back for a second spell at Turf Moor. Harwood-Bellis is keen to stay in the Premier League after Southampton's dismal relegation this season. 3 The defender helped Burnley win promotion under Vincent Kompany during a spell on loan from Manchester City in the 2022-23 season. And now the Clarets are interested in buying him — or, more likely, taking him on a loan deal with an option to buy. West Ham are also big admirers of Harwood-Bellis, 23. But they have a limited budget and would only make a move if they sell and need to fill a hole. Burnley have lost CJ Egan-Riley to Marseille for nothing at the end of his contract. The 22-year-old quit because they would not pay a huge agent's fee. Harwood-Bellis is facing a season in the Championship with Saints, so a second spell at promoted Burnley would suit him. Meanwhile, Clarets skipper Josh Brownhill is yet to commit to a new deal. And that has alerted Ipswich Town after their relegation. The 29-year-old midfielder and his adviser are looking for a big pay day. Scott Parker sheds tears in emotional celebration with family as Burnley boss retains hundred per cent promotion record Ipswich may better the money on offer at Turf Moor even if it means dropping back to the Championship. 3

Tel makes Tottenham move permanent after loan from Bayern
June 15 (Reuters) - Forward Mathys Tel has signed for Tottenham Hotspur on a permanent deal after a four-month loan spell at the Premier League team from Bayern Munich, both clubs said on Sunday. The France Under-21 international has signed a contract at Tottenham until 2031, with media reports saying the deal was worth around 30 million pounds ($41 million). "Mathys Tel came to FC Bayern as a very young player and mastered his first steps at the top level of European football here," Bayern's head of sport Max Eberl said in a statement. "He was a popular figure in the squad, who always gave his all for the club and the team. The move to Tottenham has turned out to be the right one for his development." Tel, 20, joined Bayern from Stade Rennes in 2022 on a four-year deal and extended his contract to 2029 in March last year, scoring 16 goals in 83 appearances for the German club, but struggling to find a place in the starting side. He joined Tottenham on loan in February, making 20 appearances, and was part of the squad which earned the North London club their first major trophy in 17 years with a 1-0 victory over Manchester United in the Europa League final. Tel becomes the first signing under new coach Thomas Frank, who was appointed on Thursday to replace the sacked Ange Postecoglou. ($1 = 0.7372 pounds)
