Chargesheet in National Herald case against Gandhi family a 'pure political witch-hunt': Amitabh Dubey
Terming the chargesheet field by the Enforcement Directorate against Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald Case as 'pure political witch-hunt' by the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP), Amitabh Dubey, in-charge of Research and Monitoring, Communications Department, Indian National Congress, said in Coimbatore on Monday that the BJP, in a state of 'scare', had resorted to the act to divert public attention from crucial issues facing the nation.
'Fabricated cases' against the Gandhi family was nothing short of 'grotesque abuse of state machinery'. Charges of money-laundering has been made in a case where not a single penny or asset had been transferred.
Originally founded as a public limited newspaper company, the objective of the Associated Journals Limited (AJL) was to be the mouthpiece of freedom struggle and not to make profits. The immovable properties held by AJL in Delhi, Panchkula, Mumbai, Patna and Indore were leased and allotted to publish newspapers, and can't be sold. The only freehold property was in Lucknow. Hence, the allegation that AJL holds real estate of the value of thousands of crores of rupees was baseless, Mr. Dubey told mediapersons.
As the AJL had incurred losses and accumulated debts resulting in suspension of its operations, the Congress party had stepped in between 2002 and 2011 by extending loans in 100 small tranches totalling ₹90 crore, for payment of salaries, provident fund, retirement benefits, gratuity, and pending electricity bills.
After obtaining legal advice, Young Indian was formed as a charitable not-for-profit company, with four shareholders, all senior-most office-bearers: Ms. Sonia Gandhi (the then president of AICC), late Motilal Vora (then treasurer), late Oscar Fernandes (then general secretary of AICC), and Mr. Rahul Gandhi (then general secretary).
Since AJL was in distress, the ₹90 crore loan was converted to equity through Young Indian. The entire Bankruptcy Code is based on this principle and is a well-established global practice, Mr. Dubey said, citing the instances of purchase of Ruchi Soya's debt by Baba Ramdev's Patanjali, and the Modi Government's waiver of ₹36,000 crore owed by Vodafone by taking over ownership by increasing the government's holding to 49.99 % from 22.6%.
No director or shareholder of Young Indian has gained financially. 'No salary, dividend, or profit can be accrued, even if Young Indian were to shut down,', Mr. Dubey said, adding: 'There was not a single rupee that either Ms. Sonia Gandhi or Mr. Rahul Gandhi or any other Director of Young Indian Ltd. Got.'
During August 2015, the ED had closed the file on record. In 2023, the ED issued a provisional attachment order, which was confirmed by a tribunal on April 10, 2024. On the 365th and final day - April 9, 2025 - the ED filed a chargesheet, but the contents are not yet public.
The delay shows the case was on a 'very frivolous footing' and also reeks of the moral-political bankruptcy of the Modi Government, Mr. Dubey pointed out.
A new false controversy is being created by the BJP about government advertisements in the National Herald newspaper. 'The Congress party will pursue the matter in courts, but we refuse to be intimidated by the Modi Government,' Mr. Dubey said.

BJP slams Rahul Gandhi, calls him Pakistan's spokesperson
Rahul Gandhi (Picture credit: PTI) NEW DELHI: On the day when Rahul Gandhi 's surrender barb at PM Narendra Modi became a talking point in Pakistan as lawmakers and ministers used his remarks and statements to fuel their anti-India propaganda, BJP on Thursday attacked the Congress MP for alleging that Trump forced India to accept a ceasefire on May 10, with Union minister Dharmendra Pradhan saying he is promoting Pakistan propaganda. "Rahul Gandhi is Pakistan's spokesperson. Pakistan would not acknowledge this and he would deny this. But the Congress leader's conduct is the clinching evidence," Pradhan said, adding, "This is not a conspiracy theory, nor is it motivated by partisanship. The proof is in the public domain and for everyone to see. He has been Pakistan's trumpet." Pradhan said from accusing Hindus and Hindutva of violence to lying that India surrendered to foreign pressure to suspend Operation Sindoor , Rahul has unfailingly parroted Islamabad line. "He copies and pastes statements on Pakistan's website and exposes his stupidity," Pradhan said. Pakistan defence minister Khwaja Asif, in a viral video, could be heard speaking about Rahul's jibe at the Indian govt. "People of India are beginning to realise that their Prime Minister has surrendered," Asif claimed, in an attempt to save his own face after his humiliating takedown during Operation Sindoor. Union parliamentary affairs minister Kiren Rijiju also took note of the viral video and slammed the Congress MP for crossing the line, so much so that it seems to be going against the nation. "There is a limit to stupidity & opposition! There's nobody in Congress Party to tell him that being in the opposition party does not mean, to oppose the nation?" TNN

Two Attacks, Two Responses: UPA Donated Crores To Terror State Pakistan Post 26/11, Modi Made Them Beg For Water After Pahalgam
New Delhi: When terrorists backed by Pakistan slaughtered over 150 innocent Indians in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, the country was still bleeding. Less than two years later, in August 2010, the then United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, led by the Congress, decided to reward the perpetrator. Yes, you read that right. While Ajmal Kasab, the lone captured terrorist, was still alive and the evidence of Pakistan's hand in the massacre was irrefutable, the grand old party decided to send $25 million (Rs 115 crore then) to Pakistan for 'flood relief'. A gift from victims to their killers. This is not fiction. This is the Congress model – a blueprint of the diplomacy, wrapped in misplaced virtue-signaling. Rahul Gandhi's political lineage, which had already failed to secure India's borders or respond with force, chose instead to write a cheque to a terror-exporting regime that had just soaked Indian soil in blood. While Indians mourned, the Congress extended a warm diplomatic handshake to the very state shielding terror masterminds like Hafiz Saeed. At a time when even speaking to Pakistan should have been unthinkable, then External Affairs Minister S.M. Krishna proudly told Parliament, 'We cannot remain unconcerned with this grave humanitarian crisis... The Government has decided to increase its assistance to Pakistan from 5 million US dollars to 25 million US dollars.' The Congress tried to justify the aid by wrapping it in the rhetoric of regional solidarity. Krishna claimed, 'Prime Minister has rightly said that in such times of natural disasters, all of South Asia should rise to the occasion…' August 2010: Barely 2 years after 26/11, where 150+ Indians were slaughtered, UPA Govt announced $25 MILLION aid to Pakistan for 'Flood Relief' Kasab was alive. Proofs were out. But Congress still rewarded the enemy. This is Congress model. Rahul Gandhi's philosophy. — The Analyzer (News Updates) (@Indian_Analyzer) May 23, 2025 But Indians asked then and still ask today, What solidarity did Pakistan show when it sent terrorists to Mumbai, Gurdaspur, Pathankot, Pulwama and now Pahalgam? Now Contrast That With Modi's India Fast forward to 2025. Another Pakistan-backed bloodbath in Pahalgam claims 26 more Indian lives, mostly tourists. But this time, India's response was not folded hands. It was a clenched fist. Within hours, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government in the Centre swiftly decided and put the Indus Waters Treaty – a pact in place since 1960 that gifted Pakistan unfettered access to India's rivers – into abeyance. The move stunned Islamabad. No Indian government had dared to touch this treaty, even during wars. Modi did it after one terror attack. The practical effect? India began diverting water from the Ravi, Beas and Sutlej rivers, constructing bypass channels and storage systems to redirect flow into Indian fields and reservoirs. Harike and Hussainiwala barrage gates were shut. The symbolic dam of restraint was finally broken. Pakistan's Fields Begin Turning Barren The impact on Pakistan has been devastating. With drastically reduced inflow to Mangla and Tarbela dams, Sindh and Punjab provinces are witnessing crop failures on a massive scale. Cotton, sugarcane and wheat, the backbone of Pakistan's agrarian economy, are withering. Tubewells are drying up. Angry farmers have staged protests across Multan and Bahawalpur, blaming Islamabad's 'jihadi diplomacy' for provoking India into retaliation. Four formal pleas have been sent by Pakistan to India seeking talks to reinstate the treaty. They even appealed to the World Bank to mediate. New Delhi's answer? Silence. The message – 'Terror has a cost. You will now pay it in water.' Apart from the water blockade, India has revoked trade ties, recalled the Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status for Pakistan, restricted visas and cut back power grid cooperation in Jammu and Kashmir's border areas. National security agencies have fast-tracked cross-border strike protocols and armed forces have been given greater latitude to respond to infiltration. Meanwhile, the BJP leadership has categorically ruled out any talks unless Pakistan shuts down terror camps and hands over fugitives like Dawood Ibrahim and Hafiz Saeed. Two Attacks, Two Responses What India saw in 2011 was a government that bled and bowed. What it sees now is a government that strikes and stands firm. This is not only about aid or diplomacy, it is about intent. The Congress sent dollars. Modi shut dams. The Congress appealed for peace. Modi enforced pressure. The Congress forgave terror. Modi made terror pay. The difference? The Congress bent. Modi stood tall.

BJP sought caste census during UPA rule: OBC Morcha chief
Bhopal: The BJP on Friday mounted its attack on the Congress for taking credit for the Centre's decision to carry out a caste census, saying the main opposition party intends to "mislead people for vote politics". "The decision taken for the caste census is a historic step. The Congress is today spreading the propaganda that the Modi govt took the decision of caste census under the pressure of Rahul Gandhi," BJP OBC Morcha national president K Laxman said here on Friday. "I want to ask Rahul Gandhi and Congress leaders that for decades they were in power in the country and three members of the Nehru-Gandhi family were prime ministers. Why did Rahul Gandhi not demand a caste census at that time? Today, when he is in the opposition, he is talking about caste census to mislead people for vote bank politics," he said at a massive workshop of the party's OBC Morcha. Laxman said during the Manmohan Singh govt, BJP demanded a caste census. The workshop was also addressed by BJP state president VD Sharma, state BJP organisational general secretary Hitanand Sharma, state BJP backward classes front chief Narayan Singh Kushwaha, and cabinet minister Krishna Gaur. Laxman said caste census has been taking place in the country since the British era, but after the independence of the country, the first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru stopped the practice of caste census through the Central Census Act. "Pt Nehru shelved the report of the Kaka Kalelkar Committee. OBC Commission was not formed. Later, the govt of Morarji Desai constituted the Mandal Commission. The govt of Indira Gandhi also maintained silence on it, and the govt of VP Singh implemented it," Laxman recalled. He said in 1961, Pt Nehru wrote a letter to the chief ministers of the states and said that reservation should be done on an economic basis. Laxman claimed that the BJP never backed down from the matter of caste census. "When the Modi govt was formed in 2014, the then Union home minister Rajnath Singh said that we will do the census by adding castes, but due to the Covid crisis, it could not be possible," he said.
