How to Watch the 2025 Austrian GP on a Free Channel
After an exciting win for George Russell in Canada, fans are gearing up for another Grand Prix. You know the deal, it's time to learn how to watch the F1 Austrian GP on a free channel.
The Austrian Grand Prix live stream is available on several premium streaming services. However, not everyone has the luxury of affording them. If you're one of those fans, this free TV channel has your back!
An ideal place to catch up on all Formula One races for free is SRF.
SRF is a Swiss-based TV channel with an on-demand service titled SRF Play. SRF Play's website allows you to enjoy this company's channels, and SRF Zwei broadcasts the 2025 Austria GP online for free.
The great thing about SRF Play is that it's 100% free and doesn't require an account. This means you can waltz in on the race day, click the live-stream, and enjoy. Moreover, it'll be broadcast in Full HD.
As a result, users can enjoy the highest-quality footage of the race.
The problem, however, is that SRF's content is region-locked chiefly to Switzerland. Furthermore, as a Swiss TV channel, it's not in English, and the German-language commentary might break the immersion.
Watch F1 Austria GP With NordVPN
Avid F1 fans looking to save money won't mind. Besides, this is an excellent proposition given the live-stream quality and the fact that it's free, without an account. So, how do people watch SRF abroad?
This question segues into the solution working for thousands of motorsport fans abroad. Most of them have reported that VPNs help tremendously. NordVPN, as the most popular one, seems to work rather well.
It offers VPN servers in Switzerland and is suited to streaming. People often praise its unrestricted speeds, unlimited bandwidth, applications for all devices, and Swiss IPs. There's also a 30-day refund policy.
This allows users to get NordVPN, watch the F1 Austria GP live on a free channel, and get a refund. However, most fans keep using NordVPN long-term and enjoy free F1 broadcasts, saving tons of money on premium services.
You may wonder how this is possible; here's the trick.
SRF Play allows only Swiss-based users to access the content. The trick is to connect to a VPN server in Switzerland, which assigns you a Swiss IP and hides the original one. Now, you appear in Switzerland!
It's a clever trick that doesn't require extensive tech knowledge. Anyone can do it, as proven by the many motorsport lovers worldwide who employ NordVPN to watch F1 and MotoGP races for free online.
And if you want the trick to remain 100% free, we recommend reading our guide on how to try NordVPN for free and without risk.
The trick with the free channel works worldwide. However, you must consider the price if you're in the UK or the US and want English-speaking options. No free channel broadcasts this or any other F1 race for free in those countries.
The race is accessible on Sky Sports and Channel 4 in the UK.
Sky Sports is around £20 monthly, while Channel 4 is £39.99 annually.
You'll find ESPN+ helpful in the US, but it costs $11.99 monthly or $119.99 annually. These platforms provide an exceptional F1 Austria GP live stream quality (up to 4K) in English, but at steep prices.
We should also mention F1 TV as a third option. It costs over $65 annually and has no monthly plans, resulting in a high upfront cost. All things considered, a free channel like SRF remains a solid choice.

Thierry Neuville slams Hankook tyres at WRC Acropolis Rally
Thierry Neuville has said the World Rally Championship's Hankook control tyres are 'not on the level' they should be after suffering a series of problems during Acropolis Rally Greece. The reigning world champion cut a frustrated figure on Friday after suffering punctures in back-to-back stages, resulting in the Belgian dropping from the rally lead to eighth. Advertisement Neuville wasn't the only driver to suffer tyre problems: all of the Rally1 field, except his Hyundai team-mate Adrien Fourmaux, either picked up tyre damage or punctures while navigating through the rough gravel stages. To make matters worse for Neuville, a slow puncture to his right rear cost him time in Saturday's stage eight before going on to pick up tyre damage on the left rear in the next stage. Despite the problems, Neuville managed to climb ahead of Toyota's Kalle Rovanpera to seventh overall. Neuville was still frustrated though, telling the end of stage nine reporter: "The tyres are not on the level. If you see why we puncture, it's just insane. 'Playing on that level with such a product is not possible. We get punished all the time for nothing, it's not fun. It's just luck that decides. We keep on going and make up some ground.' Thierry Neuville, Martijn Wydaeghe, Hyundai World Rally Team Hyundai i20 N Rally1 Thierry Neuville, Martijn Wydaeghe, Hyundai World Rally Team Hyundai i20 N Rally1 Neuville elaborated further on the matter once he reached the service park: 'Yesterday, one of the tyres wasn't even punctured at the end. For a few seconds, it jumped around and let the air out and we put the pressure back in it last night and the tyre stayed full pressure overnight. Advertisement 'It is just a manufacturing, reliability issue and that is not how we should fight for the world championship and it is the same for the punctures. "This morning it wasn't visible where the tyre was losing air. It was a really small hole and I have never seen this before, it is really insane. I have had more punctures now than I had all last year. They [Hankook] have big work to do.' This is Hankook's first year as the WRC's control tyre supplier having taken over the contract that was previously held by Pirelli. The Korean tyre manufacturer has so far attracted limited criticism having produced a tyre that has been durable at the majority of events this year. However, this weekend's Acropolis, round seven of 2025, has arguably proved to be the tyre brand's toughest test yet. Conditions for this season's event, moved from September back to a traditional June date, have been much rougher than previous years, exacerbated by a prolonged period without rainfall to compact the roads. Hankook responds to Neuville's concerns Responding to Neuville's comments, Hankook's spokesperson Steven Cho told 'We absolutely share his [Neuville's] frustration. I think he has had more than his fair share of issues. Thierry Neuville, Martijn Wydaeghe, Hyundai World Rally Team Hyundai i20 N Rally1 Thierry Neuville, Martijn Wydaeghe, Hyundai World Rally Team Hyundai i20 N Rally1 "Coming to Greece we knew it would be the biggest challenge of the season, and from what we understand it is even harsher from a temperature and stage perspective than what we have seen in the past few years. We knew it would be a massive challenge and it has proved to be. Advertisement 'As this is our first year our focus was to come [to the WRC] with a conservative approach to make sure our tyres are as robust as possible, and I think we have seen up until now, generally, we have been ok. Of course we are not complacent about it and in motorsport things can always be better, and so we will continue to push but we knew this was going to be challenging. 'Moving forward we have developments that we are working on closely with the manufacturers as well as the FIA, and our plan is definitely not to stand still. But at the same time we need to find the appropriate time to bring those. We have multiple things in the process of development. 'Delaminations is something that we didn't like to see for sure. There are different types of tyre problems, there is the basic impact or basic debeading from a lateral impact. The delaminations are a combination of the extreme heat we are seeing here and also the very abrasive surfaces that are compounding that problem. This is something we will look seriously at to avoid those. 'As far as the issues we have seen here, that to a certain extent are a little bit unavoidable and to a certain extent expected, we will look at the data and see how we can come back stronger next year.' Cardiff City striker Roko Simic is on the move once again. The 21-year-old former Croatian youth international – once valued at €10m – will feature for Karlsruher SC in the 2. Bundesliga next season. The Fächerstadt will serve as the seventh professional club Simic has represented in his young career. Germany counts as the sixth country in which he's played. Simic began his career with Lokomotiva Zagreb in his native country before moving to RB Salzburg in July 2021. The German Red Bulls loaned him out twice, once to Austrian second division outfit FC Liefering and another time to FC Zürich in Switzerland. Cardiff purchased Simic from Salzburg for €2m in August 2024, immediately loaning him out to Belgian outfit KV Kortrijk. Advertisement A premature termination of the loan did enable Simic to make two Premier League Cup appearances for the Cardiff reserves in the current 2025 calendar year, but the Welsh side had no real use for him despite their relegation from the EFL Championship to League One. In the past, German clubs Hamburger SV and VfL Bochum have been linked with a move for him. reports that the KSC have secured a purchase option as part of the deal. GGFN | Peter Weis

I always love the fun and adrenaline of a racing film. Today marks two racing milestones for my friend Jerry Bruckheimer, the release of F1 and the 35 year anniversary to the day of our collaboration with the great Tony Scott on Days of Thunder. 1/7 — Tom Cruise (@TomCruise) June 27, 2025 While Cruise congratulated the crew of F1, former NASCAR driver and chairman of Hendrick Motorsports, Jeff Gordon, suggested there will be a sequel to Days of Thunder starring Cruise. Gordon believes NASCAR needs a Hollywood boost to expand its reach to the masses. Considering the rise of streaming platforms, Gordon emphasized that this is the right time to produce Days of Thunder 2. Newsweek Sports reported his comments: "Let's do Days of Thunder 2, I am all for that. Tom Cruise has told me it's gonna happen, so let's make it happen. I can't go back to driving, I am too old for that, so gonna have to be one of our four or all four of our Hendrick drivers, Alex Bowman, Chase Elliott, Kyle Larson, William Byron. When I came into NASCAR, Days of Thunder had just come out. It played a huge role in the growth of NASCAR. So let's bring it back." He added: "I've absolutely talked to Tom about it because I want him to do the project, and we want to be a part of it if it were to happen." Explaining why this is the perfect time to work on a NASCAR-based movie, he said: "There's this kind of resurgence, which is awesome, and there's also a whole new landscape of opportunities with streaming services and docuseries and also the big screen, which I think it would be amazing to do. "I am seeing just a lot more momentum in projects like this coming through NASCAR and coming to Hendrick Motorsports and just more interest. So that's good, right? It talks a lot about where the sport is at, where it's heading, the amazing crowd that was [at Daytona], not just today, new TV partners."
