California updates LA wildfire website to connect victims with services
California updated its Los Angeles wildfire website on Monday to help victims find resources as thousands continue to recover from the disasters.
"We're moving faster than ever to ensure survivors of these firestorms have all the resources they need to recover," Gov. Gavin Newsom said. "And for the first time, survivors can access all the services available at in-person centers completely online."
The new dashboard features a tool that helps individuals and businesses find state and federal resources, including housing, individual assistance, personal document replacement, employment and other services. The website will also track recovery efforts including data surrounding the number of people helped, debris removal and air quality.
"Not only that – we're now tracking recovery efforts in real-time to hold ourselves and all levels of government accountable for delivering for Angelenos," Newsom said.
The ca.gov/LAfires website launched days after the Palisades and Eaton Fires started. The Governor's Office said the page has had over 550,000 visits since it launched.
"The outcome of this was solely focused on how to get survivors what they need, and the team was laser-focused on making the new site work for them," said Amy Tong, the Government Operations Agency Secretary.

Governor Stitt names Interim Commissioner of ODMHSAS
OKLAHOMA CITY (KFOR) – Governor Kevin Stitt has named an Interim Commissioner of Oklahoma Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services (ODMHSAS). According to the Governor's Office, retired Rear Admiral Gregory Slavonic has been chosen after the Senate and House voted to remove former commissioner Allie Friesen following various budget issues. There are brighter days ahead for this department and those that rely on its services. I'm grateful to Admiral Slavonic for his willingness to set another Oklahoma agency on the right course.' Officials say Admiral Slavonic has served as director for the Oklahoma Department of Veterans Affairs under Stitt. California Governor and Los Angeles Mayor Call for Action Against Anti-Semitism
California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass have called for action to address anti-Semitism in the state after the recent attack targeting the Jewish community in Boulder, Colorado. Save the Dogs of Skid Row
The abused and neglected dogs of skid row need our help! I'm Tomi Lahren, more next. I've been working with several LA area animal rescues to bring awareness to and ultimately END the abuse and neglect of dogs on Skid Row. Not only are the dogs living on Skid Row subjected to daily animal abuse at the hands of drug addicted homeless people, I am particularly distraught by images of pit bulls locked in wire crates under tarps in the California summer heat, in total darkness with no food or water. This treatment is against the law in LA, but you'll be shocked to know the enforcement, especially on Skid Row, is light to none. The police have been called, LA animal control has been called. Nothing has been done. These encampments in LA are a free-for-all. The homeless do whatever they want and get away with dang near anything, including this animal abuse. Governor Newsom said he's gonna crack down on encampments but there's no enforcement mechanism behind his words. I am so sick and tired of the homeless getting away with everything in LA. It's a free-for-all and it needs to end. A protest is planned on Skid Row on June 8th at 11am to demand city action to protect these innocent dogs being ABUSED in plain sight.
