Kyle Sandilands calls radio rival Jase Hawkins a 'little sidekick b***h' as he reveals his first paycheck was because of him: 'You got fired because your show was s***'
Kyle Sandilands took a swipe at radio rival Jase Hawkins on Wednesday morning, calling his former assistant a 'little sidekick b***h'.
The KIIS FM star, 53, whose multimillion dollar radio deal put Jase, 43, and his co-host Lauren Phillips out of a job last year, revealed details about how the pair first met.
Kyle said Jase, who was once known professionally as Labby, got his first paycheck because of him and was treated like a 'slave' early on in his career.
'Jase Hawkins, who we used to call Labby, but he wanted his own name up in lights... He was a great little b***h around here, a little sidekick b***h,' Kyle said.
'And I met him when he was 16 in Brisbane, he's not even from Melbourne.'
'How did you guys meet?' co-host Jackie 'O' Henderson asked.
'Well, I started working at Triple M in Brisbane at the night show and he just started as like an assistant to me after the assistant on the show,' Kyle explained.
'He was just answering phones and cutting up things and splicing up tapes... I actually thought he was employed there and I treated him like a slave.
'Until I realised he was volunteering. That's when I felt bad and I made sure he got paid, so his first paycheck was thanks to me, but he was a great little worker.
'I moved to Sydney and then I moved him cause he was a great little worker. So I brought him to Sydney as well and he lived with me for a few years.'
Kyle then went on to note Jase's various gigs in radio following their time together, saying he was a fame w***e.
'Then he wanted to be the big fame w***e himself and he went up to Brisbane, failed. Then went to Melbourne, worked for KIIS, failed,' Kyle said.
Jase co-hosted the successful Labby, Stav & Abby on B105 in Brisbane and also worked with Kyle and Jackie, 50, at 2DAY FM, hosting the Hot30 Countdown.
However, Jackie went on to note Kyle failed to mention Jase was also a success over in New Zealand where he hosted Jase & PJ with Polly Harding.
The KIIS FM star, whose multimillion dollar radio deal with Jackie 'O' Henderson put Jase and his co-host Lauren Phillips out of a job last year, revealed details about how the pair first met
'Oh, well, no one knows New Zealand. It's still failure in Australia but people in America would go, "Oh successful in Australia is not really successful,"' Kyle said.
'Anyway, the guy finally got a run and has had some success in Melbourne and he's very good, don't get me wrong, I don't not like the guy.
'But, you know, really he's had success because of the woe is me campaign that they run down there. "Oh, we got fired." You got fired because the show was s***.'
Jase and his co-host Lauren, 42, are currently making it big at Nova and embroiled in a ratings war with Kyle and Jackie in Melbourne.
The pair defected to Nova after KIIS axed their morning show to make way for The Kyle & Jackie O Show's multimillion dollar expansion into the Victorian capital.
'We've just got to do our own thing. Let everyone else get caught up in the drama and s*** and we'll keep doing us and having fun,' Jase told Daily Mail Australia last year.
Jase and Lauren, who spoke while at the ACRA Awards, also said they were thrilled their program was rating so well in Melbourne.
'It's a blessing in disguise. It's been a year where our heads are spinning,' Jase said.
'The show didn't changed when we moved to Nova, but we feel more accepted there. It's been the best,' he continued.
'We've definitely felt the support of Melbourne, which has been really nice,' Lauren added.
'I think back to last year's awards when we were feeling so uncomfortable and so unsure of what our future was. We sat at the very back table over there,' she said.
'We're really chuffed with the nomination tonight.
'Not just for us, but we've got our whole team here tonight. Quite a few of them have come over to Nova with us so they've been on this roller coaster with us.'
The two teams have been battling it out in the Melbourne market with Nova's Jase & Lauren soundly beating The Kyle & Jackie O Show in the ratings.
However, this year could be a turning point as the KIIS FM show has been steadily gaining the market share in recent surveys while Jase & Lauren are dropping.

Entering the Space-out competition: I tried to be the best at doing nothing – but my opponent had a secret weapon
I am someone who finds it extraordinarily difficult to sit still or be quiet. On one family road trip, my mother challenged me not to speak for 20 minutes, with a prize of $100 for my efforts. I lasted approximately 30 seconds. My ADHD diagnosis at 32 was the natural progression of my life. The Space-out competition, held in Melbourne on Monday, was the ultimate test of whether I could fight my own nature and embrace nothingness. Created by South Korean artist Woopsyang as a response to her own experience of burnout, the competition has been running for more than a decade around the world with a simple proposition: a mini-city of competitors, all dressed as their jobs, sit in a public space doing absolutely nothing for 90 minutes. Laughing, chatting, using technology or falling asleep results in disqualification – 'lifeguards' patrol around monitoring everyone's activity, or lack thereof. A large yellow card is a warning, and a red one is a disqualification. Participants can raise smaller coloured cards to ask for warmth, water, a massage or to exit the competition. Every 15 minutes, 'doctors' measure participants' heart rates. The watching crowds vote on their favourite competitor, which, when combined with the heart rate measurement, determines the overall winner. Sign up for the fun stuff with our rundown of must-reads, pop culture and tips for the weekend, every Saturday morning Because I am a self-respecting journalist, my outfit is a fedora adorned with a card reading PRESS. My competitors include an actual dog, an elderly man (who turns out to be the oldest-ever participant in the competition), a woman sitting in a tub with a functioning fountain on her head, a Teletubby, a chef (with a Ratatouille toy on their head) and a bunch of young kids. We're all invited to write our reasons for participating on a board the public can read and vote on. The answers range from earnest to silly. 'To calm my nervous system,' one reads. 'I'm extremely unemployed,' reads another. Woopsyang comes to the stage, wearing the traditional male Korean ceremonial garb, including the wide-brimmed gat, and makes a speech via an unfurling ribbon. 'Sometimes doing nothing can be the most powerful and valuable act,' it reads. We participate in stretching and aerobic exercises before sitting on our mats. The timer begins. Out of the corner of my eye, I can see my partner taking photos of me, but I try to ignore him and focus on a fixed point in front of me. I try not to move. I'm desperate to get up, to shake my limbs, but I keep sitting. My mind is not blank, but I try to engage the meditation techniques my Buddhist mother taught me. I can hear comedian commentators Harry Jun and Oliver Coleman telling the crowd that the young boys left the competition 20 minutes in, that warnings have already begun to be handed out, that someone's ice-cream has melted. I want to look around, but I can't. I can hear the public around me. I feel like an animal in a zoo. The only marker of time is when a doctor approaches to measure my heart rate; I'm surprised to find the 15-minute increments feel shorter every time. Each time a doctor comes over, I know I'm closer to my goal – and my heart rate is steadily decreasing. I'm in the zone, baby. I raise my blue card once to ask for water, and my yellow one once for warmth, which turns out to be a small sock with a heat bag in it (not useful!). But after a while, doing nothing becomes quite pleasant. My mind is still not quite blank but I enter a liminal state. The sound of the crowd has become white noise. When the final whistle is blown, I'm shocked that it has been an hour and a half. I could happily have sat and done nothing for much longer. Alas, I do not place – the fountain lady, who admits that the trickling water in her costume was designed to make her fellow contestants need to pee, is declared the winner. I find out later via Instagram that she's been working on the costume for months, unlike mine, which I made in about two minutes. She deserves the win. But winning is kind of beside the point of the Space-out competition. I proudly tell my family that I managed to sit still and be quiet for 90 minutes straight in public. I won't get $100 from my mum for this but I finally won the bet, after all.

Abbie Chatfield hits back at troll who calls her mentally unwell and says she needs medication
Abbie Chatfield has taken to social media to slam a troll who claims the high-profile influencer is mentally 'unwell'. The 29-year-old Bachelor star shared the vile slur to her stories on Tuesday and did not censor her attackers name or image. 'I suggest you ask you doctor to write you a prescription for [antipsychotic medication] Seroquel - you appear to be an emotional wreck,' the person began. 'Watching you on television crying and ranting about nothing,' they continued, adding, 'mental illness is questionable perhaps [sedative] Xanax and intensive therapy would help.' Abbie, who has been applauded by fans for her courageous and her raw posts shared the appalling comments and added her clapback. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. 'Easiest way to discredit a woman who cares about social/political issues is to say she's mentally unwell Imao,' the outspoken social media star said. It comes after Abbie recently hit back at critics who dismiss her success as an 'influencer', insisting it takes more than a pretty face and a few selfies to build a loyal following. Abbie opened up about the criticism with Stellar magazine about the work that goes into her career and her blossoming romance with DJ boyfriend Adam Hyde. The It's A Lot podcast host said she's tired of the term 'influencer' being used to discredit powerful women online. 'Why do we have to work ourselves to the bone to prove that we're worthy of having a platform or having a voice?' she said, adding that the content creation industry is far more demanding than it appears. She also slammed the suggestion that influencing isn't a real job, revealing that the Australian Tax Office would beg to differ. 'The ATO thinks it is – they're on my back all the time,' she quipped. Abbie explained that while male public figures are celebrated for juggling multiple careers, women are often seen as 'inept' if they attempt the same. She cited high-profile business figures are never labelled influencers despite having similar public platforms. The TV personality also opened up about her relationship with Peking Duk star Adam Hyde, revealing the couple recently moved in together after dating for over a year. Calling the romance 'healthy' and 'genuinely beneficial,' she said it's changed her entire outlook on love and what she wants in a partner. 'If I was going to get married and have kids with anyone, it would be Adam,' she shared. Reflecting on her past, Abbie admitted she now recognises how unhealthy some of her previous relationships were – and that being with Adam has set a new standard. 'I either need to be alone or be with Adam,' she declared. 'Those are kind of my two options at this point.' The media star turns 30 this month and said she feels empowered by ageing, not scared. She's excited about what her next chapter holds - both personally and professionally. Elsewhere in the interview, Abbie addressed her public fallout with feminist writer Clementine Ford, saying the experience was deeply hurtful. The feud began after Ford accused her of profiting from performative political engagement and criticised her interview with Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. Abbie responded on social media, which triggered a wave of backlash from right-wing commentators who reduced the clash to a 'catfight' between feminists. While Abbie didn't blame Ford directly for that reaction, she suggested Ford should have considered how her comments might fuel sexist narratives. Abbie also noted she has often held back from criticising other women publicly to avoid similar outcomes.

EXCLUSIVE Heartbreaking new detail emerges about the TV presenter allegedly gunned down with his lover by his cop ex-boyfriend: 'Dream come true'
The TV presenter who was allegedly murdered with his partner by his cop ex-lover had just landed his 'dream job' in the days before he died. Former NSW Police officer Beau Lamarre-Condon, 29, is accused of shooting dead Jesse Baird, 26, and Qantas flight attendant Luke Davies, 29, at Paddington in Sydney 's eastern suburbs in February 2024. But Daily Mail Australia can now reveal Jesse had just accepted a new role as producer on reality series The Real Housewives of Sydney ahead of its third season, and was due to start in March last year. 'He had just signed on in January,' said Jesse's friend and former colleague, showbiz reporter Craig Bennett. 'He was ever so excited about it because he loved the show.' Jesse had previously worked worked as a presenter and reporter on Network 10's Studio 10, Totally Wild and Gamify, and was an AFL goal umpire. 'He'd been let go by Network 10 when Studio 10 was axed in November 2023,' Craig said. 'But Jesse was great on camera, but also an accomplished producer, and he was immeasurably excited about this new frontier on Housewives. 'He never got to see that dream realised. He would have gone a long way in reality television.' Jesse had produced Studio 10 segments involving Craig and TV doyenne Denise Drysdale - and Craig joked that after wrangling 'two divas like us', a cast of Sydney housewives would have been a walk in the park. 'Denise is not morning person, but when she was working with Jesse she just melted,' he recalled. 'He would have taken to Real Housewives life like a duck to water.' This comes as Daily Mail Australia reported Lamarre-Condon has offered to reveal new details about the case to investigators and prosecutors. The 29-year-old has not entered pleas to two counts of murder but says he has information about a second person he claims helped dump Mr Davies and Mr Baird's remains, according to a source close to Lamarre-Condon. 'Lamarre-Condon wants to do the right thing for the families and is happy to assist investigators with information about who else played a part in the incident,' the source claimed. 'So far both the DPP and the officer in charge have failed to reply to the offer made by Lamarre's legal team for assistance.' The source claimed that a witness had told investigators they had waited at the fence line of the Bungonia property where the bodies were first dumped for 15 to 20 minutes. Phone records indicated Lamarre-Condon and the witness were at the farm for almost two hours, the source claimed. Police also located two sets of white overalls at the scene where bodies were located which indicates it was a two-person job,' the source said. A NSW Police spokeswoman said: 'As this matter is before the court, we are unable to comment.' A spokeswoman for the DPP said the same thing. Lamarre-Condon has spent more than a year in prison since the shootings, which were allegedly the result of a months-long campaign of 'predatory behaviour' targeting Mr Baird. The onetime celebrity chaser reportedly briefly dated Mr Baird before the TV presenter began a relationship with Mr Davies. Suspicions of foul play were raised after possessions belonging to the dead men were found in a skip bin in the southern Sydney suburb of Cronulla, leading police to Mr Baird's blood-smeared terrace. The case returned to Downing Centre Local Court last month after confidential discussions between prosecutors and the alleged killer's Legal Aid lawyer Alex Curnick. Both sides agreed 'things are progressing,' magistrate Megan Greenwood was told. A forensic psychiatrist's report was also tendered after Lamarre-Condon was assessed in previous weeks. Lamarre-Condon has not entered pleas to two counts of domestic violence-related murder, and one count of break and enter with intent to commit an indictable offence. He was sacked by the NSW Police Force in March 2024. Lamarre-Condon joined the force in 2019 and previously ran a celebrity blog, posing in photos with dozens of A-listers including Taylor Swift, Selena Gomez, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Harry Styles.
