How to bag a bargain
SUN Savers Editor Lana Clements explains how to find a cut-price item and bag a bargain…
Sign up to loyalty schemes of the brands that you regularly shop with.
Big names regularly offer discounts or special lower prices for members, among other perks.
Sales are when you can pick up a real steal.
Retailers usually have periodic promotions that tie into payday at the end of the month or Bank Holiday weekends, so keep a lookout and shop when these deals are on.
Sign up to mailing lists and you'll also be first to know of special offers. It can be worth following retailers on social media too.
When buying online, always do a search for money off codes or vouchers that you can use vouchercodes.co.uk and myvouchercodes.co.uk are just two sites that round up promotions by retailer.
Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.
Bargain hunters can also use B&M's scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.
And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you'll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.

Dunelm is a selling a ‘garden must-have' for 30% less – it's perfect for al-fresco summer evenings

A chimenea has been reduced at Dunelm as part of a summer sale on outdoor products. This affordable garden addition now has 30% off, with the price slashed from £75 to just £52.50. 1 Dunelm Steel Chimenea £52.50 (was £75) BUY FROM DUNELM Hot temperatures have reached the UK this week, and if you're hoping to soak up the sun until as late in the day as possible, you may want to kit out your garden in preparation. With the heatwave that's coming up, the nicest time to sit in the garden may well be the evening when it gets cooler. But evenings can still get a little chilly, so sometimes added warmth is needed - which is where this Dunelm deal comes in. Similar to a firepit, a chimenea helps add heat to an outdoor area, with the only difference being the shape. The taller design directs smoke upwards, and sparks are more contained, so it could be a safer alternative to an open firepit - that does also mean that the heat spreads less, so it's best suited to smaller areas. Not only could this bargain chimenea come in handy post-BBQ when temperatures drop, but it also helps add a cosy atmosphere to a corner of the garden. Dunelm's is made out of steel and comes with a poker to safely rearrange the coals. The sale deal is part of a wider Dunelm price cut of up to 50% off across hundreds of garden items, including furniture, ornaments and BBQ accessories. There's not too long left to shop though, as the sale comes to an end at midnight on Sunday (22nd June). It's a good time to shop too, with most of the summer still ahead of us, plus this heatwave hopefully won't be the last. Dunelm shoppers are leaving their praise for the chimenea online, with one calling it ''brilliant'', adding that it's ''effective and easy to assemble''. Another happy shopper hailed it: ''A garden must-have''. While a third was just as positive, writing: ''Worth the money, easy to assemble and provides a good heat.'' If you want to keep relaxing on the patio once the sun sets, it's also worth knowing about the best solar lights for the garden you can buy. Now summer is well and truly here, there's no more time to put off tackling your hedges and foliage, and the GTech Hedge Trimmer has £70 off right now. Buy Sheds Direct has reduced a 6 x 4-inch shed to under £300. pair of patio palms, which are half price at Gardening Express.

Major network TRIPLES data on its SIM-only plans – get 300GB for just £20p/m

THOSE of you considering switching networks have a brilliant opportunity to upgrade your SIM plan. Voxi is currently offering an incredible deal, with its 100GB SIM-only plan tripling to 300GB for just £20 a month. 1 Voxi, 100GB 300GB data for £20/month (Unlimited social, music, and video use) BUY FROM VOXI I keep a close eye on SIM-only deals, and this one from Voxi is easily one of the best to land in a while. Instead of cutting prices, Voxi has taken a different approach, tripling the data on two of its most popular plans, without raising the monthly cost. Deals like this offer serious value, especially if you're after more data without spending more. For heavier users, the 300GB plan at £20 a month strikes a great balance between generous data and solid value. It's a smart pick if you burn through gigabytes streaming, scrolling, or gaming, but don't quite need to pay the premium for unlimited. If you're after something lighter, the 25GB plan has also been bumped up to 75GB for just £12 per month, a great option for more moderate users. One of the deal clinchers is that many of Voxi's plans come with data-free use of social media, music, or video apps. This means you can spend hours scrolling through TikTok, streaming Spotify, or bingeing on Netflix without worrying about eating into your data. If you're not a heavy user but want plenty of data to play with, Voxi is a network worth considering. And since Voxi runs on Vodafone's network, you can expect reliable coverage wherever you are. Like many smaller SIM providers, Voxi piggybacks on the Vodafone network, which recently joined forces with Three, making the network stronger than ever. It's always worth checking your area with Voxi's coverage map, so you can be confident of a strong connection before signing up. Best Voxi SIM-only deals Voxi have a selection of SIM-only plans for every kind of data user, many of which either come with free social, music, or video use. Voxi's SIM-only plans run on rolling 1-month contracts, so there's no long-term commitment. You can switch or cancel at any time, which is ideal if you like to keep your options open. These boosted deals are currently set to end on July 17th, so there's only a limited window to lock in the savings. It's shaping up to be a strong month for savvy SIM shoppers, too. I've spotted a similar Smarty double data SIM-only deal, offering 200GB for just £12 per month, and shares the same network coverage. If you're eyeing a new handset instead, there are some tempting Android offers floating around. One major provider is throwing in a free tech bundle worth £410 when you grab the latest Honor phone, with plans starting from £20 a month. I've pulled together a full roundup of the best SIM-only deals across all the major networks, so you can find the right plan for your budget.

The Senedd passes a ban on plastic wet wipes

From December 18, 2026, it will be an offence in Wales to supply – or offer to supply – wet wipes containing plastic after the Senedd unanimously agreed regulations. Huw Irranca-Davies, deputy first minister of Wales, said: 'There should be no place for wet wipes amongst the pebbles and the sand and the seaweed on our beautiful Welsh coastline. Mr Irranca-Davies, whose responsibilities include the environment, said a survey found 22 per cent of people admitted to having flushed wet wipes into the sewerage system. He warned a large volume of wet wipes – which often contain harmful plastic – enter the natural environment due to inappropriate disposal. He stressed an exemption will be in place if they are designed or manufactured for care and treatment because some people rely on medical-grade wet wipes that contain plastic. He explained that the regulations, which were passed by Senedd members on June 17, add plastic wet wipes to a 2023 law prohibiting a list of single-use plastic products. Mr Irranca-Davies said: 'This pollution, as we all know, is visible, its impact is tangible, and it's long-lasting. Taking decisive action will encourage manufacturers, retailers and consumers of the need to continue our shift towards reusable and non-plastic products.' He told Senedd members the ban will not extend to business-to-business supply, only covering supply to consumers as with other single-use plastics. 'Wet wipes for specific industrial use, where plastic-free alternatives are unsuitable or do not exist, are not included,' he said. 'But we will encourage these sectors to innovate.' The UK-turned-Welsh minister told the Senedd banning single use products is part of an ongoing drive to reduce the damage caused by microplastic pollution. The Conservatives' Janet Finch-Saunders said: 'It's not often that I say this but thank you very, very much… for bringing forward your statement today and indeed this ban.' Mr Irranca-Davies said the 18-month transition period will allow manufacturers time to adapt their business as he welcomed the cross-party support for the ban.
