The Buckeyes ran the table in the College Football Playoff after losing to the Michigan Wolverines to end the regular season.
They're a top favorite to go back-to-back this upcoming season, but will have stiff competition. According to ESPN's FPI, the Texas Longhorns and the Buckeyes are projected to have the country's most wins (10.4).

The Longhorns will turn to Arch Manning at quarterback for the 2025 season after he sat behind Quinn Ewers for the previous two seasons. Ewers led the Longhorns to the CFP in back-to-back seasons before being selected by the Miami Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Despite sitting behind Ewers for two seasons, Manning still got some playing time, especially during the 2024 season. He played in 10 games, finishing with 939 yards through the air, nine touchdowns, and two interceptions.
He will get the start when the Longhorns open the 2025 season in Columbus against the Buckeyes on August 30. College GameDay will also be present for that contest.
The Longhorns will also return other key players, including linebacker Anthony Hill Jr., edge rusher Collin Simmons, and running back CJ Baxter. Baxter missed the entire 2024 campaign with a torn ACL and LCL in his right knee but was productive in 2023, finishing with 659 rushing yards and five touchdowns off 138 carries.
Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian will be in his fifth season as head coach when the 2025 season starts in August. He has compiled a 38-17 overall record in his first four seasons at the helm.

Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark is coming off a game in which she went for 32 points, eight rebounds and nine assists. In doing so, she became the fourth fastest player in WNBA history to reach 850 points. Advertisement It's clear the reigning Rookie of the Year is worth every penny when it comes to endorsement deals from brands. Back in 2024, Wilson Basketball signed a multi-year deal with Clark, making her the first athlete since NBA legend Michael Jordan to receive a signature ball series. And on Sunday, Wilson began rolling out season No. 2 with the "Envision Ball." Monday brought another announcement, as the brand showcased "Aspire." "Aspire / The dream big, play bigger basketball," Wilson Basketball wrote. "Available June 23rd, as part of the Caitlin Clark Signature Series. Tap the link in bio to learn more." Following the announcement, Clark took to social media to simply reshare Wilson's post with no words. More are expected in the coming days. Advertisement Back in April 2024, Clark said having her own collection was "surreal." "Wilson has been with me across some of the most pivotal moments in my career so far, and I couldn't be more excited to continue driving basketball forward alongside them," Clark said. "It feels surreal to have my own basketball collection, and to affect what that means for future generations of athletes." Meanwhile, Clark and the Fever are preparing to host the Connecticut Sun for the second time in 2025 on Tuesday night. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on NBA TV. Thunder's Jalen Williams Sends Clear Message After Historic Game

Thunder's Jalen Williams Sends Clear Message After Historic Game originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Oklahoma City Thunder had to huff and puff to tie this year's NBA Finals against the Indiana Pacers at two games apiece. In Game 5 on Monday, they once again had to work and sweat, but they're now one win away from a world championship. Advertisement They got out to a big lead, and although the Pacers made their customary late run, Oklahoma City held on for a 120-109 victory. It can clinch the Larry O'Brien Trophy on Thursday when Game 6 takes place at Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Rising star wing Jalen Williams was arguably the player of the game with 40 points on 14-of-25 shooting. He said afterward that the job isn't done yet. "You don't just trip into the finals," he said. "They're really good at doing the same thing we do — staying the course — and we have to stay the course as well during their runs and we did a good job of that." Williams has emerged as a borderline star for the Thunder, but lately, he has gone beyond the level of play he achieved during the regular season. He scored 26 points in Game 3 and 27 in Game 4, and he has also provided some secondary playmaking for his squad. Oklahoma City Thunder forward Jalen Williams drives to the basket against Indiana Pacers forward Pascal Siakam at Paycom Adams-Imagn Images In doing so, he became only the fifth player in the last 40 years to score at least 25 points in three straight NBA Finals games before turning 25 years of age. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, this year's regular-season MVP, had 31 points and 10 assists on Monday, but as stellar as he and Williams were, it was the Thunder's defense that secured this win. Advertisement They blocked 12 shots and forced 23 turnovers, which they turned into 32 points. In doing so, they continued to prove that their team defense is one of the best the league has seen in recent memory.
