PM Anwar Bids Farewell To German Envoy, Emphasises Sustainable Ties
KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today reaffirmed Malaysia's commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Germany, particularly in the areas of economy, education and culture.
During a farewell courtesy call by German Ambassador to Malaysia, Dr Peter Blomeyer, at his office in Putrajaya, Anwar said that comprehensive ties between both nations are expected to further deepen people-to-people connections and contribute to sustainable shared progress.
'In addition to expanding trade and investment opportunities, cooperation in education, including Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), as well as cultural exchanges, can foster mutual understanding and appreciation of diversity,' he said in a post on his official Facebook page.

Asean urged to infuse gender lens in human rights agenda
KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Asean must step up its efforts to incorporate gender perspectives into the business and human rights agenda to ensure inclusive regional development. Malaysia's Representative to the Asean Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Edmund Bon Tai Soon said while Asean has progressed in promoting gender equality, the women across the region still face structural barriers that prevent their full participation in decision making and economic life. "Business and human rights are not solely about trade regulations or governance, but it impacts people especially women and girls, and those from vulnerable and marginalised communities whose voices have often been excluded from decision-making. "These barriers remain deeply entrenched in our societies and too often, business structures and practices appear gender-neutral, but continue to reinforce inequality in effect,' he said in his remarks at the Regional Workshop on Gender Lens Perspective on Business and Human Rights in Asean here on Monday. He emphasised that gender discrimination in business settings remains both a cause and a consequence of broader inequality, particularly for women and girls, and should be recognised as a form of violence. "We see on our TV screens, we see in the media, news about war and genocides, that is actual violence, that is physical violence, that is something that we are against. "But structural and cultural discrimination is also a form of violence, and I think that is something that we need to localise,' he said. Bon added that Asean must ensure its frameworks reflect the lived realities of women and girls in line with international standards such as the United Nations Guiding Principles (UNGPs) on Business and Human Rights. "As global standards such as the UNGPs continue to shape international expectations and up-and-coming regulations to reflect, Asean must also evolve to ensure that our frameworks reflect the lived realities of women and girls in our region and that they are not treated as an afterthought in economic growth,' he said. The two-day regional workshop, held in Kuala Lumpur from 30 June to 1 July, aimed to explore how a regional gender lens framework can help address gender-based barriers, tackle structural and cultural discrimination, and enhance the protection of the human rights of women and girls. It was jointly supported by Asean Member States through the AICHR Fund, the Government of Japan via the Japan-Asean Integration Fund (JAIF), and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), in collaboration with relevant Malaysian ministries and agencies, as well as the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM). - Bernama

Prasarana Ink MoU With Takaful Ikhlas To Provide Protection For Employees
GENERAL KUALA LUMPUR, June 30 (Bernama) -- Takaful Ikhlas Family Berhad (Takaful IKHLAS) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with three entities under Prasarana Malaysia Berhad with the aim of making Takaful IKHLAS the preferred Takaful protection provider for the members of the involved employee unions. Takaful IKHLAS President, Wan Ahmad Najib Wan Ahmad Lotfi, stated that the three employee entities involved are the Rapid Bus Sdn Bhd Employees Union, the Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd Employees Union, and the Prasarana (M) Bhd Employees Cooperative. He added that this collaboration will give union members access to quality and affordable Takaful protection, aligning with their needs for improved employee community welfare. "Takaful IKHLAS is truly honored to be part of this initiative and appreciates the trust placed in us to provide the best Takaful protection for their members," he said when met at the MoU signing ceremony here today. He said through this collaboration, union and cooperative members will be offered the IKHLAS Idaman Plan, a comprehensive and flexible family Takaful protection plan that combines elements of savings and protection suited to current needs. In line with Takaful IKHLAS' commitment to increase Takaful awareness and penetration rates among the working community, Wan Ahmad Najib said the IKHLAS Idaman Plan comes with unique advantages, such as immediate full benefit payments to beneficiaries. "Members only need to pay as low as RM33 per month, which includes a full benefit payment to beneficiaries of RM35,000 for natural death or total and permanent disability due to natural causes. "Meanwhile, RM70,000 for accidental death, and a daily hospital allowance of RM36 per day, as well as a death benefit of RM2,000," he explained. Wan Ahmad Najib stated that the plan also provides a Personal Investment Account, allowing certificate holders to receive maturity benefits or make partial cash withdrawals after the maturity period.
