Himatrix launches key phase of Dubai Industrial City R&D unit
Himatrix Group, a leading industrial equipment supplier in Dubai, has inaugurated the first phase of its application lab, research, and training centre at Dubai Industrial City. Spanning 45,000 sq ft, the key facility will support its 100-strong workforce.
Spanning 45,000 sq ft, the facility at Dubai Industrial City, part of Tecom Group, will support Himatrix Group's vision for growth and expansion during 2024 in regional and international markets by leveraging the district's strategic geographic location and links to regional and global transportation hubs, including Jebel Ali seaport, Al Maktoum International Airport, intra-regional highway networks and soon, an Etihad Rail freight terminal.
Himatrix Group is the parent company of entities including Himatrix Measurements Equipment's, Himatrix Measurement Laboratory, Matrix Packing Materials Manufacturing, and Icpro Technologies.
With state-of-the-art technology installed at the facility, the new hub is designed to accommodate Himatrix Group's planned recruitment of additional specialists to support its 100-strong workforce, which will be based at the new centre.
"Industrialisation-led economic growth requires that manufacturers have access to an environment that not only encourages innovation but also empowers local production," said Saud Abu Alshawareb of Dubai Industrial City.
"Himatrix Group's inauguration at Dubai Industrial City is a testament to market confidence in our ecosystem, which embodies the goals of the Operation 300bn, Make it in the Emirates, and Dubai Economic Agenda 'D33' strategies to promote the manufacturing sector's expansion in the UAE and beyond," stated Alshawareb.
"Such specialised laboratories strengthen the industrial cycle that our ecosystem offers to its customers, and we welcome Himatrix Group to unlock opportunities and target further growth from its new base at our district," he added.
The company plans to expand its partnerships with global leaders in the field of instrumentation engineering, such as Radwag, Sciex, Ametek, Kruss and Wipotec, and present them with new technology opportunities, through the facility.

The report highlights a landmark year in advancing the UAE's foreign aid strategy, promoting global sustainable development, and empowering local industries to thrive on the international stage. With a legacy rooted in the vision of the UAE's Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, ADFD's work in 2024 supported strategic growth across 107 countries, aligning with key national initiatives like UAE Centennial 2071, Abu Dhabi Economic Vision 2030, and the UAE Export Development Policy. By the end of 2024, ADFD's cumulative development financing reached AED216.5bn ($59bn): AED157bn ($42.7bn) in concessional loans AED57.6bn ($15.7bn) in government grants AED1.9bn ($516m) in direct contributions Abu Dhabi Fund for Development These funds supported transformational projects in renewable energy, education, infrastructure, water security, transportation, technology, and housing—all aimed at uplifting partner nations and advancing the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ADFD continued to champion the national economy, with the Abu Dhabi Exports Office (ADEX) allocating AED4bn ($1.1bn) in financing to support UAE exports to over 40 global markets. Additionally, AED6bn ($1.6bn) was earmarked to help 19 Emirati companies deliver vital projects across eight countries, boosting local enterprise while expanding global influence. The Fund recorded AED12.2bn ($3.3bn) in total investments across 22 countries, currently supporting 17 companies in priority sectors. These investments are catalysing job creation and sustainable economic growth in emerging markets. ADFD's renewable energy work in the Pacific and Caribbean earned it the prestigious 2024 United Nations Small Island Developing States (SIDS) Partnerships Award—a first for any institution in the Middle East and North Africa. From Madinah to Mumbai: Dubai resident collaborates with Bollywood singer Shaan
Dubai-based poet Amaan Haider Zaidi is the lyricist of Shaan's debut Ghazal album which will be shared with music lovers across digital platforms on the auspicious day of Eid. From reluctantly reciting his Urdu poems for his colleagues on the office bus in the UAE to launching his first ghazal album with celebrated Indian singer Shaan in Mumbai, the incredible turnaround in Amaan Haider Zaidi's life seems like the script of a timeless Bollywood classic. Dubai-based poet Haider, who writes under the pen name Haider Amaan Haider, is the lyricist of Shaan's debut Ghazal album, Ghazal Ho Gayi, which was launched by Saregama, India's oldest music label, at the singer's Mumbai residence on May 4. 'The album has six ghazals and they will be released across digital platforms like YouTube and Spotify tomorrow (May 6),' Haider told the Khaleej Times over the phone from Mumbai. Haider, who is now the head of corporate affairs at VFS Global in Dubai, only discovered his flair for poetry in 2014 after a personal setback. 'I was working for RAK Bank those days. Something happened in my life which hit me so hard that I had to get help from a psychiatrist. There were so many things that came to my mind during that phase and I began to jot down some of my thoughts,' he recalled. Those thoughts soon translated into poetry that first resonated with his former RAK Bank colleagues before capturing the hearts of international cricketers, Indian diplomats in the UAE, acclaimed film director Shekhar Kapoor and Shaan, one of the finest singers in Bollywood music. 'It's amazing how I met Shaan. He came for the Dubai Expo where I was working at the Indian Pavilion. When I was introduced to him, I presented him a copy of my poetry book, Apni Amaan Main Rekhna,' Haider said. About a year later, Shaan called him from Mumbai, asking his permission to take six of his poems from the book for a ghazal album. 'I could not believe Shaan wanted me to be his lyricist. He loved my poems. I think what appealed to him was the simplicity in my writing. You know, Shaan is a very big celebrity in India, but he is also a very simple human being. His voice has taken my poetry to a different level,' Haider said. Having an album launched in Mumbai seems a bit surreal for the 44-year-old Haider, a late bloomer in the world of poetry. 'This is a dream for me. I cannot believe this is happening in my life. But if you ask my friends, I am still the same person who came from a very small village in Uttar Pradesh (India),' he said. 'I think it's all because of the prayers of my parents, my sisters and Allah's blessing.' For a man who has captivated audiences at symposiums in the US, UK, Australia, Kuwait, India, Afghanistan and the UAE, Haider's first experience of reciting his poetry was at the Prohet's Mosque in Madinah. 'I will never forget that day. I was on a pilgrimage and there was an event for Prophet Muhammad's birthday (PBUH), so I got an opportunity to recite my poems,' he said. 'As I said, everything happens for a reason. Now Shaan has turned my poems into Ghazals for his first album in the genre. The six ghazals will be shared with music lovers across digital platforms on the auspicious day of Eid (Friday). It's a big blessing in my life.'
