Get free doughnuts and deals all month as Krispy Kreme celebrates National Doughnut Day

Time Out3 days ago

Krispy Kreme is going all-in this June with 14 Days of Original Glazed, a two-week celebration of National Doughnut Day and the brand's 88th birthday.
It all kicks off on Thursday, June 6, a.k.a. National Doughnut Day. Walk into any participating shop or drive-thru and you can get a free doughnut of your choice, no strings attached. But why stop there? Buy any dozen, and you can add on a dozen Original Glazed for just $2. (In doughnut math, that's approximately 16-cents per treat, which is a pretty sweet deal—literally!)
But that's just day one. Starting Friday, June 7, the doughnut deals continue daily through Friday, June 20, the first official day of summer. Krispy Kreme Rewards members can pick up a dozen of the iconic Original Glazed for $9.99, just for being in the club (join free at krispykreme.com/rewards).
On Friday, June 13, Krispy Kreme makes the deals even sweeter: buy any dozen and get a dozen Original Glazed for just 13 cents.
Next up, it's the grand finale on June 20. In addition to the $2 dozen deal with a purchase, Krispy Kreme will surprise thousands of lucky fans nationwide with free doughnuts for a full year—that's one dozen Original Glazed every month from July 2025 to June 2026. Winners will be picked at random from customers visiting stores that day.
So if you're a doughnut fan, this is your moment. Grab a box (or three), bring some friends and celebrate 88 years of the Original Glazed—still going strong, and still ridiculously good.

Pret A Manger says it may consider stake sale ahead of possible flotation

The owner of Pret A Manger has said it could consider selling a stake in the sandwich chain ahead of a potential stock market flotation. Luxembourg-based JAB Holding – which bought Pret for £1.5 billion in 2018 – said while it was not 'currently' considering a stake sale in Pret, it could look at the move with an initial public offering (IPO) in its sights. A spokesperson for JAB, which also owns Krispy Kreme and Keurig Dr Pepper, said: 'As we move closer to a potential IPO, we may evaluate bringing on a pre-IPO investor.' It is thought to mark the first time Pret has publicly confirmed IPO plans for Pret. The news, which was first reported by the Financial Times, comes after it last month announced the appointment of hospitality industry stalwart Jose Cil as chairman of Pret's board. Mr Cil was most recently chief executive of Burger King owner Restaurant Brands International, which also owns chains including Popeyes. Pret recently announced it was dropping plans for a doubling of its current £5 monthly subscription for up to five coffees a day as it looks to retain customers against a difficult consumer spending backdrop. The group had previously told subscribers that their subscription would increase to £10 a month from March 31, when a '50% off' deal ended. It followed Pret overhauling its £360-a-year subscription in July last year in favour of 50% off up to five coffees a day for £10 a month. The chain also removed a 20% discount on food for subscribers to end dual pricing – 'something we never really got comfortable with', it said at the time. Under the old deal that lasted for almost four years, Club Pret membership offered up to five barista-made drinks daily for a monthly fee of £30. Pret is headed up by chief executive Pano Christou, who was promoted to the top job in 2019. The firm opened its first shop in London in 1986, where the company remains headquartered. It now has 700 shops worldwide with around 12,500 employees across 21 markets.

Krispy Kreme to give away free glazed doughnuts on June 6

The company wants to reclaim their title "as the OG of the glazed doughnut". Therefore, they are encouraging customers to bring 'Faux-G doughnuts' into a Krispy Kreme store, which they can "upgrade" to an original glazed doughnut for free. A "Faux-G doughnut" is defined as being a glazed doughnut from another shop that could be seen as an "inferior imitation". Customers will need to bring their "Faux-G doughnut" into a Krispy Kreme store or show proof of purchase (such as with a receipt) to claim their free original glazed doughnut on Friday, June 6. The offer will only be available for one day, with it being limited to one redemption per person. Guy Meakin, Krispy Kreme UK President, said: "They say imitation is the ultimate form of flattery, and we have seen many copies of our iconic doughnuts over the years. But we all know a dupe is rarely as good as the real thing. Nothing compares to the melt-in-your-mouth experience of a fresh Original Glazed. "This National Doughnut Day, we're inviting everyone to taste the difference and remind them that when it comes to doughnuts, there's only one OG. "We want doughnut fans to enjoy the best of the best, so turn your backs on the dupes and stick with the original. "We're excited to see the reactions as people upgrade their 'Faux-Gs' for the real deal." As part of the campaign, rapper Lady Leshurr has released her brand new single, Run This Glaze, which is a diss track playfully calling out 'imitators' of the Krispy Kreme glazed doughnuts. Krispy Kreme is an American company that was set up back in July 1937 by Vernon Rudolph. It started in North Carolina, seeing steady growth over the decades, with it opening its first store in the UK in October 2003. This original store was situated in the Harrods department store in London before it shut in 2011, with there now being 120 locations in the UK. Did Krispy Kreme change its name before? As part of an April Fool's Day campaign back in 2017, Krispy Kreme claimed they were going to change their name to 'Krispy Cream'. As reported by The Mirror, this was to avoid the issue of Brits not knowing whether to pronounce 'Kreme' as 'cream' or the more French-sounding 'crème'. Recommended reading: In the two years prior to this announcement, there had been over 30,000 independent tagged posts on social media spelling Krispy Kreme incorrectly. At the time, the company said after "much consideration", Krispy Kreme has taken the decision to rebrand in the UK and distance the UK franchise from its US counterpart. The Shannon Corner store in London did actually roll out a store rebrand to try and sell this, before it was eventually revealed as a joke.
