Disney Theme Park Announced For Yas Island Abu Dhabi
The most magical kingdom is set to open on Yas Island Waterfront
His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Executive Council, have announced a partnership that will see The Walt Disney Company open a new Disney theme park on Yas Island.
The park will open on Yas Island waterfront, perfectly located as a hub for major tourism markets across the Middle East, Africa, India, Asia and Europe. This project will become Disney's seventh theme park destination worldwide, following its parks in California, Florida, Tokyo, Paris, Hong Kong and Shanghai.
His Excellency Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, Chairman of Miral, said: 'Abu Dhabi stands as a unique model where authentic heritage meets a bold vision for the future, where we preserve our past while laying solid foundations for a promising tomorrow. The collaboration between Abu Dhabi and Disney demonstrates the remarkable results of combining visionary leadership and creative excellence,' he explained. 'What we are creating with Disney in Abu Dhabi is a whole new world of imagination — an experience that will inspire generations across the region and the world, creating magical moments and memories that families will treasure forever. Through the development of unique attractions and experiences, Abu Dhabi continues to reinforce its position as a leading global destination for cultural and family tourism.'
Miral will oversee the full development and construction of the new resort, while Disney will spearhead the creative design, attraction development, and operational leadership to deliver a world-class guest experience. Bob Iger, Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company said: 'This is an extraordinary opportunity for Disney to bring its renowned storytelling to yet another region of the world with a completely new theme park experience that will be a cultural, entertainment and technological marvel.'
While there is no official date confirmed for the project build or indeed its big reveal, we're certain that there will be plenty of fans young and old waiting with baited breath—get your mouse ears at the ready.

AD Ports Group opens Tbilisi Intermodal Hub
UAE - AD Ports Group, an enabler of integrated trade, transport and logistics solutions, has announced the inauguration of the first phase of Tbilisi Intermodal Hub, Georgia's first modern, bonded container and intermodal terminal, and a key logistics link in the group's emerging Central Asian transport strategy. The state-of-the-art, rail-linked logistics centre connects the Caspian and Black seas through Georgia, forming a vital part of the Middle Corridor, the shortest trade route between Asia and Europe. The inauguration was attended by Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia; Levan Davitashvili, First Vice Prime Minister of Georgia; Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh, Minister of State in the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs; Ahmed Ebrahim AlNuaimi, UAE Ambassador to Georgia; Giorgi Janjgava, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, the Georgian Ambassador to UAE; as well as Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, Managing Director and Group CEO of AD Ports Group; Jemal Inaishvili, Founder of Inveco; and Abdulaziz Zayed Al Shamsi, Regional CEO - AD Ports Group. AD Ports Group owns a 60% stake in Tbilisi Intermodal Hub, and the rest is held by Inveco, a local Georgian investment advisory firm, and Wilhelmsen Group. The first phase of Tbilisi Intermodal Hub is Tbilisi Dry Port, an Inland Container Depot (ICD) handling container cargo delivered by rail and truck. The group and its partners plan to expand the facility significantly by early 2026 to add long-term warehousing, additional container yards and truck parking, and a fourth railway spur, to transform it into a full-service import-and-export logistics hub for all of Central Asia, a fast-growing region that AD Ports Group is targeting as a strategic growth corridor. Captain Al Shamisi said: 'The inauguration of the first phase of Tbilisi Intermodal Hub is a significant step in our long-term plan to develop the Middle Corridor into a viable East-West trade corridor through Central Asia, where the volume of goods is expected to triple by 2030, according to The World Bank. As it expands in its second and third phases, Tbilisi Intermodal Hub will process many types of cargo, including containerised vehicles, and forms of containerised bulk and break-bulk commodities such as minerals, ores, and fertilizers playing an important role in the supply chains of Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan, as well as an East-West crossroads for goods between China and Europe. Tbilisi Intermodal Hub's soft launch commenced on May 3 when it received its first shipment of 30 containers, each carrying over 26 tonnes of cargo, via rail link from an MSC ship docked at Georgia's Black Sea Port of Batumi. An inland extension of Batumi and the Port of Poti, Georgia's key seaports, Tbilisi Intermodal Hub will play a vital role as a logistics staging hub accelerating trade flows across the Caucasus region and Central Asia. The facility has received both customs zone authorisation and Georgia's first railway infrastructure operation and safety certification, from the state Rail Transport Agency. Jemal Inaishvili, Founder of Inveco, Georgia, said: 'The inauguration of Tbilisi Intermodal Hub is a major step for the development of the logistics sector in Georgia and Central Asia. Leveraging its extensive expertise in port operations and logistics, AD Ports Group is introducing advanced management practices to Georgia's logistics sector. This collaboration not only enhances the operational efficiency of the Tbilisi Intermodal Hub but bolsters economic ties between the UAE and Georgia.' The inauguration of the Georgian intermodal logistics hub is a milestone in the group's strategy of developing the Middle Corridor into a viable, modern high-volume trade corridor linking China and Europe by overland route through Central Asia with the Group's ports and maritime assets in Türkiye and Pakistan. Spanning 7,000 km and requiring a journey of 10 to 15 days, the Middle Corridor is expected to handle up to 1.9 million Twenty Foot Equivalent Units (TEUs) of container cargo annually by 2040, as manufacturers seek to avoid longer seaborne routes. Beyond serving the Georgian Black Sea ports of Poti and Batumi as a depot for international shipping lines, the intermodal facility will function as a regional logistics hub for goods destined for neighbouring countries such as Armenia and Azerbaijan. Tbilisi Intermodal Hub is designed for scale and efficiency, featuring three 600-metre-long railway spurs, two dedicated locomotives for shunting connected to the main rail sorting station, a 50,000 sq m container yard equipped with brand-new three-unit reach stackers, and Class B warehouse, covering 2,500 sq m, and a fleet of forklifts and customs-licensed weighing scales. In a second phase to be completed by early 2026, a fourth rail spur will be added, as well as a Class A warehouse covering 9,800 sq m, and additional container yards. Tbilisi Intermodal Hub will initially handle up to 96,000 TEUs annually. The facility enables flexible cargo flows from Central Asia and the Far East via multiple transport modes -- railcars, shipper-owned containers, and trucks -- with seamless cross-docking to ocean carriers for global distribution, and vice versa. By early 2026, the second phase of construction will more than double the annual handling capacity of Tbilisi Intermodal Hub to up to 200,000 TEUs. Besides its connection to Georgia's national rail network, Tbilisi Intermodal Hub has direct access to the country's international highways, bypassing city congestion, and close proximity to major border crossings— being only 70 km from both Armenia and Azerbaijan, and just 7 km from Tbilisi International Airport. The inauguration of Tbilisi Intermodal Hub marks a significant milestone in AD Ports Group's mission to enhance global trade routes and logistics capabilities. This state-of-the-art facility not only strengthens the economic ties between the UAE and Georgia but also positions both nations as pivotal players in the Middle Corridor, AD Ports said. Dubai launches major upgrade of Al Wasl Rd, Umm Suqeim St, Al Qudra Corridor
Image: RTA/ Dubai Media Office Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has unveiled a major infrastructure development project covering Al Wasl Road, Umm Suqeim Street, and the Al Qudra corridor, aimed at reducing travel times and significantly increasing road capacity across key urban areas of the city. The development spans 15 km along Al Wasl Road, from the intersection with Umm Suqeim Street to the junction with 2nd December Street. It includes the upgrade of six intersections and the construction of five tunnels totalling 3,850 metres. The road will be widened from two to three lanes in each direction, which is expected to reduce travel times by 50 per cent and increase capacity from 8,000 to 12,000 vehicles per hour in both directions. 'Al Wasl Road Development Project forms part of a master plan developed by the RTA to upgrade the road network in the area, which also includes enhancements to Umm Suqeim and Al Safa Streets,' said Mattar Al Tayer, DG and chairman of the Board of Executive Directors of the Read: Al Wasl project: Tunnels and intersection upgrades The Al Wasl Road project includes upgrades to intersections at Al Thanya, Al Manara, Umm Al Sheif, Umm Amara, Al Orouba, and Al Safa Streets. A three-lane unidirectional tunnel will be built at the Al Manara intersection, branching into two routes with a combined capacity of 4,500 vehicles per hour. A two-lane tunnel on Umm Al Sheif Street, spanning 750 metres, will accommodate 3,200 vehicles per hour. A 700-metre tunnel at Umm Amara Street will feature two lanes in each direction with a total capacity of 6,400 vehicles per hour. A unidirectional, two-lane tunnel at Al Orouba Street will head toward Jumeirah Street, while a 750-metre tunnel at Al Safa Street will serve two-way traffic, each with a capacity of 6,400 vehicles per hour. The Al Satwa roundabout will be converted into a signalised junction, and surface-level enhancements will be implemented at five intersections along Jumeirah Street. Expanding the corridor The Al Wasl Road initiative complements a broader RTA plan to upgrade Umm Suqeim Street from Jumeirah Street to Al Khail Road, boosting capacity from 12,000 to 16,000 vehicles per hour. Travel times are expected to drop from 20 minutes to six minutes. The area serves over two million residents. The upgrade includes six intersections and will involve four bridges and three tunnels totalling 4,100 metres. Key features include a tunnel with two lanes in each direction at the intersection with Jumeirah Street, and a tunnel at Al Wasl Road for traffic from Sheikh Zayed Road to Jumeirah Street. Two bridges at Sheikh Zayed Road will eliminate traffic weaving, and a tunnel at First Al Khail Road will aid traffic from Al Barsha towards Sheikh Zayed Road. An extra lane will be added between First Al Khail and Al Asayel Street, while two elevated ramps will facilitate access to Al Khail Road and the Al Quoz Industrial Area. Al Qudra Road upgrades RTA is also progressing with upgrades from Al Khail Road to Emirates Road via Umm Suqeim Street and Al Qudra Road. A key feature is an 800-metre tunnel at Al Barsha South with four lanes in each direction. Al Qudra Road itself will be upgraded along an 11.6 km stretch, including several intersections and bridges totalling 2,700 metres. Travel times along this section are expected to fall from 9.4 minutes to 2.8 minutes. 'These projects form a blueprint for smart and sustainable mobility in Dubai,' said Al Tayer, noting that the areas covered are among Dubai's most vibrant, home to beaches, hotels, restaurants, and residential communities.
