Caitlin Clarks invokes choke celebration while taking in Pacers' Game 3 NBA Finals win
Reggie Miller, Tyrese Haliburton and now … Caitlin Clark.
Sitting courtside at Gainbridge Fieldhouse for Game 3 of the NBA Finals, the Fever guard became the latest Indiana basketball superstar to invoke Miller's legendary choke celebration — even if she wasn't playing in the game herself.
When cameras panned to Clark during the first half, the Iowa product couldn't resist doing the celebration, which Miller famously used to taunt the Knicks after his Pacers won Game 5 of the 1994 Eastern Conference finals.

Haliburton paid homage to that legendary moment in Game 1 of this year's conference finals against the Knicks, pulling it out after hitting his ridiculous shot that forced overtime and led to an eventual Indiana win.
At this point, the celebration is synonymous not just with Miller but with the Pacers and Indiana basketball as a whole.
Clark breaking it out could have been premature, since the Pacers and Thunder were locked in a back-and-forth battle for most of the game, but Indiana came through with a 116-107 win behind a terrific fourth quarter.

Still, the choke celebration might have been more apt during the Pacers' stunning Game 1 win in Oklahoma City, with Indiana trailing by double digits for much of the game before storming back late and stealing a 111-110 win on a go-ahead jumper from Haliburton with 0.3 seconds remaining.
Clark has been sidelined with a left quad strain since May 24, but the 23-year-old — who is close friends with Haliburton — has made plenty of cameos at Gainbridge Fieldhouse throughout the Pacers' run to the Finals.
In fact, Indiana is 8-0 in playoff games this year with Clark in attendance.

Clark will have an opportunity to make another appearance at Game 4 on Friday night, when Indiana will look to take a commanding 3-1 series lead against the Thunder.
And perhaps Clark will break out the choke celebration once she returns to the court with the upstart Fever, who are hoping for their own magical playoff run in September.

Pascal Siakam details feelings after Game 2 loss
Pascal Siakam details feelings after Game 2 loss originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Indiana Pacers, after a shocking comeback in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, got shown why the Oklahoma City Thunder are the best team in the NBA during Sunday's Game 2 of the series. Advertisement The Thunder won, 123-107, and led for all of the second, third, and fourth quarters. The Pacers barely lost the turnover battle, although the Thunder were able to push the pace, score in transition, and get second-chance points. All in all, it looked like OKC beat the Pacers at their own game. However, by taking Game 1, the Pacers will return home to Indiana with the series tied and with a clear advantage in Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Pascal Siakam, despite the advantage, demands that he and his team win every game. "I mean, I think you want to win every game you play," he stated clearly. "So we're not happy with how the game went today, and that's it. We just got to turn the page, focus on Game 3. That's the biggest game of the year." Advertisement Since both the Pacers and Thunder play in smaller markets, their fan bases are more rabid and loyal than those of bigger market teams, and Siakam expects the Indiana loyal to make a hostile environment for the Thunder. "Our fans, obviously, I know they're super excited to have us," he said. "And we're excited to be back in our home arena with our home fans and just ready to compete, play hard. That's our focus." Game 3 tips off on Wednesday evening, and the Pacers are 6-2 at home in the postseason. Siakam is right: the game will be the biggest one of their season so far, and perhaps the biggest Pacers' game since 2000. Haliburton compared to Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning
Haliburton compared to Andrew Luck and Peyton Manning originally appeared on Athlon Sports. From 1999 to 2018, with a few exceptions, the Indianapolis Colts were one of the most consistent teams in the NFL. Between Peyton Manning and Andrew Luck, the Colts had a steady hand at quarterback and made the playoffs 16 times under those gunslingers. Advertisement They made two Super Bowls, winning one, while the Indiana Pacers, for the most part, fell short to LeBron James or the Boston Celtics during the same span. However, as Anthony Richardson struggles to stay healthy, the Colts have taken a step back, and with Tyrese Haliburton leading the way, the Pacers have stepped up as the best team in the state. With Caitlin Clark leading the Indiana Fever, Indiana is once again basketball country. After the Pacers made their first Finals since 2000, Myles Turner took a moment to compare Haliburton to some all-time great Indiana athletes. "It's all happened so fast, but he's done a great job of composing himself and showing up when it matters the most," Turner said on Saturday. "So yeah, when you want to say he's the Peyton Manning or Andrew Luck of the city, it makes sense. He's the head of the snake." Advertisement Haliburton has received his fair share of criticism, especially after getting off to a slow start this season, although he has certainly bounced back in the playoffs, hitting five go-ahead or game-winning shots in the postseason. 'I'm just proud of the way he's handled everything," Turner continued. The Pacers stole Game 1 of the NBA Finals against the Oklahoma City Thunder before losing Game 2, but will head back home to Indiana with the series evened up. Game 3 will tip off on Wednesday. What happened to the Celtics against the Knicks, and what's next this offseason? What happened to the Celtics against the Knicks, and what's next this offseason? What happened to the Celtics against the Knicks, and what's next this offseason? Derrick White is going international this offseason. The Boston Celtics star is heading to Singapore to try his hand in coaching. White will be one of the coaches during a four-day camp for the 15th edition of Baseball Without Borders (BWB) Asia, which will be held at the Singapore Basketball Centre next weekend. Sixty of the top youth basketball players in Asia will take part in the camp, and White is one of the three current NBA players who will participate. In addition to White, Tyrese Maxey of the Philadelphia 76ers and Doup Reath of the Portland Trail Blazers will coach in the camp. A handful of NBA assistant coaches -- including former Boston College star Jared Dudley, who is now on the Dallas Mavericks staff -- and WNBA legend Ticha Penicherio are also heading overseas to coach. This marks the second straight summer White is going international. After he helped lead the Celtics to an NBA Championship in 2024, White played a hand in the 2024 U.S. Men's Olympic team winning gold in Paris. At least this time around, he won't be hitting the floor too much and can rest up for the upcoming season. During the BWB camp, White and the other coaches will lead campers through a number of activities, including movement efficiency drills, offensive and defensive skill stations, three-point contests, and 5-on-5 games. There will also be sessions that include lessons on life-skills and leadership development. The camp will conclude on Sunday, June 22 with a ceremony to hand out awards for the camp's MVP, the Three-Point Champion, the Defensive MVP, and a Sportsmanship Award. Basketball Without Borders Basketball Without Borders was organized by the NBA in conjunction with FIBA and has hosted camps since 2001 in 53 cities across 33 counties. There have been over 4,600 participants in Basketball Without Borders camps over the years, and 132 of them have moved on to the NBA or WNBA. That list includes Josh Giddey of the Chicago Bulls and Josh Green of the Charlotte Hornets (both from Australia) and Rui Hachimura of the Los Angeles Lakers (Japan).
