As both teams aim to get off to a strong start, weather conditions could play a key role in shaping the outcome of the first match. Ind vs Eng Leeds Weather Update Day 1 (Friday, June 20): Good news for fans—Day 1 is expected to be warm and dry. With temperatures peaking at 31°C, minimal cloud cover, and just a 5% chance of rain, a full day's play looks likely. The morning is expected to be drier. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Join new Free to Play WWII MMO War Thunder War Thunder Play Now Undo Day 3 (Sunday, June 22): Temperatures will drop (high of 22°C, low of 12°C) with some light showers early on. However, skies should turn partly cloudy and rain chances drop to 4%, making most of the day playable. Day 4 (Monday, June 23): Expect partly sunny and breezy weather. There's a 25% chance of a brief morning shower, but the rest of the day looks favorable. Live Events Day 5 (Tuesday, June 24): Cloudy in the morning, but conditions are expected to clear up as the day progresses. Rain remains a 25% possibility, but long delays seem unlikely. India vs England 1st Test, Leeds Pitch Report Early visuals suggest that the Headingley surface has a healthy green cover, known to support seam and swing bowling, particularly during the opening two days. Overhead cloud cover may further assist bowlers in generating lateral movement. Batters will need to stay cautious early on, but the pitch tends to settle down by Day 3. As footmarks develop, spinners could become effective in the latter half of the match. In summary, while Day 2 might see some weather interruptions, the rest of the Test promises plenty of action. Rainy week ahead across country, barring Northwest India: IMD

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) Friday said the entire country, except Northwest India, will experience moderate to heavy rainfall till Wednesday. This is because the Southwest Monsoon is currently active in addition to the development of multiple favourable weather systems. A well-marked low-pressure system is present over Northeast Jharkhand, and its north-westward movement will cause heavy rainfall (64.5 mm – 115 mm in 24 hours) over Bihar till Wednesday, over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim during Sunday to Tuesday, and over Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday and Wednesday, IMD indicated. Rainfall activity over the west coast will continue through early next week, with moist winds from the Arabian Sea attracted by the presence of an offshore trough extending between the Konkan region and Kerala. The Met department has warned of heavy rainfall over Gujarat, Konkan, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Goa, and coastal Karnataka till Wednesday and over Kerala and Mahe from Sunday to Wednesday. Very heavy rainfall (115 mm – 204 mm in 24 hours) is likely over Madhya Maharashtra on Friday and over Gujarat on Sunday and Monday, the IMD said. With the latest advance of the monsoon realised on Thursday, the northern limit of the monsoon passes through Barmer, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Gwalior, Khajuraho, Sonbhadra, and Ballia. According to the IMD, favourable conditions will further propel the monsoon into more parts of Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu and Kashmir-Gilgit-Baltistan-Muzaffarabad as well as Punjab during the next two to three days. 'The Southwest Monsoon is likely to cover the remaining areas of India during June 26-July 2,' the IMD said. If realised, this will be an early advance into the entire country before its normal date of July 6-8. Since June 1, rainfall of 82.6 mm has been reported across India, marking a deficit of 5 per cent.

Delhi breathes easy for second day in row with AQI at 89, rain expected

NEW DELHI: Delhi is in the midst of a clean air spell, with the air quality remaining in the 'satisfactory' range for the second consecutive day. The city's 24-hour average AQI was recorded at 89 on Thursday, a slight rise from Wednesday's 81, but still the cleanest stretch in over eight months. The improved air came on the back of consistent pre-monsoon showers and gusty winds, which helped disperse pollutants. Wednesday's AQI was the cleanest air Delhi has recorded since September 29 last year, breaking a 261-day streak of poor to moderate conditions. With monsoon onset expected soon, experts anticipate further improvement if wet spells continue through the weekend. Meanwhile, Delhi reeled under muggy weather on Thursday as humidity levels soared to 87%, leading to an increase in 'feels like' temperature, amid generally cloudy skies and no rainfall. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), maximum temperatures in the capital rose appreciably over the last 24 hours, with Safdarjung recording 36.4 degrees celsius, a 2.2 degrees celsius increase from the previous day, while minimum temperatures also climbed to 27.2 degrees celsius, up by 3 degrees celsius. Despite the rise, temperatures remained below or near normal for this time of the year, as the maximum was 2.4 degrees celsius below the seasonal average of 38.8 degrees celsius. No rainfall was recorded at most stations in the national capital region till 5:30 pm.
