Austin Reaves Breaks Silence on Lakers Future
Based on facts, either observed and verified firsthand by the reporter, or reported and verified from knowledgeable sources.
As the Los Angeles Lakers enter the offseason, there have been many questions involving the roster. Los Angeles has some big decisions to make this summer, and how they build the team could determine the future as well.
One question involves guard Austin Reaves and his time with the team. Reaves will be a free agent at the end of next season, and there has been plenty of trade speculation around him.
But the Lakers guard has now broken his silence on his desires, saying that he wants to remain in Los Angeles for his entire career.
"I think the sky's the limit for us. We're moving in the right direction. Obviously, adding Luka (Doncic), it gives you a hall of fame player such a young age that you can build around, and then obviously, still having Bron (Lebron James), the IQ, and still running around at forty years old, but I want to be in LA. I want to play my whole career in LA. I love it there. I love the fans. Love the weather, love the golf. And obviously the Lakers is the best organization in basketball. (on trade rumors) I don't pay attention to it. I keep my head down work, and I feel like that's one of the reasons I'm where I'm at."

Canucks Predicted to Sign 2-Time All-Star to Bolster Roster
Canucks Predicted to Sign 2-Time All-Star to Bolster Roster originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Vancouver Canucks just barely missed the postseason this year, finishing the 2024-25 season in extreme disapointment. Vancouver entered the year with high expectations, but inconsistent play doomed them from the start. Advertisement As the team gets ready for the offseason, the front office will need to make some changes to the roster. This could be bringing in more talent, but addressing the offense has to be a priority if Vanvouncer wants to be more competitive. The Canucks may look at the free agent market, and there should be a few quality players for the team to consider. NHL insider Thomas Drance of The Athletic mentioned Duchene as a target of the Canucks, linking the two sides. "The Canucks can't let perfect become the enemy of good this offseason. Though he's 34 and struggled in the Western Conference final at five-on-five, Duchene remains a versatile, productive top-of-the-lineup player with speed to burn and the ability to contribute at center or on the wing. If he's willing to come north of the 49th parallel, it's hard to come up with a better, realistic fit," Drance wrote. Dallas Stars center Matt Duchene (95) moves the puck against Los Angeles Kings defenseman Drew Doughty (8) durng the first period at Arena. Gary A. Vasquez-Imagn Images Duchene could provide a nice spark to the Canucks, especially after they just barely missed the postseason this season. The veteran was great for the Stars this year and helped them dominate during the year. Advertisement The two-time All-Star showed incredible production with Dallas this year, posting 30 goals and 52 assists for the season. If he could replicate this production with Vancouver, the Canucks could instantly become Stanley Cup contenders. Shohei Ohtani's former interpreter reports to prison for stealing nearly $17 million
The former interpreter of Los Angeles Dodgers star Shohei Ohtani, Ippei Mizuhara, reported to federal prison in Pennsylvania on Monday, Mizuhara's attorney Michael Freedman confirmed to Fox News Digital. Mizuhara was sentenced to 57 months in prison for stealing nearly $17 million from Ohtani to pay off gambling debts. Federal prosecutors asked for a 57-month prison sentence while also asking Mizuhara to pay $16.9 million of restitution to Ohtani and another $1.1 million to the IRS. The Dodgers fired Mizuhara in March 2024. Federal investigators filed a complaint against Mizuhara on April 11. One day later, he turned himself in to law enforcement, the Department of Justice confirmed. Mizuhara pleaded guilty to bank fraud and filing a false tax return in June 2024, admitting that he placed about 19,000 bets with the bookie over a two-year period and accumulated over $40 million in debt. Ohtani publicly addressed the gambling scandal in late March, saying he had never placed a sports bet and that Mizuhara's story about paying off his $4.5 million gambling debt was fabricated. Mizuhara was initially ordered to report to prison in March, but a federal judge granted a delay. No reason for the delay has been disclosed. Clippers Predicted to Draft UNC's Drake Powell
Clippers Predicted to Draft UNC's Drake Powell originally appeared on Athlon Sports. We are less than two weeks away from the NBA Draft and there are still plenty of directions the Los Angeles Clippers can go with their first pick. Advertisement They have plenty of needs. The Clippers could use a scorer. They need a power forward. They need another guard. Depth is also a need all over their roster. A new prediction would see them bring in a wing, but one who may not be ready to contribute for a while. Los Angeles Clippers logoKirby Lee-Imagn Images In the latest mock draft, The Athletic's Sam Vecenie predicted the Clippers would use their first-round pick to select UNC wing Drake Powell. Powell was a great wing defender for UNC in his lone college season. However, his draft stock is going to largely depend on how much teams believe he can develop on the offensive end of the floor. He was limited on offense this past season. He averaged just 7.4 points and 1.1 assists per game. Advertisement There were some positive signs. He shot 48.3% from the field and 37.9% from three, so there seems to be potential for him to become a dependable three-and-D wing. Powell doesn't fill an immediate need for the Clippers. They had one of the NBA's best defenses this past season. Their wing spots are also expected to be occupied by Kawhi Leonard and either James Harden or a big name they bring in to partner with him in the backcourt. While that means he likely isn't going to have a big impact any time soon, it could be a positive for him. He'll need time to grow as a scorer. The Clippers could give him that time. He'd also likely have an opportunity to take on a much larger role for the Clippers in a couple of years as their veterans move on. Advertisement Powell probably wouldn't play a part in the Clippers working their way into title contention over the next couple of years, but he has upside and one area where he excels. He could be worth a shot for the Clippers if there isn't somebody available who could help sooner.
