Police search for driver in Nashville hit-and-run that left tourist seriously injured
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Authorities are searching for a driver involved in a hit-and-run crash that left a 21-year-old tourist seriously injured nearly three weeks ago.
According to the Metro Nashville Police Department, Zach Carach was in Nashville with his family for his 21st birthday when he was struck by a Mitsubishi Mirage in the 1500 block of Church Street at approximately 6 p.m. on Sunday, May 18.

As seen on video obtained by News 2, the 21-year-old was in a crosswalk when he was hit by the vehicle and thrown airborne. The Mitsubishi is then seen driving away. According to Carach's family, doctors said it's a miracle that he survived the crash.
On May 19, just a day after the hit-and-run, officers announced that investigators at a Mt. Juliet rental facility, but efforts continued to locate the driver.
The MNPD has now identified the driver as 32-year-old Tony Lopez-Infante of Venezuela. On Tuesday, June 3, police confirmed that warrants have been obtained for the Lopez-Infante for his connection to the hit-and-run crash that injured Carach.

Upon his arrest, the 32-year-old will reportedly be charged with leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, failure to render aid/file an accident report, attempted evidence tampering and driving without a license/insurance. Police added he is also wanted in Williamson County for an outstanding probation violation warrant related to a theft arrest.
According to officials, federal partners, including Homeland Security Investigations, are assisting in the search for the 32-year-old.
Anyone with information about Lopez-Infante's whereabouts is asked to call 615-742-7463. Officials added a reward is being offered, but did not disclose an amount.

Chicago officials decry ICE tactics in surprise detentions
At least 20 people were detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents Wednesday in the South Loop, advocates say. Elected officials and advocates tell Axios the detainees received text messages asking them to check in as part of a federal monitoring program that requires them to wear ankle monitors. Why it matters: Chicago alders say masked ICE agents did not identify themselves nor inform attorneys why individuals were being detained or where they were going. The other side: ICE sent a statement to NBC 5 saying the agency had " final orders of removal" signed by a judge for those detained. ICE did not respond to Axios' multiple requests for comment. The big picture: After the people were separated from their lawyers at the 2245 S. Michigan Ave. administrative office, activists called supporters to gather outside the building, leading to clashes between protesters and agents. Elected officials on the scene included Alds. Byron Sigcho-Lopez (25th), Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez (33rd), Andre Vasquez (40th), Jessie Fuentes (26th) and Anthony Quezada (35th). Quezada says agents pushed him to the ground. What they're saying: "They cannot be operating with that level of secrecy," Sigcho-Lopez tells Axios. "These people came in with no identification, pointing guns, wearing masks, shoving people to the ground, without giving any reason for why they were being detained. This was not safe. This was mayhem." "Using text messages to call people into ISAP [Intensive Supervision Appearance Program] facilities to arrest the exact immigrants who are demonstrating their commitment to the rule of law by complying with ICE's instructions runs counter to every claim the Trump Administration has made," Rep. Delia Ramirez (D-Illinois) said in a letter to Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem. State of play: Chicago police officers were also at the scene, but according to spokesperson Tom Ahern, they were there for crowd control and were not cooperating with ICE. "No arrests were made by CPD and the crowd dispersed without incident," Ahern said in a statement. Neighbors rally to support family of man killed in Columbia shooting
COLUMBIA, Tenn. (WKRN) — Columbia residents are still shocked following a double homicide in a typically quiet neighborhood. Shortly before 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 31, the Columbia Police Department said that officers responded to a shooting with multiple victims on Somerset Lane. Those victims were later identified as 46-year-old John Bidle and 51-year-old Stacie Wright. 'This is a one-off occurrence — and a freak occurrence — that we hope to never see happen again,' Hudson said. Court documents obtained by News 2 stated that Byron Childers was walking down the street with a rifle and shot Bidle multiple times; Columbia police said he was pronounced dead at the scene. The community, now missing two beloved members, have said they aim to be shoulders for Bidle's and Wright's loved ones. 'We are there for you,' Hudson said.
