'He always wins in second season' - Carter-Vickers' delight for Postecoglou
Celtic defender Cameron Carter-Vickers enjoyed watching Ange Postecoglou end his former club's trophy drought in Thursday's Europa League final.Carter-Vickers was brought to Parkhead from Spurs during Postecoglou's successful spell at the Glasgow club. The Australian left for London 18 months ago and has gone on to lead Tottenham to Europa League glory over Manchester United despite a poor Premier League season.Centre-back Carter-Vickers, who joined Spurs' academy at the age of 11 but only played five first-team games, expressed his delight for his former manager."It's massive for us to be talking about him getting a trophy, and the fans as well," the United States defender said."He said he always wins in his second season and he's done that, so I'm happy for him. That quote will definitely go down in history."When he left here, obviously as players we were disappointed. But I think the majority of us enjoyed working with him and wanted the best for him."For him to get over the line in a cup competition is great for him and shows what he can do."Carter-Vickers has the chance to add more silverware of his own on Saturday as Celtic aim to win a domestic treble with victory over Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final. On the occasion at Hampden, he added: "I think every cup game you carry a bit of nerves going into them. But you're not nervous to the point where you can't think or can't perform. "You want that little bit of nerves there because that pushes you on and gets you up for the game."It's just going in there, having a clear mindset and playing the game, not necessarily the occasion."

Jamie Vardy handed Rangers transfer pitch as Poku tunes out ominous £10m jab and Toffolo opens door
Russell Martin is just days away from holding his first pre-season training session with Lyall Cameron the only new arrival so far Paul Dickov has challenged Jamie Vardy to make a move to "giant" Rangers to spearhead a bid to dethrone Celtic. The Light Blues are said to be among the club chasing the 38-year-old after his Leicester City exit with the new owners eyeing a landmark deal. Russell Martin is leading the American revolution at Ibrox from the dugout - and former Foxes' forward Dickov has guaranteed the veteran forward would be a "hit" under the boss in the Scottish Premiership. Speaking to Filbert Way, he said: "Jamie Vardy's got a lot to give. You've seen him at the end of last season, still running around as if he was 25 years old, still scoring goals. "So I think people look at his age and everything else, but he's still got a lot of football and a lot of goals in him. Whether that's the Premier League, who knows? "But definitely if it's a Championship or Scottish Premiership team, he'd be a hit. I think he would be a big success in Scotland, no doubt about it. "Playing for a giant like Rangers, blue jersey, it would be a good signing for them. I'm sure he's got a lot of offers and they are probably at home and abroad as well. "I think he'll be able to take his pick. Maybe he'll want an entirely new challenge, to take his family abroad for a couple of years. "Perhaps he'll want to drop to the Championship and take a club back to the Premier League. Moving to Rangers, there's the challenge of taking on Celtic. It all depends on what's going to motivate him next." Kwame Poku also looks to be inching closer to a move to Ibrox as the 23-year-old approaches the end of his Peterborough contract. Posh director of football Barry Fry has revealed he previously commanded a £5million and £5million in add-ons for the forward who is set to leave for a minimal fee. Should Poku move outside of England, a compensation fee under the lower rate FIFA guidelines would be due to the club due to cross-border rules. Peterborough owner Darragh MacAnthony told Poku to 'listen to common sense' and sign for an unnamed Championship club as he vented his frustration over the prospect of a cut-price payment. Speaking on his podcast, The Hard Truth, MacAnthony said: 'We know Kwame has been offered an absolute blockbuster move to a top, top club in England. I don't know what he's thinking or what he's waiting for. 'His agent is a big agent who represents Man United players. I think he'll rip it up in the Championship. Unless a Premier League club has come in, I don't know. 'Obviously if he ***** us and goes to Europe, I'd be furious, because I know he'll earn more and be in the Premier League in a year. 'I think a player like him disappears in Europe. If he goes to Europe, he disappears. That's his career. 'We took a chance and developed him. If he listens to common sense – and I hope his agent talks common sense because it's about him and not his agent – the best club for him is the one I know that's in for him because he'll be their stand-out player. 'And that club, we will talk to them if he does sign for them and I think common sense will meet.' Nottingham Forest left-back Harry Toffolo has named as a target after leaving the club as a free agent. And after leaving the club as a free agent, the 29-year-old has thrown the door open to an offer from Govan. He told Forest Focus: "My agent has actually left me to it whilst I've been on holiday. "He wants me to go and enjoy my time away, which he's done respectfully. Now I'm back, I'm going to get my teeth into some bits. "There's been a lot of conversations held with many clubs. So it's going to be an interesting summer. "It's going to be an exciting summer. Not a clue where I'm going to end up, which is quite fun. 'I'm used to travelling the country. So I think as long as my family, my wife and kids, we're all together, we're not really bothered where we go. "As long as we're going there and we feel appreciated, valued and I get the opportunity to play, then we'll take it.' Daniel Levy breaks silence on Ange Postecoglou sacking - as Tottenham chairman reveals why he appointed Thomas Frank
Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy has left Thomas Frank in little doubt about what he expects with a warning that one Europa League trophy is simply not enough. Levy made it clear he craves winning the Premier League and Champions League having sacked Ange Postecoglou just 16 days after leading Spurs to their first trophy for 17 years. He also expects to see a successful Spurs team, beating opponents in a fashion fit for their stylish home. 'There's no point having a wonderful stadium if you don't have a wonderful team, winning,' said Levy. 'Failure is not an option. The desire is to succeed and because it's so difficult I want to succeed even more. 'We've won a European trophy. It's not enough. It's what we haven't done that's more important. 'We need to win the league. We want to win the Premier League. We want to win the Champions League. We want to win.' Levy spoke alongside new chief executive Vinai Venkatesham on the club's in-house media channel about the pressure of the long wait for trophies and the decision to sack Postecoglou, who ended it but presided over a dreadful Premier League campaign last season, losing 22 of 38 games and finishing 17th. 'I'm very grateful to Ange,' said the Spurs chairman. 'I don't regret appointing Ange. 'In his first season we finished fifth and in our second season we were over the moon to win a trophy, but we need to compete in all competitions, and we felt that we needed a change. 'I've an excellent relationship with him. He's always going to be part of our history. Him and his family are always welcome back. 'It was a collective decision, it wasn't my decision, we do everything together. Emotionally it was difficult but we believe we've made the right decision for the club.' Venkatesham explained technical director Johan Lange had analysed more than 30 candidates for the job, delivered a short list and Brentford boss Frank emerged as 'absolutely our number one candidate' and 'an outstanding developer of young players'. On the fresh start, Levy added: 'The things that stood out to me with Thomas, he is clearly highly intelligent, great communicator, super human being, plus all the other technical aspects which are obviously really important.'

Reports have claimed that the striker has interest from at least two unnamed Premier League clubs. Serie A or LaLiga could also be the next destination should he leave Marseille, while the Saudi Pro League may be an option, too, if one of the leading clubs can create a space in the squad. Greenwood spent the 2023-24 season on loan in Spain with Getafe, scoring ten goals in 36 games.
