
Driver in car crash that led to deaths of Monaghan teenagers jailed for seven years
Anthony McGinn (61) from Drumloo, Newbliss, Co Monaghan, has been sentenced to seven years' imprisonment after pleading guilty to dangerous driving causing the deaths of two teenagers.
Kiea McCann (17) and Dlava Mohamed (16) died after the car they were travelling in left the road and crashed into a tree in the Legnakeely area on July 31st 2023 while on their way to a debs ball.
At Monaghan Courthouse on Wednesday, McGinn was also disqualified from driving for a period of 15 years.

Annie McCarrick murder: Man (60s) arrested and Garda search operation under way
A man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance and murder of Annie McCarrick 32 years ago. Ms McCarrick (26), a young American woman who was living in Ireland at the time, went missing on March 26th, 1993. The last reported sighting of her was at Johnnie Fox's pub in Glencullen in the foothills of the Dublin Mountains. The male aged in his 60s is being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in Dublin. He can be questioned for up to 24 hours. He is the first person to be arrested in relation to the murder of Ms McCarrick. READ MORE Gardaí are also commencing a search operation at a residence in Clondalkin, Co Dublin. Elements of that house and garden will be searched and subject of technical and forensic examinations. The current residents of this home are not connected in any way with Ms McCarrick or her disappearance. The arrest and search operation is being led by an investigation team from the Dublin Metropolitan Region and the serious crime unit based at Irishtown Garda station under the direction of a senior investigating officer. Woman (30s) charged in relation to fatal St Stephen's Day hit and run
A woman has been charged in relation to a hit-and-run incident that killed a husband and wife on St Stephen's Day. Anthony 'Anto' Hogg (40) and Georgina Hogg Moore (39) were struck crossing the road near Whitestown in Dublin 15 on December 26th at 5.45pm. [ Husband and wife killed in Dublin hit-and-run had been set to celebrate anniversary, joint-funeral told Opens in new window ] Ms Hogg Moore was pronounced dead at the scene while Mr Hogg was taken for treatment to Connolly Memorial Hospital, where he died several hours later. The couple's teenage daughter was with them at the time and witnessed the collision. She was not injured. A teenage son was not with them at the time. READ MORE A man, aged 40 years who was arrested on Wednesday morning in connection with this investigation and was released without charge. A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. The woman was charged and was released on bail and is due to appear before Blanchardstown District Court on June 17th. Investigations are ongoing.
