De Grasse finishes 2nd in 200m at Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo
Canadian sprint star Andre De Grasse finished 0.05 seconds away from victory in the men's 200-metre final at the World Athletics Continental Tour's Golden Grand Prix in Tokyo.
The Markham, Ont., native was held off by 23-year-old American Robert Gregory, who won with a time of 20.24 (wind -2.0 m/s) on Sunday.

De Grasse, who won Olympic gold in the 200m in 2021, is searching for his second win in the distance this season. The 30-year-old won the event at last month's Florida Relays before finishing fourth in his Grand Slam Track debut earlier this month in Miami.
De Grasse's Olympic relay teammate Jerome Blake was also in action in Tokyo. The Kelowna, B.C., native finished last in his heat in the men's 100m with a time of 11.54.
Japan's Hiroki Yanagita went on to win the 100 final in 10.06, placing ahead of Americans Christian Miller (10.08) and Christian Coleman (10.11).
Tokyo will also host the World Athletics Championship from Sept. 13-21.

J.T. Realmuto exits in 9th inning as Philadelphia Phillies lose to Blue Jays
Alejandro Kirk drove in the winning run in the ninth inning and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Philadelphia Phillies 2-1 on Wednesday night. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a one-out single off former teammate Jordan Romano (4-2) and stole second base. Addison Barger struck out but Kirk won it with a line drive that hit off the wall in right field. Former Phillies reliever Jeff Hoffman (5-2) got one out for the win. Nick Castellanos opened the scoring with a solo home run off Blue Jays right-hander José Berríos in the second. Toronto chased right-hander Mick Abel and tied it in the sixth when Bo Bichette's triple scored Andrés Giménez. The run was the first allowed by Abel in his brief big league career. Abel struck out nine in six shutout innings to win his major league debut against Pittsburgh on May 18 as the Phillies beat Pirates star Paul Skenes to finish a three-game sweep. Against the Blue Jays, Abel allowed one run and three hits in 5 1/3 innings. He struck out two and walked none for the second straight start. Abel is the first pitcher in at least the last 125 seasons with 5-plus innings, no walks and one or zero runs allowed in each of his first two MLB appearances. The Phillies recalled Abel from Triple-A Lehigh Valley earlier Wednesday. He took the roster spot of righty Zack Wheeler, who went on the paternity list. Thomson said Realmuto did not leave the stadium to receive medical attention. The three-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove award winner was in Philadelphia's clubhouse following the game. Realmuto eventually got to his feet and walked gingerly off the field. He was replaced by Rafael Marchán. 'J.T. is a tough guy,' said Jordan Romano, who was on the mound when Realmuto was hit. 'Seeing him go down like that, obviously it had to hurt pretty good. Just hope he's all right.' Realmuto entered play Wednesday batting .225 with five home runs and 22 RBIs.
