Rainbow Run returns to Cornwall for 11th year

Yahoo09-02-2025

A popular charity fun run is set to return this summer.
Taking place at RAF St Mawgan, Newquay, the Rainbow Run Cornwall on June 21 is in aid of Children's Hospice South West (CHSW).
The event, now in its 11th year, has collaborated with Penryn-based business Kernow Coatings, which is the new main sponsor.
Participants aged five and over can join the 5km run, walking or running through eight different paint stations.
Last year, the event saw more than 1,500 participants raise a record-breaking £114,000 for CHSW's Little Harbour children's hospice in St Austell.
CHSW event fundraiser Kiley Pearce said: "It is incredible that Rainbow Run is still attracting so many participants of all ages after 11 years.
"Alongside families making memories with their children, we see fitness groups and clubs taking part together, businesses using the day as a team-builder, and friends using it as an opportunity for a fun day out.
"What is so special is that the event continues to grow in terms of the sponsorship raised, which is down to the dedication and commitment of those taking part, who understand that by participating, they're supporting their local children's hospice.
"We thank RAF St Mawgan for allowing us to return each year to use the venue as the home of Rainbow Run."
Tickets are now on sale, with a 30 per cent early-bird discount for a limited time.
Participants are encouraged to raise £25 in sponsorship individually, or £70 as a family, and every finisher will receive a Rainbow Run medal.
Super-duper early-bird tickets are £14 for adults and £7 for children and are available until April 2.
Little Harbour supports more than 130 families from across Cornwall and Plymouth through day visits, resilience stays at the hospice, home visits, and virtual support.
It costs around £3 million a year to run Little Harbour, which relies almost entirely on voluntary donations.

Three-Star TE Isaac Jensen commits to Missouri Tigers

Three-Star TE Isaac Jensen commits to Missouri Tigers originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Missouri Tigers head coach Elijah Drinkwitz added another piece to his 2026 high school recruiting class on Monday when three-star tight end Isaac Jensen announced his commitment to the Tigers. Advertisement "MIZ! Let's work!" he said in a commitment post shared with On3's Hayes Fawcett and his followers on X. Listed by 247Sports at 6'6" 230lbs, Jensen hails from Millard South High School just outside of Omaha, Nebraska, and he is no stranger to winning. During his first three seasons with the Patriots, Jensen has helped Millard South to a 28-8 record and the 2024 Nebraska Class A Football State Championship. Jensen is the second recruit from the group of prospects that visited Columbia last weekend to choose Mizzou, with Florida-based four-star wide receiver Jabari Brady announcing his commitment to the program on June 7th while still being on campus. Advertisement Michael Swain of 247Sports reported last month that Mizzou is expected to take two tight ends in the 2026 high school class. This is no surprise, as the Tigers have a tight end room that tapers off once you get past junior starter Brett Norfleet, with no clear number two. The next uncommitted tight end set to venture to Columbia for an official visit is Kansas City product Kevin Sullivan on June 20th. Sullivan is set to visit with the Tigers last, after taking official visits to Kansas, Iowa State and Vanderbilt. It remains to be seen how Jensen's commitment will impact Missouri's pursuit of Sullivan, but his recruitment will be another one to watch for Mizzou fans. Monday's news brings the Tigers' 2026 high school class to four, with Jensen joining the aforementioned Jabari Brady along with four-star linebacker Keenan Harris and four-star quarterback Gavin Sidwar. Flashlights and glowing golf balls. How a NY man played for 35 hours in quest for world record

Associated Press A New York man is laying claim to the record for most consecutive hours playing golf — a 35-hour stint on a course on Long Island that began early Sunday evening and ended early Tuesday morning. Kelechi Ezihie initially planned to play 24 hours to set a Guinness World Record, only to learn hours into his effort that a British golfer had played for 32 straight hours on a course in Norway at the end of May. His sister had called him after seeing the 32-hour record while searching the internet, he said. Surprised but determined, he plodded on through rain, fatigue and drenched and aching feet to outlast the Brit, Isaac Rowlands. 'I feel proud to be able to say I am a world champion,' he said. "This is an opportunity that not many people have. It's definitely something I will definitely be telling my kids and my grandkids moving forward in the future.' Armed with friends, flashlights and glow-in-the-dark golf balls, the 27-year-old Ezihie teed off at Huntington Crescent Club at about 6:30 p.m. on Sunday and sank his last putt shortly after 5:30 a.m. Tuesday — playing the 18 holes seven times for a total of 126 holes, he said. Along the way, friends took video of the entire outing and other people served as witnesses so Guinness could verify the record, he said. He was allowed a five-minute break per hour, under Guinness rules, and ended up taking 20-minute breaks at the end of each round while still following the rules. Kylie Galloway, a spokesperson for London-based Guinness, said it takes 12 to 15 weeks for specialists with the organization to review evidence and declare whether a record has been set. He said no one currently holds the record for longest golf marathon, and anyone who applies must have played at least 24 hours. Ezihie, an assistant manager at an organization that serves people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and autism, said he wanted to set the record to promote diversity in golf. 'People become intimidated when they hear about golf and they think it's for the wealthy," he said in a phone interview Wednesday. "I see how much golf has taught me, and I just believe that golf is a game that everybody should be able to get a chance to play and they could definitely learn life lessons from this game.' Ezihie, who has been playing golf for only two and a half years, also promotes golf locally and is trying to raise funds to build a golf center in Imo State in Nigeria, where he is from, to build interest in the sport among children. He has lived in the U.S. since 2008. Near the end of his golf marathon in Tuesday's early hours, Ezihie said his feet were really hurting. 'I was willing to play 'til the wheels fell off, and I did just that. My legs gave up on me and I was limping almost through the whole round," he said, adding 'I enjoyed every round.' recommended
