
INJAZ Bahrain and BBK empower students to combat cybercrime through FinSec Knights Hackathon
Manama, Bahrain – INJAZ Bahrain and BBK successfully hosted the BBK FinSec Knights Hackathon, an intensive three-day event powered by INJAZ Bahrain that challenges university students to develop cutting-edge solutions to address cybersecurity threats in the financial sector.
The BBK FinSec Knights Hackathon powered by INJAZ Bahrain held at HQ by Hope Fund, Seef Mall, welcomed university students specializing in cybersecurity, computer science, artificial intelligence, data analytics, and networking. Teams of five participated in a dynamic full-day challenge designed to spark innovation, collaboration, and practical problem-solving.
Throughout the event, students attended expert-led workshops, explored emerging trends in cybersecurity, and took part in a field visit to a BBK branch to gain deeper insights into the bank's operations, services, and career pathways. The BBK FinSec Knights Hackathon powered by INJAZ Bahrain also served as a valuable networking platform, connecting students with industry leaders and fellow innovators while fostering creativity and hands-on learning.
In recognition of outstanding ideas and impactful solutions, financial prizes were awarded to the first place winners University of Bahrain – Team 2 and University of Bahrain – Team 5 and second place winners Arab Open University – Team 1 and Bahrain Polytechnic – Team 2. The closing ceremony, which welcomed several VIP guests including, H.E Shaikh Abdulla bin Mohamed bin Abdulwahab Al Khalifa - Deputy CEO for Cyber Operation at the National Cyber Security Center and Ms. Mashael Al Qutami - Acting Secretary General of Isa bin Salman Education Charitable Trust celebrated the students' achievements and their contributions to strengthening cybersecurity resilience within the banking sector and beyond.

Shaikha Hessa bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairperson of INJAZ Bahrain, said: 'At INJAZ Bahrain, we believe in the power of experiential learning to prepare youth for the demands of tomorrow's workforce. Bahrain: BBK inks accord to build new hi-tech health centre in Galali
Bahrain - A new state-of-the-art health centre will be constructed in Galali. The project, worth BD5.2 million, was announced by BBK, a leader in retail and corporate banking in Bahrain, during an official signing ceremony held at the bank's headquarters in Manama. Contracts were signed with Mohammed Jalal Contracting, appointed to execute the construction work, and Adel Ahmadi Associates, assigned to supervise the project. The new centre will span a total area of 9,713 square metres and feature a modern two-storey design. The ground floor will house 14 consultation clinics, 14 nurse examination rooms and an emergency department with 12 beds. The first floor will include a maternal and childcare unit, eight dental clinics and dedicated administrative offices. Once completed, the centre is expected to significantly enhance healthcare access and outcomes for the local community. The signing ceremony was attended by BBK group chief executive Yaser Alsharifi, members of the executive management team, Primary Healthcare Centres board of trustees chairman Abdulwahab Abdulwahab and chief executive Dr Ejlaal Al Alawi, and other senior officials from the health sector. Officials during the signing ceremony Mr Alsharifi said that the centre stands as a landmark initiative that underscores the bank's unwavering commitment to its social responsibility principles. 'The project will play a pivotal role in strengthening Bahrain's healthcare infrastructure and delivering high-quality, accessible medical services to the residents of Galali and neighbouring areas,' he added. 'This forward-looking initiative is closely aligned with the goals of Bahrain's Vision 2030, and it reinforces national efforts to enhance and modernise the healthcare sector.' He added that the new health centre will serve as a model of excellence in community care and will be a vital addition to Bahrain's healthcare network. 'It reflects our strategic vision of delivering sustainable impact through meaningful partnerships and long-term investment in national priorities. 'We are committed to delivering this project to the highest international standards and to continuing our collaboration with both public and private sector partners to ensure its success and alignment with the kingdom's broader development goals.' The event was attended by Her Highness Shaikha Hessa Bint Khalifa Al Khalifa, Chairperson of INJAZ Bahrain alongside senior officials from the Ministry of Education, Board members and the executive management of both entities, school coordinators, and participating students. Now in its seventh consecutive year, the Smart Investor Program continues to serve as a key national initiative aimed at strengthening financial literacy among young learners. Delivered through engaging, activity-based learning, the program introduces foundational concepts in personal finance, including budgeting, saving, and financial planning, empowering students with practical knowledge for real-world financial decision-making. The program's success underscores Bahrain Bourse and INJAZ Bahrain's ongoing commitment to fostering a financially savvy and responsible generation. This year's edition of the academic year culminated in the Smart Investor National Competition, designed to test students' comprehension and application of financial concepts. A total of 48 teams competed in a two-phased selection process. In the first stage, students submitted short videos creatively illustrating one of the core financial concepts of the Smart Investor Program. The second stage required teams to conceptualize a mobile application designed to support financial planning. The ceremony concluded with the announcement of the top three winning teams across both school categories. For the government schools category, the first-place award was presented to Aamina Bent Wahab Primary Girls School, the second-place award to Hamad Town Primary Girls School, and the third-place award to Al Mustaqbal Primary Girls School. For the private schools category, the first-place award was presented to Al Hekma International School, the second-place award to Modern Knowledge Schools, and the third-place award to Al Raja School. Additionally, the 'Best Video' award from the first stage of the competition was presented to Moza Bint Hamad Al Khalifa Comprehensive School for the government schools category and Canadian School Bahrain for the private schools category.
