Ragdoll Kitten's Obsession With Newborn Baby Brother Has People Sobbing
Ragdoll Kitten's Obsession With Newborn Baby Brother Has People Sobbing originally appeared on PetHelpful.
Raising a baby can be downright stressful and all-consuming at times, but it can also be incredibly joyful and rewarding. Of course, the trenches of parenthood can feel more like a float in a lazy river when you have the right support system, and no one ever said that support could only come from humans.
Just ask the mama behind @pearlsragdolls! This pro kitten raiser has two babies and 19 fur babies of her own, but her newborn son, Maverick, has already been adopted by one of her ragdoll kittens. They cuddle together, play together, and share their parents' affection, but soon enough, they'll be growing up together, too!
Pass the tissues, please! This relationship between the Opal, the ragdoll kitten, and her baby is 'paw-sitively' priceless. Whether they're cuddled up in the crib or testing out each other's favorite napping spots, they learn more and more about each other every day.
Some people who are unfamiliar with cats think of them as aloof and independent, but Opal proves that cats can be just as loving and affectionate as any other pet."Maverick is already doing a great job as an emotional support baby for the kittens," one commenter joked. He was born for this life! It's easy to see why the baby has been the most popular person at home ever since he arrived from the hospital, but no one understands why Opal may still be up for adoption.
Opal is just one of many rambunctious kittens living in this home, but soon enough, they'll be old enough to find families of their very own. As many viewers don't hesitate to point out, it looks like this affectionate feline has already found hers!
"If you don't keep Opal," another commenter began, "I'm suing."
Clearly, Maverick and Opal's fans have strong feelings about keeping these besties together, but only time will tell what their parents decide to do.
In the meantime, let's enjoy every adorable interaction between the confident kitty and blissful baby. These friends are a match made in heaven!

YouTube star, animal activist Mikayla Raines dies by suicide after extreme online bullying, her husband claims
A beloved YouTube star and passionate animal rights activist died by suicide after enduring relentless online bullying, her heartbroken husband revealed. Mikayla Raines, a popular content creator and founder of the Save A Fox rescue center, was the victim of an 'online bullying campaign' from people she knew and those who worked at 'other animal sanctuaries' over the years, her husband Ethan Frankamp said in a heartbreaking YouTube video Monday. The 29-year-old was also a mom to a baby daughter. Advertisement 4 Mikayla Raines died by suicide at 29, according to her husband Ethan Frankamp. @saveafox_rescue/Instagram 'To those of you that pushed her to this, every one of you that had been responsible for making her feel this way, I wish — I wish you had to see me find her, and I wish you had to watch me perform CPR on her for 15 minutes until the first responders arrived,' Frankamp said. 'I wish you had to watch helplessly as paramedics attempted to revive her lifeless body.' Advertisement Recently, Raines' close friends began to criticize her, according to Frankamp. He claimed the criticism caused her mental health to take a tragic turn for the worse. 'She felt as if the entire world had turned against her,' he shared. 'She has always battled with borderline personality disorder, causing emotional instability as well as impulsive behaviors, but this time it went too far. She couldn't bear what she was feeling any longer and she ended her life.' Frankamp added that his wife also had autism and struggled with depression. He ended the tearful video by telling critics spreading 'garbage' rumors to 'shut up' — and urged people feeling 'lost and hopeless' to reach out to a loved one or call a hotline for help. The Minnesota mother's death announcement came one day after her husband posted a sweet video of Raines smiling after she rescued a lemur that didn't appear to be house-trained. Advertisement The Save A Fox YouTube channel boasts 2.45 million subscribers. 4 Raines founded the Save A Fox rescue and ran a popular YouTube page. @saveafox_rescue/Instagram 'She was never in it for fame, money or personal gain,' Frankamp said. TikTok Looks to Gamify Livestream Engagement With Fan Clubs
This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. TikTok's trying out another way to boost its livestreaming element, with an updated 'Fan Club' option to incentivize viewer engagement. As you can see in this example, Fan Clubs, which are an updated version of TikTok's 'Creator's Team,' enable livestreamers in the app to drive community interaction, by essentially gamifying the process. Live viewers are able to join a creators' Fan Club by sending a virtual gift during a stream. They'll then be automatically enrolled as a Fan Club member, meaning that they follow the creator, and will be given a listing of tasks that they can complete to level up within that community. As explained by TikTok: 'Fan Club levels allow your followers to unlock different perks. As they complete missions to earn fan points and level up, they'll earn rewards and access to exclusive Gifts to send to a creator's LIVE videos.' Those 'missions' currently range from watching livestreams, to commenting and sending gifts. Yeah, it's pretty much just engaging with streamers' content, but that then gives each viewer more points within the group, and they'll be ranked for such on a leaderboard. Which, ideally, will drive more engagement: 'To maintain your fan status, you must earn points within 7 days of the creator going LIVE, or it will be automatically paused (we'll send you a reminder if your membership is about to be paused). As a Fan Club member, you can collect rewards for earning points and leveling up. As you move to higher levels in Fan Clubs, you will receive rewards such as access to an exclusive creator chat room, special gifts to be sent during LIVE, member badges that appear next to your username in LIVE, entry lights that highlight your username when participating in LIVE.' So TikTok's trying to trick you into becoming the biggest live supporter in the app, by providing a competitive element to commenting and giving gifts in each stream. Which will probably work. YouTube's testing similar, with an engagement leaderboard for livestreams, though its version if primarily focused on gaming creators at this stage. And given that the audience for such content is likely into games and competition, adding a means for them to engage in such to show their support makes sense. TikTok's aiming for similar, and based on how its Creator's Team has worked in the past, it can help to drive more engagement. TikTok says that active team members sent 3x as many gifts, and spent 4x longer watching livestreams than the average follower. So while it may feel like a pretty blatant engagement drive, it does work, and this updated display for livestream fans will boost engagement. But it's not available in all regions as yet. TikTok has been promoting the option on its TikTok LIVE profile in the app, with a focus on Asian region creators. I've asked TikTok for more information on availability, but have not had word back at the time of publishing. Interestingly, TikTok's also trying out a similar engagement drive for live creators, with some users seeing a new 'LIVE Journey' activation in the app: As you can see in these screenshots (shared by social media researcher Jonah Manzano), this is aimed at incentivizing creators, not fans, in order to get more people streaming in the app. Which is all part of TikTok's broader push to boost livestream engagement, with a view to then converting that into in-app sales activity. Livestream commerce is huge in China, and if TikTok can get it right, it can replicate that success in other markets. It's clearly making that a focus, and it'll be interesting to see whether more creators end up going live as a result. Bonus: Here's a (thin) infographic overview of how TikTok Live Fan Club's work:

YouTube Expands Access to Auto-Dubbing, Beat-Matching, and More
This story was originally published on Social Media Today. To receive daily news and insights, subscribe to our free daily Social Media Today newsletter. YouTube's expanding access to its auto-dubbing feature, as well as its expanded idea recommendation elements, while it's also launching its AI-powered 'Dram Screen' option to users in the U.K., as part of its latest round of feature updates. First off, on auto-dubbing. After expanding access to the feature at the end of last year, YouTube says that all verified creators will now be able to access its updated language translation feature. As you can see in this example, auto-dubbing enables YouTubers to automatically share their content in different languages, by activating audio translations of their content. And now, more creators will be able to activate the feature. As per YouTube: 'We're excited to share that by the end of this week we're making auto-dubbing available for 80 million creators worldwide. Creators who are interested in using auto-dubbing can verify their account for access to advanced features, though there may be a delay until the automatic dubbing setting appears. When the automatic dubbing setting appears, make sure to toggle it on to enable.' To be clear, YouTube made auto-dubbing available via early access to YPP creators back in April, but now, it's expanding it to all creators who are registered in the app. 'As a recap, all new content, both shorts and VODs, will be automatically dubbed upon upload, and viewers will be defaulted into an audio track based on their language preference and watch history. Up until now auto-dubbing was available in nine languages and now we're adding 11 additional languages.' So more access, and more languages via auto-dubbing, which could help to expand your YouTube audience. You can verify your YouTube channel via this process. On another front, YouTube is also making its 'Inspiration' tab available in more regions. YouTube's Inspiration tab (which is actually the 'research' tab renamed) provides content recommendations for your channel, based on your audience's interests and expanded viewing habits. It now also includes various AI-powered elements, including a 'Brainstorm' section, which can help you come up with content ideas. And now, more creators are getting access: 'We're happy to announce that [the Inspiration tab] is now launching to countries in the EU and U.K., as well as Switzerland. You can find it on the content page within Studio Desktop.' So now, more people will be able to access YouTube's smart content recommendations, based on viewing habits and engagement, which could help to guide your thinking on your next idea. Similarly, YouTube's also expanding access to its Dream Screen option, which enables users to generate images and videos based on text prompts. Dream Screen was originally launched to selected users in June last year, and now U.K. users will also be able to try it out. YouTube also notes that it's looking to expand Dream Screen to more regions shortly. Finally, YouTube's also expanding access to its beat-matching tool for Shorts. First launched in April, YouTube's 'Sync to Beat' video editing option automatically matches your audio and video elements to create a more professional look and feel to your clips. It was initially only available in selected markets, but now, all creators can access the option. 'When you select multiple photos and video clips from your phone's gallery, you now have the option to automatically create a short video synced to music. Just choose the media, pick a song, and it will arrange your clips to match the beat. Creators will get a preview, and can edit further if needed.' So, broader access to more of YouTube's advanced editing features, which will enable more creators to put together better-looking, more engaging clips.
