Brunei sultan leaves Malaysia after hospital scare
KUALA LUMPUR: Brunei's Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah has returned back to his home country and was in a 'good condition', Malaysian premier Anwar Ibrahim said late on Tuesday.
Sultan Hassanal was admitted to hospital in Kuala Lumpur a week ago due to fatigue, though his office had insisted the world's longest-serving monarch was in 'good health'.
Anwar said he visited the sultan Tuesday afternoon 'before he departed for Bandar Seri Begawan,' the oil-rich state's capital.
'Praise be to God, His Majesty is in good condition and the recovery process went well after (he was) discharged,' Anwar posted on Facebook.
The 78-year-old sultan was in Kuala Lumpur for a summit with other Association of Southeast Asian Nations leaders.
A statement from the Brunei prime minister's office -- a position held by the sultan -- last week said the monarch had been feeling tired and that Malaysian health experts had advised him to rest for a few days at the National Heart Institute.
Sultan Hassanal ascended the throne in 1967.
He is one of the richest people on the planet, and comes from a family that has ruled Brunei, a small Muslim nation perched on the north of the tropical island of Borneo, for more than 600 years.
His decades ruling Brunei have seen the country gain full independence from Britain and living standards soar to among the highest globally.
But his reign has also been marked by controversies including the introduction of tough Islamic laws legislating penalties such as severing of limbs and death by stoning.

Indonesia exports corn to Malaysia for 1st time

President Prabowo Subianto attended the ceremony marking the export of 1,200 tons of corn to Malaysia, held in Bengkayang Regency, West Kalimantan Province. Corn producers from Bengkayang have received a request from Malaysia for 20,000 tons, which will be delivered in stages. The commodity was transported by a number of trucks heading to the Malaysian state of Sarawak. In his speech, Prabowo said Indonesia should no longer need to import corn from other countries by 2026, expressing optimism that the nation would achieve maize self-sufficiency even sooner. "I believe that Indonesia will not only be self-sufficient in food, but will become the world's food barn," he said. According to Statistics Indonesia, domestic maize production increased by 2.98 percent last year, reaching 15.21 million tons compared to the previous year. Java was the largest producing island, contributing 7.89 million tons, or 51.86 percent of total national production.

Arafah sermon calls for unity, rejection of extremism and division
MAKKAH: The haj pilgrimage is a powerful platform for unity and a symbol of universal solidarity that can restore the strength of the Muslim ummah if it is embraced with sincerity and deep understanding. Minister in the Prime Minister's Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr Mohd Na'im Mokhtar said as Muslims around the world face increasing division due to narrow-minded ideologies and a fading sense of brotherhood, the spirit of haj must be embraced to rekindle the values of love, mutual respect, and fraternity among the faithful. "If we reflect with open hearts, we will see that haj is a commanding symbol of unity for Muslims worldwide. Look at the millions of people from different races, skin colours, cultures, and languages gathering in one place, facing one qiblah, calling out one name, Allah SWT. "There are no titles, no castes, no worldly pride. All that remains are two pieces of white cloth and hearts humbled before the Creator. Here, Islam abolishes discrimination and upholds true justice, that a person's worth lies not in appearance or wealth but in piety and righteous deeds. "This is the social objective (maqasid) of haj, to unite the hearts of the followers of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). Without unity, the ummah will remain weak, marginalised, and lost," he said in the Arafah sermon titled 'The Call of Tawhid and Unity of the Ummah,' delivered in conjunction with Wukuf Day on the plains of Arafah today. Muslims are also urged to embrace the noble values emphasised throughout haj to ensure that the pilgrimage is not only valid but also leaves a profound impact in shaping one's character and personal development. Mohd Na'im also reminded pilgrims to safeguard their safety, belongings, and families to avoid negligence that could jeopardise their entire pilgrimage. "Pilgrims are also reminded to fulfill the rights of fellow human beings by practising tolerance and mutual assistance and to avoid any kind of dispute that may undermine the spiritual essence of haj," he said. He also encouraged pilgrims to frequently seek forgiveness (istighfar) and to let haj be a turning point in their lives, one that leads them back to a state of spiritual purity, deep reflection, and renewed devotion to Allah SWT. Earlier, Mohd Na'im spent time visiting the accommodation tents and mingling with Muassasah pilgrims here.
