Lions beat Bills, Commanders in ESPN's Trey Hendrickson trade bidding war

The post Lions beat Bills, Commanders in ESPN's Trey Hendrickson trade bidding war appeared first on ClutchPoints.
Trey Hendrickson is one of the biggest names on the NFL trade market. Over the last two seasons, Hendrickson has been one of the best defensive players in the league and will immediately make a team better by being on their roster. His future remains in question, and the latest rumor has the Detroit Lions making a move for the four-time Pro Bowler.

ESPN predicted the scenario in place with the Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, Detroit Lions, and Washington Commanders making a push for Henrickson. Jeremy Fowler predicted the Colts' offer, Dan Graziano did the Bills, Ben Solak the Lions, and Seth Walder predicted the Commanders' offer.
Here is a breakdown of each one from ESPN:
Colts offer: 2026 second-round pick + 2027 fifth-round pick for Hendrickson.
'Why this deal makes sense for both sides: This sort of urgent move from Indy general manager Chris Ballard would solidify the edge of new coordinator Lou Anarumo's defense. Anarumo would gladly reunite with Hendrickson after they spent four seasons together in Cincinnati.'

Bills offer: 2026 second-round pick for Hendrickson.
'Why this deal makes sense for both sides: The Bengals have made it clear they don't want to give away Hendrickson, so I'm not even sure the Bills' (likely late) second-rounder would be enough. But if the Bengals' demands drop, I could see Buffalo pouncing to secure the veteran edge rusher it needs to take down Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes in the playoffs.'
Lions offer: 2026 second-round pick + 2027 fourth-round pick (can become third-rounder with performance conditions) for Hendrickson + 2026 sixth-rounder.
'Why this deal makes sense for both sides: Lions general manager Brad Holmes has acknowledged the fan base wants a secondary edge rusher far more than he does, but I imagine a player of Hendrickson's caliber would change Holmes' calculus slightly. Hendrickson isn't the sort of run defender the Lions might prioritize, yet a pass-rush duo of Aidan Hutchinson and Hendrickson might be the scariest in the NFL.'

Commanders offer: DT JerZhan Newton + 2026 third-round pick + 2027 seventh-round pick for Hendrickson.
'Why this deal makes sense for both sides: Washington is in win-now mode, but Dorance Armstrong is its best edge rusher. Adding Hendrickson, who recorded the second-best pass rush win rate at edge last season (24%), would be a huge boost.'
Verdict: Lions win the offer and receive Hendrickson for the two draft picks. This would be a win-win for both teams. Clearly, the Bengals cannot afford to keep Hendrickson long term, and being able to receive a second-round pick plus a potential third rounder, the Bengals will be able to attempt to replace Hendrickson with a younger player in the upcoming 2o26 draft.
The Lions get Hendrickson to pair with Aidan Hutchinson and improve their stellar defense.

Indiana Fever roster have ESPN's best young WNBA core with Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston

Indiana Fever roster have ESPN's best young WNBA core with Caitlin Clark, Aliyah Boston Roster building in any professional sport is a science that many have tried to study, but only a select few have ever figured out. The WNBA is no different. With roster cuts, a salary cap, and young talent oozing from the collegiate level, roster management has never been harder than it is right now. The Indiana Fever, who feature young stars such as Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston, began building through the WNBA draft while also exploring free agency to show the constant balancing act required to find success. Their current roster is young, but it is also very talented. That combination puts the Indiana Fever atop ESPN's rankings of the best young cores in the WNBA. Indiana Fever (3-4) Average age (league ranking): 28.5 (6th youngest) Key players to build on (age): Caitlin Clark (23), Aliyah Boston (23), Lexie Hull (25) It's no surprise to see the Fever here with the brightest group of young stars in the WNBA. With Clark and Boston, Indiana has the No. 1 picks from the 2023 and 2024 drafts -- each of whom went on to win Rookie of the Year in back-to-back seasons as well. When healthy (and both have been extremely durable throughout college and the pros, up until Clark's recent injury), no team has a dynamic duo this good and this young. That's particularly true when you consider how well their games complement each other's, with Clark serving as the WNBA's ultimate heliocentric perimeter creator and initiator, and Boston scoring inside the arc with high volume and efficiency. The two took some time to figure out how to mesh in Clark's rookie season last year, but both were improving their numbers early this season before Clark got hurt. Boston has a sky-high 65.7 True Shooting % (TS%) this season, for instance, while scoring 16.8 points per game. Don't sleep on Hull, either; the fourth-year guard out of Stanford has improved each year of her WNBA career and is tracking for a breakout performance. - Neil Paine, ESPN It isn't overly shocking that the Fever have found their place at the top of this list. They have the last two WNBA Rookie of the Year winners and are arguably the face of the entire league. Caitlin Clark has transcended the WNBA and is barely in her second season. Aliyah Boston is only getting better, and the rest of the Fever are going to be forced to develop alongside Clark, who makes life easier on everyone with the attention she demands from other teams. If the Indiana Fever can avoid major injuries or catastrophic departures in free agency, they are as primed as any team in the league to be contending for titles over the next decade. New York Giants' Wan'Dale Robinson praises Russell Wilson: 'Easy to catch'

New York Giants' Wan'Dale Robinson praises Russell Wilson: 'Easy to catch' The New York Giants have a brand new quarterback room this season, led by 10-time Pro Bowler and Super Bowl champion Russell Wilson. The Giants have not played a down in earnest yet with Wilson under center, but early returns indicate the team feels they are marked better than they were in years past with him throwing passes, especially deep ones. "That deep ball just drops right in the bucket, for sure. And then whenever he's throwing just the shorter routes and stuff like that, it kind of comes in like a pillow," said wide receiver Wan'Dale Robinson at the Giants' OTA session on Thursday. "It's really, really easy to catch, which I like. "The first time we threw, me and (Darius) Slay(ton) were both like, this is actually better than we expected. And so, no, we were ecstatic about it, and couldn't be more happy that he's our quarterback." Wilson, with his long resume of success and neverending positivity, is a breath of fresh air for this dormant Giant offense. "Russell, he's been a guy that when you look at what he's done from Seattle to Pittsburgh, it was a mesh and fit for our scheme," Giants assistant general manager Brandon Brown told the media on Thursday, "We knew we needed to push the ball down the field a lot more. You guys have seen him do that in practice. That's an ability and knack that is unique for Russ." The Giants were one of the worst deep passing teams in the NFL last season and Wilson's presence should help change that as we at Giants Wire recently outlined. Wilson the NFL with a 97.3 deep passing grade last season. Even with the addition of superstar wide receiver Malik Nabers, the Giants struggled to throw the ball downfield last season. As a team, they recorded just a 67.4 deep passing grade in 2024, 4th-worst in the NFL. Wilson has certainly looked the part this spring and his receivers are happy. All things considered, it's a positive start.

Cameron Champ sits one stroke behind them, while Jake Knapp is also within striking distance at -7. The defending champ, Robert MacIntyre, is still in the mix and will start tied for ninth at the start of the second round. Shane Lowry might be the player to keep an eye on if he posts a solid round on Friday. As the most established player near the top of the leaderboard, Lowry could enter the weekend as the favorite if he can make up some ground on the leaders. He shot a 64 yesterday. Unfortunately, it appears Rory McIlroy might have already fallen out of contention, coming in at +1, after struggling to get through his opening round.
