NIA conducts searches at 32 locations in J-K against terror ecosystem
New Delhi [India], June 5 (ANI): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday conducted a series of searches across Kashmir as part of its continuing investigations against terror conspiracy by Pakistan-backed proscribed terrorist organisations and their offshoots to destabilise Jammu and Kashmir.
According to an official release, 32 locations in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir were searched as part of today's crackdown.
The locations were residential premises of hybrid terrorists and overground workers associated with these Pakistan-based offshoots such as The Resistance Front (TRF), United Liberation Front Jammu & Kashmir (ULFJ&K), Mujahideen Gazwat-ul-Hind (MGH), Jammu & Kashmir Freedom Fighters (JKFF), Kashmir Tigers, PAAF and others, which are affiliated to proscribed terrorist organisations such as Laskar-e-Toiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Al- Badr.
As per the release, the cadres and workers whose premises were searched are under the NIA's scanner for their involvement in supporting terrorist activities such as facilitating terrorists, collection and distribution of sticky bombs/magnetic bombs, IEDs, funds, narcotic substances, and arms/ammunitions.
According to the NIA investigations, the above-mentioned organisations supported by their leaders in Pakistan have been conspiring to commit acts of terror and violence by radicalising local youth and mobilising overground workers, to disturb peace and communal harmony in J&K.
Investigations have revealed that Pak-based operatives were using social media / online apps to facilitate and promote terror. Drones were being used by them to deliver arms/ammunition, explosives, narcotics, etc., to their operatives and cadres in the Kashmir valley, the release stated.
Two Live cartridges, one fired bullet head, and one bayonet have been recovered during the searches. Apart from this, several digital devices containing large volumes of incriminating data and documents have been recovered by NIA in these searches. These will be subjected to a thorough scrutiny by the agency to unravel the details of the terrorist conspiracy.
NIA is continuing its investigation into the case. (ANI)

Gaza's civil defence agency said Israeli forces killed at least 36 Palestinians on Saturday, six of them in a shooting near a US-backed aid distribution centre. The Israeli military told AFP that troops had fired "warning shots" at individuals that it said were "advancing in a way that endangered the troops". The shooting deaths were the latest reported near the aid centre run by the Gaza Humanitarian Fund (GHF) in the southern district of Rafah and came after it resumed distributions following a brief suspension in the wake of similar deaths earlier this week. Meanwhile, an aid boat with 12 activists on board, including Swedish climate campaigner Greta Thunberg, was nearing Gaza in a bid to highlight the plight of Palestinians in the face of an Israeli blockade that has only been partially eased. Civil defence spokesman Mahmud Bassal told AFP that at around 7:00 am (0400 GMT), "six people were killed and several others wounded by the forces of the Israeli occupation near the Al-Alam roundabout", where they had gathered to seek humanitarian aid from the distribution centre around a kilometre (a little over half a mile) away. AFP is unable to independently verify the tolls compiled by the civil defence agency or the circumstances of the deaths it reports. Samir Abu Hadid, who was there early Saturday, told AFP that thousands of people had gathered near the roundabout. "As soon as some people tried to advance towards the aid centre, the Israeli occupation forces opened fire from armoured vehicles stationed near the centre, firing into the air and then at civilians," Abu Hadid said. The GHF said in a statement it had not distributed aid on Saturday because of "direct threats" from Hamas. Meanwhile the World Health Organisation said in a statement there were no functioning hospitals left in northern Gaza and said the healthcare system in the territory was collapsing. It also warned that the last two functioning hospitals in Khan Yunis in southern Gaza were at risk and called for them to be protected. Separately, in a special operation in the Rafah area on Friday, Israeli forces retrieved the body of Thai hostage Nattapong Pinta, Defence Minister Israel Katz said. Thai Foreign Ministry spokesman Nikorndej Balankura said the country was "deeply saddened" by his death. 20% ethanol blending achieved after policy changes in 2014, says Fadnavis
1 2 Pune: Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday lauded the efforts of Pune-based Praj Industries for its contribution to biofuel generation and said the sector suffered due to the lack of a policy during the UPA-led govt's tenure. It was only after NDA formed govt in 2014 that did India start achieving 20% ethanol blending with petrol that could help save crores of rupees in foreign exchange, he said. "The period from 2009 to 2014 was a struggle not only for Praj Industries but for the entire country. Before that, during Atal Bihari Vajpayee's govt, he formed a committee to study ethanol blending and a decision was made for 5% blending with petrol. However, the subsequent govt failed to implement the decision effectively," he said in Pune. The CM further said whenever the demand to increase the ethanol blending percentage was raised (during the UPA tenure), some people would claim that a developing country like India could not afford it by compromising food security. "The scenario changed after 2014 when the NDA govt, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, brought changes in the policy to increase the percentage. The country has achieved 20% ethanol blending due to which India is saving crores of rupees in foreign exchange, which we would have to spend on importing fuel," Fadnavis said at an event organised to release a book written by the founder president of Praj Industries, Pramod Chaudhari.
