Michigan cracks down on 13 illegal gambling websites
LANSING, Mich. (WLNS) — The Michigan Gaming Control Board () has sent cease-and-desist letters to 13 illegal offshore gambling websites.
The MGCB says the illegal offshore websites operated without proper state licenses and unlawfully targeted Michganders.

The MGCB says the websites allowed users to gamble using a variety of payment methods, such as credit cards, PayPal, and cryptocurrencies.
The websites would use restrictive withdrawal practices, demanding players meet high wagering thresholds before accessing their funds. MGDB says these practices leave users vulnerable to financial exploitation and undermine the fairness of the gambling experience.
These websites are not regulated to Michigan's standards for responsible gaming, consumer protection, or data security, putting users at further risk of fraud and identity theft.
'These illegal gambling websites put Michigan residents at significant personal and financial risk,' said Henry Williams, Executive Director of the MGCB, in a news release sent to 6 News.
'Our priority is to maintain a secure and regulated gaming environment. These websites not only violate Michigan`s laws but also engage in deceptive practices that endanger consumers, including withholding winnings and imposing unfair wagering requirements,' added Williams.

Murder suspect found during drug investigation at Hall County home
A murder suspect on the run for over a year was caught during a Hall County drug investigation, deputies said. [DOWNLOAD: Free WSB-TV News app for alerts as news breaks] Gainesville police say Kyland Williams, 18, was wanted for malice murder, felony murder, and aggravated assault in the April 2024 shooting death of 16-year-old Jaishawn Overstreet. Investigators say Overstreet went to the Ridgecrest Apartments on Roper Hill Road to meet with someone. Police say they were planning to commit a crime, but did not specify what that was. Overstreet was then shot in the head and killed. Wrestler charged with kidnap after 'HELP!' note left at Jersey Mike's
A professional wrestler has been charged with felony kidnapping and assault after his alleged victim left a note in a Florida sandwich shop begging for help, according to authorities. Jordan Williams, a 34-year-old blue-haired wrestler known as Jayden Steele in the ring, was busted after investigators reviewed surveillance footage at the Jersey Mike's in Navarre where the note was found, according to NBC 15 News. Sandwich maker Eleanor Coffee told the outlet that she found the crumpled-up note on the restroom floor. '[The author] was like, 'Please help me. I'm at this address in Navarre. I need you to call the police and do a wellness check,'' said Coffee, who immediately alerted her manager and called 911. 'Let cops know don't approach the house unless my Hyundai Kona is in the driveway because his parents will alert him and he will hurt me… I just want to get home to my kids and family… He controls my phone so he will know [if you message me],' the note read, according to the arrest report seen by EWrestling News. He faces multiple domestic violence charges including felony aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, felony kidnap, felony battery, misdemeanor battery/touch or strike and felony battery strangulation. Williams pleaded not guilty to all the charges against him and is currently being held at Santa Rosa County Jail. His arraignment is scheduled for June 19. 'Anybody who would do that to another woman, he don't need to be walking around free in our community,' Chief Tifft told NBC 15 News.
