Malaysia Promotes Higher Education In Jakarta Via MyEduTour 2025

By Mohd Iswandi Kasan Anuar JAKARTA, June 24 (Bernama) -- Malaysia has embarked on a promotional effort in Jakarta aimed at attracting more Indonesian students to further their studies at institutions of higher learning in Malaysia – and in the process, forging stronger people-to-people relations in both countries. The MyEduTour: Discovery Malaysia 2025 programme, organised by Education Malaysia Indonesia (EMI) — which is the official representative of the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia — along with Tourism Malaysia Jakarta and the Malaysian Embassy, was held at the embassy ground. bootstrap slideshow The Malaysian Ambassador to Indonesia, Datuk Syed Mohamed Hasrin Tengku Hussin, said the initiative was part of the country's soft diplomacy effort featuring five public institutions of higher education, five private institutions of higher education, and a travel agency offering travel packages based around education. 'It is hoped that this programme may contribute to closer exchanges between Malaysians and Indonesians and forge stronger societal ties,' he said, adding that some 11,000 Indonesian students are currently enrolled in study programmes in Malaysia. The programme combines education and tourism for Indonesians and is in line with Malaysia's effort to become a regional hub for higher education. The embassy's Minister Counsellor (Education), Hasnul Faizal Hushin Amri, said the platform enables universities in Malaysia to offer academic programmes through interaction sessions and educational visit packages. 'The seminar provided detailed information on the programmes on offer, and this helped educators and representatives of universities to make the best choices for their students,' he said. MyEduTour is an ongoing effort to strengthen cooperation in education and tourism based on long-standing cultural and historical relations between Malaysia and Indonesia, he added.

MPBC Gathers Over 250 Members To Boost Malaysia–Pakistan Ties

BUSINESS Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's upcoming working visit to Pakistan will go a long way in generating momentum to further enhance political and diplomatic relations between the two countries. Briefing the local media on the Malaysian Prime Minister's working visit to Islamabad next week, Pakistan High Commissioner to Malaysia Syed Ahsan Raza Shah said, Anwar's visit to the South Asian country beginning on Monday (Oct 2) until Wednesday (Oct 4) would also boost cultural and economic ties between Malaysia and Pakistan. -- fotoBERNAMA (2024) COPYRIGHT RESERVED KUALA LUMPUR, June 24 (Bernama) -- More than 250 members of the Malaysia–Pakistan Business Council (MPBC) gathered alongside Malaysian government agencies to foster trade and investment between the two countries. MPBC acting chairman Usman Ahmed said the key initiative to drive this agenda is the establishment of the Malaysia–Pakistan Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, formally recognised by both governments. 'Our aim has always been to have a joint chamber of commerce between Malaysia and Pakistan—legally recognised by both governments and authorised to operate in both countries. 'The chairmanship will rotate, alternating between representatives from Pakistan and Malaysia. This is the only way to truly foster trade and investment between the two countries,' he told Bernama at the MPBC Networking Reception and Dinner, today. Among the Malaysian government agencies present were the Malaysian Investment Development Authority (MIDA), the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI), and the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (Matrade). Established in 2013, MPBC promotes bilateral trade, tourism and investment between Malaysia and Pakistan. Usman, who is also the chief executive officer of Gamalux Oils Sdn Bhd, said MPBC has taken proactive steps to reposition itself as a key trade facilitator between the two countries. 'The council's recent meetings and discussions highlight an urgent need to streamline governance, enhance visibility, improve trade engagement, and establish sustainable institutional practices,' he said. He added that beyond 2025, the council aims to strengthen Malaysia–Pakistan economic ties through structured trade facilitation, diaspora engagement, policy advocacy and strategic institutional reform by 2030.
